But she did not take the proper action upon arrival of the “unhealthy” animals. Simply to avoid this whole head ache a refund should have been arranged

Earth to space cadet...I tried to call him and emailed him the day I received the snakes in fact I think it was within 30 minutes of arrival, he didn't contact me back until a week later by then I had already had to deal with the problem, I would have loved to have sent back that same day!!!!

Your right on that one. I didn't realize how unethical breeders could be until my dealing with Richard before him I was treated to nice snake and honest breeders now I know I need to be prepare for the unethicals. Thanks for that tip.

lllreptiles offers a pretty cheap set. youtube how to do it and you will have no problems. and if you did infact ask him when you first talked to him if you could return the snakes and he had said no i really feel for you. and id be more understanding as to where all this is coming from.

Chirstina dont listen to the crap hes advising you to do !if you never probed a snake get someone to show you how ! check with another breeder in your area or a vet theres more than just buying a set of probes you can harm it if you dont know what your doing!!!!

christina again im not arguing with you you have every right to be mad. it is my fault for not reading all 12 pages upon writing my responce. but niether one of your actions were well thought through. first thing is first buy a probe kit. next keep that mite spray and spray every new animal that you get. when you open the boxs right off the batt you will be prepared. because id like to think everyone on here is out to do good but as of now you and i know thats not the case. and if your leg is being pulled from the get go past the deal up because there is something fishy!. i am not richard i am disappointed in his actions. im sorry you had to deal with that. but woman be prepared when it comes to buying snakes that are not infront of you to hold and examine right then and there. and #1 when buying reptiles on here check there ratings search the boi type in there user name and you will see reviews if you dont post and ask, someone will come forth alot of people read that stuff as you can see. dont get snagged into another problem. hope it all works out and your mites are gone and that your snakes are gravid im keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

My actions were well thought though, I just trusted the wrong guy so I got screwed. I don't regret one thing I've said or done, he doesn't deserve forgiveness from me and he will never get it. Thanks for the good wishes for my snakes, that was nice.

Chirstina if i was you i would start a program to use provent a mite or Rid in there bedding like every 3 months better safe than sorry! i use Rid on my snakes bedding and i haven't had a mite breakout yet knock on wood !!

You bet! I'm the queen of chemicals and quarantine, I don't think anyone will every pry the bleach or Provent A Mite from my hands. I've been doing complete cleaning every 4 to 5 days...clorox, wash & dry tubs, spray with treatment and then new bedding to top it off. I may be going a tad overboard but it makes me feel safer.

First off, I hope your snakes are doing better. I have to disagree with Tim on one thing because I see you took action into wanting to get your issue corrected right away. What ever the circumstances may have been Richard did get back to you eventually. Anyone else who just wanted the money would have ignored you and not have given you anything. I have to give some respect to Richard for offering that much. Again this seemed like a "Timing issue if you ask me" and not anyones intention to cause anger or frustration. I do agree with Tim on one thing though. This BOI thread does not need to be posted on all of his ads becuase he has changed the way he takes care of his animals and seems to be really focused on making sure they 100% healthy/Mite free now. I'm pretty sure if another customer runs into an issue like you did, they will come to the BOI and see this as well. Im not taking anyones side but I thought I would give my opinion on this whole forum to try and clearify things. I just dont like seeing people argue for something that happened in the past. I hope you have some beautiful baby BPs from those females you got and hopefully that spider is gravid from the Calico!

It was not a "timing issue" it was a issue of mite covered snakes sent to me on purpose and then a hot e-check. The reason I feel he didn't ignore me after the first 7 days was because he saw my BOI thread and probably though I would keep my mouth shut if he tried to make it right. I will keep posting under his ads then the potential new buyer can read and decide for themselves if he has clean up his act or not, I can't tell people what to do just inform them. Richard put this upon himself. Tim wrote me a nice PM and he told me I was right, maybe you will start to see that as well. If not oh well you can't save them all. LOL. I'm almost sure the Spider is not gravid but if she goes I will let everyone know.

OH I remember what I wanted to tell you. About this mite problem. I found a spray at Petco specifically for snakes. You rub the snake down with it and it gets rid of mites on the actual snake. I use that in a combo with PreventAMite for the snakes enclosure and it works wonders. I read up a long time ago that people used to use Vasoline on the snake but im not sure if thats even healthy LOL. I'll PM the name of the spray when I get home. I had a minor mite issue in a trade a while back but this fixed it in 1 day! I was impressed!

Not only should you worry about Mites but be aware that there are other diseases out there. One of the worste snake diseases out there is the rectal infection. Nasty! I have only seen pictures but that makes me very nervous when purchasing a snake from new breeders. Pay attention to their fecal and if all looks normal then your good to go.

Thank you for the info. Trust me I am aware of other diseases out there. IBD is scary as and they believe that mites may transfer this to snakes. I got a nice book on snake diseases and health problems, it even has the dosage for certain meds.
