In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Richie Rich's Reptiles

What are their real names?
do you know?

ummm if you ad a 't' their name would be spelled like mine.
Sorry that is the only help I can give.   <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Richard Ritchey?

The guy who sells venemoids?

Never dealt with him but supposedly he does the procedure himself. That's where the "best in the nation" part comes from in his adds.

PM Kevin, AKA Oreganus if it is the venemoid guy. He may be able to help you.

I'm not saying anything negative about him because I dont know him but is this guy a qualified veterinarian or just some guy with a sharp pocket knife?

Venomoids are bad enough but "back alley" venomoids are just shameful.

Al,

I have been in touch with him several times via e-mail. He seems like a nice guy. If you are looking to buy what I think you are, you know the questions to ask: who produced them, do you have the paperwork, and may I contact the producer.

Best regards,

I was thinkin the same. Its worse because he is the third owner of them. But this late in the season I may have to give it a try.  Thanks Daniel, and i appreciate you lookin out for me.

Al,

If he is the third owner there is no way he can guarantee the genetics (and it's not his fault). I guess it's going to be your decision after all.

Best regards.  <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

He said he was going to email me scanned copies of the genetic on fri, and then today. Nothing came so I see it as a lost cause. Thanks for the help, Al

Venomoids

I won't go into my opinion on venomoids in any great depth here; suffice it to say that I consider it unethical to cut and mutilate a dangerous wild animal so you can turn it into a play toy. It is particularly unethical to perform such surgeries if you are not a licensed veterinarian and do not have sterile professional instruments and pain medications.

Richard Richey is not a veterinarian and consequently has no legal access to appropriate pain medications. He uses tools from Home Depot and from craft stores to do his surgeries. Photo documentation of his practices is available at http://www.venomousreptiles.org in Jeff Miller's article on venomoids.

I have seen examples of his work at the Columbia show being sold by Exotic Reptiles Jungle, and I was appalled at the deformed, sunken-head appearance of the longer term animals and the poorly healed stitches and swelling apparent in the fresh arrivals.

I have been told that some of his venomoids eventually adjust well and become healthy captives, but the only ones I have personally seen were a sad looking mess. I assist with reptile surgeries at a veterinary clinic on a regular basis and we use various cosmetic techniques and different types of suturing material to treat and close wounds in a sterile manner with good results. I cannot say the same about makeshift home "surgeries" done by Richard Richey.

If you cannot be dissuaded from purchasing a venomoid, please at least purchase one that was operated on properly by a licensed veterinarian.

Richie Rich's Reptiles dosnt do venomous or venemoid

Richie Rich's Reptiles dosnt do venomous or venemoid !!! I should know I am Richie Rich's Reptiles. I dont even own a venomous or venemoid snake. I hope this clears up a few things ... If any one has any questions please feel free to contact me ... Thanks Rich Degnan

Rich.... Your answer was very ambiguous.... you answered the question, but, you didn't answer the question, at the same time....
You don't "do" or "own" any venomous or venomoids.... but, do you do any "surgery" on those types of snake (as was implied)??

....Neil

Neil, this Richard (Degnan) is not the same individual notorious for hacking the heads of venomous snakes. That is the only thing that I can attest to regarding this person.

Ken.... your word is good enough for me! Thanks....

Rich.... my sincere apologies, don't even bother answering my question.... it's now a moot point!

....Neil

I think Taniht is confused. He is talking about something other than what this post by me was put up for. It may be he does not know to read the whole thread before opening his mouth, or something im unaware of, either way, his response has nothing to do with my post.

She. Tanith is a woman. She's also a fairly well-respected member of the venomous community.

Given the similarity in names... Richard Richey vs Richie Rich's Reptiles, I can understand why she interjected into this thread.

It's ok ...

I thank everyone for understanding, I just didnt want anyone to think I was a snake hacker thats all ....
