In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Reptilian Paradise

Unless I missed the post, I dont see that Reptilian Paradise hasnt responded to any of this. Unless they havent been aware and notified of this thread, the fact they havent responded, may speak volumes

Don't you think if you had a giant scab on your arm and someone tore it off forcibly before it was ready, the resultant "goo" would resemble a burn, too? Geez... no wonder.

I sent them a notification, do not know if they received it, you are welcome to follow up with another. But do not know about the 'volumes', because it may just be a husbandry issue, the Facebook pictures look good.

I recommend you do more research Torien. 60% humidity is kinda low for a royal in shed. As mentioned before the wrinkled and dimpled eye scale is not stuck shed. It is caused by low humidity. If you raised her humidity to 60% for the shed ( which I believe is the low end on their daily care) that means you were keeping it lower than that.

I think you just need more time and experience keeping herps. Pretty much everything you have said is husbandry issues and none of your pictures support your claim.

Glad to hear you are keeping her. With a little research you could have a long lived and happy pet. Also be very careful with that blood python as they are nothing like royals.

Thats why you said YOU think. I keep mine 55-65% 24/7 365 and all shed fine. I never mist during sheds unless humidity in Room drops below 40%.

Just had to address that cause with Balls or any species too much Moisture will do more harm that good!

Also the Nose part isnt a burn either.

As anyone with larger boids knows about Rubbing. They Rub when wanting out of something. Which results into injuries on the head, that over time scab up and so on. Just looks like a scab which the snake or someone removed.

No, Reptilian Paradise has not responded, which I do agree says a lot.

I am reluctant to boost the humidity above 60%, but have left saran wrap on the screen lid and it holds humidity well. I'm concerned about causing issues with humidity too high as much of the research I've done says NEVER to go above 65%. However, since I got her, she had a blueish sheen, like I said, so her humidity hasn't gone below 55% since I got her.

I observe her heavily, and have never once seen her rub her face on anything in the cage, and am especially careful to make sure she never rubs on the screen top.

The images taken from my facebook were all taken within half an hour of each other. She was wet-damp in all of them, and the shed on her nose was covering her eye caps.

I don't want to list names because I cannot remember who exactly at the store supported which claims, but it was Scales N Tails that I took her to be looked at, and there were 3 people there (whos names I don't know) who all gave me their opinion. As far as citing goes, that's as much as what I know will allow me to do.

As far as husbandry goes, I gave the people at Reptilian Paradise a very good description of where I'd be keeping her, and they said that was good.

UPDATE: Her scale rot is almost gone and her shed is fully off. Her eyes are still dimpled and her nose isn't getting any better. I've kept the humidity at CONSISTENTLY 60% and have been putting repti healing aid on her nose.

If anybody can help with those final two issues, I would be very grateful.

I believe they have been notified twice now.

The facebook pictures look good, I was just referring to being told she looked good after posting pictures of her belly and face.

I'm sorry if this has been asked already...but what are you using to gauge her humidity?

keeping her well hydrated, and increasing her humidity a bit more above 60% are really your only options for her bad shedding. Soaking a snake is not required, and can actually make it more difficult for them to shed in a single piece. So fixing the external issues in general are your best answer. Her humidity being bumped above 60% during her shed cycle is NOT going to hurt her.

Whatever research that is telling you that you should NEVER go above 65% is just silly...every animal is different....and some may require a bigger increase than others during shed cycles.

As far as her nose...keep it clean...it will heal up with time...remember snakes do not heal up like humans do...it can be a slower process

Hi my name is Andrew i am the owner of RP. This is really upsetting to see what is being said on here. not only because it's false but because miss. Torein Nichole came to me about a month ago looking for some animals, and after spending a couple of hours the first day asking about every question about the different animal she was interested in, she purchased a pink toe tarantula. about a week later she came down again and said we were very helpful and the spider was doing amazing. that same day she was also very interested in a ball python. She wanted one that was nice and big enough to hold. i showed her this really sweet Female ball python that i recently got in a month before it was out on display. I love this industry but the one thing that upsets me more than the rest is when animals are miss treated! this ball python was brought in by a young man who started college and didn't have the time anymore for the care. when i received this snake i noticed that it had bad shed, some scale damage, and a rat bite on the belly, also a slight upper respiratory infection, but with all that, she was still a very beautiful loving snake. I instantly put her in to quarantine, like i do all animals sick or not, for at least two weeks. to get that female back to health it took a lot of time and care, after 3 weeks i got her healthy and put her at a discounted price of $75.00 just to cover cost of care and housing, like i said she was a very loving snake i just wanted her to go to a good home. when Nichole purchased her that day. i thought in the two hours of being here with countless of questions, she understood that this was a b grade animal she was receiving. well about 5 days later she gave me a call and said that she feels like the ball python is getting sick or is already sick and doesn't feel comfortable owning it. I was a little confused because i told her about the issues the ball python had and that it might take two weeks to get used to the new setup and the temperature of the cage. Nichole still seemed real concerned and i would never let a customer feel stuck with a sick animal, so i told her to bring it down and i will check it out. Nichole came in a couple days later and told me the concerns she had and I went over everything again. I told her that the one thing to do is not to let her get to cold, i noticed that the gums of the ball python were getting a little white again which mean the start of a URI again. i told Nichole that at anytime she felt that it would be to hard to care for we would be able to return and give her the credit towards another one and at anytime she felt she was sick i have a very knowledgeable vet down the street and would take care of the cost. Nichole said that was fine and that she would hold on to the ball python and keep me in touch. That same day she purchased a blood python from us, i told her that they need alot of attention and are known for being aggressive. i thought it would be best if she waited to make sure the ball python was fine first. well after a couple of hours going over everything with Nichole about the blood python she purchased it anyway. in two days nichole called me saying that the blood python was a mistake, that it wouldn't come out of its hide and when she would try to pull it out it would strike at her. So she said that there was only a 3 day guarantee on the animal and wouldn't be able to bring it down for another 5 days on her day off. at this point i was very upset, but i care about all animals and would never put an animal into a home where it didn't have proper care. so i told her it would be fine that she brings it down and i would give her store credit. This was the last i heard from her. it is very upsetting that i come to find out about all the bad reviews on craigslist, fauna, kingsnake, and a few more places she posted about this ball python. i told her at any point she felt overwhelmed that i would take the ball python back and give her the credit which she seemed fine with. so after all of this i am going to have to take action, i love my business that i opened a little over a year ago, and most of all, the care of animals which i see get miss treated everyday! I put my animals first over anything else and when i am getting accused of these accusations it really make me sad that a person would do this to a business that is actually here to help the reptile community! So unfortunately i will be contacting my lawyer and will have to pursue legal action and getting all of this off about my business, after all, it is false! i have nothing to hide and people are more than welcome to come check us out any time including PACFA, which stop by frequently and love my shop and the way I care for animals. So to anyone else that doesn't want to be involved stop posting about my business or i will have to follow up with you as well. miss torein nichole i am very upset it has to come to this but i am a man of my word, animals are my love and priority and what you are doing is hurting one of the only pet shops in colorado that has a great name in the reptile community, ask all the other people who have posted nothing but great reviews about REPTILIAN PARADISE! so if you don't make things right and stop the false accusations I will give your information to my lawyer and he or I will keep in contact and will be seeing you in court!

In Bold has me saying BS. Snake came to you in bad shape with an RI non less and you flipped it month later. How are you to be confident to say the snake is healthy from RI in just 4 weeks of receiving it, with no vet care or Medication delivered to fight the infection.:shrug01:

So you sold your customer a snake that had an RI that you were able to subside issues long enough to sell it, and now customer has to deal with her being more prone to RIs. And $75 is not the price of a B grade animal that was Retail Marked up Period!

IMO that snake should never of been sold that Soon.

Should also add, if she brought snake back and showed signs again, Being respectful you should of taken her back and given a FULL refund not credit. And got that snake the care it needed from the VET

So unfortunately i will be contacting my lawyer and will have to pursue legal action and getting all of this off about my business, after all, it is false! i have nothing to hide and people are more than welcome to come check us out any time including PACFA, which stop by frequently and love my shop and the way I care for animals.

You are threatening US for posting on the BOI? The 'contacting my lawyer' is right out of the Handbook. Reasonable responses might have gained you something, but threatening anyone who posts sure lost my respect for you, and I will post as I dang please.

BRING IT, HONEY. :reddevil:

You thought it would be best if she waited to buy it, but you sold it to her anyway? You sold it to her after a "couple of hours" of answering questions. If you felt that it would be going to a sub-par owner, you'd have had every right to refuse to sell it to her. That sure does seem to contradict the idea that you'd never put an animal in a home where it didn't have proper care. After having answered her questions, you either felt fine about selling to someone with her knowledge level, or you simply didn't care about anything more than having cash laid on your hand. It's one or the other.

You run a pet shop. Profit is the name of your game. Let's not try to make it seem so much more noble than what it is. You sold an animal that you have just admitted had problems to begin with, to someone that you'd now like to portray as someone who wasn't adequate to the task.

Ahh..the old legal threats. Call in the shysters and try to put the hush on. I think that alone says all that need to be said about your intentions here. Weak sauce.

Wow I was kind of on the fence about this BOI thread but after your post, Reptilian Paradise is definitely a place to avoid. Your quarantine practices are pitiful, it seems all you care about is making money.

I also don't understand why you are complaining that she stood in the store and asked so many questions? To me that speaks volumes about her, at least she tried to educate herself as much as she could before purchasing any sort of pet which so many choose to ignore in this hobby now a days. People can argue over the humidity, caging, etc. but honestly you have to give her credit for trying her absolute best.

So wait, you took the snake in for free, never got any sort of vet treatment, and then sold it for $75? Is that what I am gathering? If so she is more than due a refund whether or not she was getting a "B" grade animal. That is literally the definition of flipping.

look i am not trying to start anything, i am a new business that opened on 7/01/11. it's been a real challenge to get this going and i am trying my best to have everything in order. i did say i would get her credit, and she was fine with that, after all, that is my policy. i do feel wrong here and should have taken the snake back the first time she came back. after that day she never returned and i always help my customers. i told her i would do whatever she needed, i never turned her away or put that snake on her she just had to come back. I still haven't received a phone call and I told her to stay in contact if she had any other concern. I feel bad that she felt the needed to go out of her way to speak so badly of my store and couldn't call me instead. I thought we left on good terms but I was wrong and that is why I'm so upset. I will now speak directly to her and will leave this thread. I already have enough stress and now I have to resolve this situation. Thanks!
