Rick Sisco - Sisco Reptiles

Bert actually states that the Argentine Black & White Tegu is the "Giant Tegu". All T.merianae are large lizards. The range of Chaco is made of many, many T.merianae of various sizes and shades of color. Are you claiming that only one size and color variation exsist there? Come on, Bobby.

This is no longer about me or my business as much as it is about you and your quest to prove your "extreme giants" are from chaco. The characteristics you offer are not proven to belong to the tegus in the chaco region of Argentina. As far as the characteristics.. such as the solid V on the neck, that is hogwash, any tegus can have those markings. The size of your adults could be contributed to the age of the 4 animals you obtained as adults. I have seen pictures of some of your yearling "chacoans" that did not hibernate and yet they are still small. The peach coloration in the adults is not really uncommon in breeding adults, much like iguana's turn orange. Egg size can also be related to the size of the adult laying the eggs, much like a larger ball python will lay larger eggs. You have no proof, just your theories. You are entitled your opinions, but the BOI is for fact, not fiction. So, let's keep our personal crap personal.. You didn't see me attacking your claim to have bred for temperament the very first year you produced hatchlings, do you?

In the end, you are selling a T.merianae for MUCH more than other's sell their T.merianae, because you claim yours are "Extreme Giants" from "Chaco". So, let's see the actual proof?!? Maybe this thread should be moved into YOUR BOI post.

You like taking the twist and turns don't you Rick?

If you are not lying then show me one baby that you have like this:

You cannot, because you have none and never did, so please explain how your are just like mine again. Post the proof Rick, and do answer these questions:

Is it not true that you sold babies from these same animals the year before as normals? But then changed the name to Chacoan after you found out I had the true Chacoan giants?

You shipped this animal and it died, you claimed it was your "first" DOA, was that true?

Exactly. So why dont you show some fact to back up what you are saying. Just saying it dont make it so, Rick. Got any articles, studies, documents of any kind backing up a single thing you say? No? I didnt think so.

This has nothing to do with Bobby or his animals. This has everything to do with asking you to back up your claims about Bobby's animals. With FACTS Rick. Again, just you saying so with absolutely no information backing up what you say is NOT FACTS. You made the accusations many times over the last year or so, so now I would like it if you could back up your claims.

But we both know that you making these claims has been nothing more than trying to pass your animals off as something the same as Bobby's (which they aint) to try and compete with Bobby. A lying sales pitch. Nothing more. End of story.

Bobby, I'm not sure what exactly those pictures were intended to demonstrate, could you explain what we are supposed to be seeing? Thanks.

Well it is not hard to tell that these are not what he is selling Erin:

DSCN3268.jpg

DSCN3553.jpg

He has never had any babies with this color. This is only found in the Chacoan Giants, but he claims to have the same animals.

This is normal white heads or high white normals, they are not the same animals:

female2_017.jpg

DSCN1509.jpg

They are not the same as these:

GroupChacos.jpg

He also has nothing like this:

222223.jpg

DSCN3520.jpg

DSCN3519.jpg

DSCN3512.jpg

DSCN3481E.jpg

Also he claims it is with age, tegus mature at 3 years old, his are over three and so are mine. But mine are the true Chacoan Giants and not the much smaller normal white heads.

Well Rick, I myself have spoken with Bert about Bobby's Tegus. They are what he says they are. They come from a warmer area and they aren't as cold tolerant as the Tegus Bert raises. So there must be a difference in them and regular B&W Tegus. I myself don't know you but I do know Bobby and Bert. I have no problems beleiving them. It sounds to me your trying to make money off his good name . I think you should apologize to Bobby.

Bobby,
You may best be able to answer this for me, but is one to conclude that in the past year or so Rick has alternatively claimed to be selling "chachoans or "giants", and then once noted that he perhaps did not have them, decided that you didn't either, or that there was no validity in claiming a special variation such as "giant" of chacoan origins ?

Frankly Rick, with "beauty in the eye of the beholder", I think you may taken too much slight to a competitors ability to enhance the appeal of their product, as being the same as misrepresenting it. Sour grapes maybe ?

Yes, he sold them as normals, and then changed the name to Chacoan wich means Giant.

Jim Chacoans are the giant tegus, they are much larger than the white heads, and white heads is just a color, not a local.

There are also questions to if Rick has ever bred tegus. I asked him last season how many he produced, he said 90. I then asked Bert how many Rick bought from him, it was the exact same number 90.

Also, tegus do not change colors when breeding, Rick would know this if he ever bred them.

Thanks Bobby. Without anything to compare your pics to, I wasn't sure what point you were trying to make. I would agree that there are some definite color and scalation differences between yours and Rick's though. Not to mention size!

I know Rick pretty well. I can assure everyone that his animals are nothing but healthy, and that he does indeed view them as pets. This thread is turning into the rehashing of personal problems, and has nothing to do with Rick's business practices, which in my experiences with him have been nothing but perfect.

Asking Rick to prove that Bobby's tegus are NOT chacoan is just asinine. If bobby wants to call them chacoans, he should be able to back it up with something more than "Bert said..." or "They look different...". Chaco is a very specific region. Just as every yellow carpet python is not a Jungle Carpet python, every big tegu is not a Chacoan tegu.

This is clearly a case of one clique trying to tarnish someone's reputation over personal BS that has no business being aired like this.

I have nothing else to add, except that this was and should remain a Good Guy thread. Rick is an asset to the hobby, industry and community.

Joshua Easter

I've known Rick for a while now, and even though the tegu buisness is a little over my head, I know Rick as nothing else than a patient, nice guy. I may have little to add to the debate at hand, but whatever conclusion we come to, if any at all, I'd just like to echo the "Good Guy" posts. Rick is the last one I'd EVER question in terms of ethics and morals.

Fortunately, some of us have only Rick's words here, his response to allegations, as well as accounts from customers, both pro and con. I for one feel I can very safely say that I bring no bias or "clique" to this thread, as Bobby will certainly testify to :), and knowing the other members who have posted here as I do, frankly Josh you can put the "clique" analogy where the sun don't shine. It seems clear that Rick has taken umbrage to Bobby's characterizations of Bobby's animals, received enormous favors from Bobby, and handled a customer and shipment in ways that seemed OK to him until others here objected. Last, but certainly not least, if Bert is cool with it, then Rick needs to bark up a different tree, cause Bert is the Godfather.

Well if he is all that, then let him answer the questions asked of him many times here:

Is it not true that you sold babies from these same animals the year before as normals? But then changed the name to Chacoan after you found out I had the true Chacoan giants?

You shipped this animal and it died, you claimed it was your "first" DOA, was that true?

I mean both of you are from his camp and that is why you are taking up for him. But if he is so honest, then he can answer those the questions that he is avoiding.

That is business, and that needs to be answered.

And you two can take that nice guy to Daytona this year and pay his way like I did last year, he will be your friend for it!!

I don't know Bobby, I've been in the same tegu chat for the last year or so now. You are the one that left after you two had a falling out, not me. And if you remember correctly, I signed up on your website after you two parted ways as well as Rick's. Now, what I said was that I've had nothing but a pleasant time with Rick, and he has always treated me with kindness and respect. If you want to try and say I'm from his "camp" for talking about my experiences with him, go ahead, because frankly, he won me over to his "camp" with his being one of the best people I know in the herp community. No bias or cliques there, just fact.

And if I did pay for someone, whatever the circumstances, I'll be sure I don't try to use it against them in their BOI thread.

I think you just made my point.

And with that, I have nothing more to add to this thread.

Well he needs to answer those questions, you say he is honest, then if that is the case he did not lie about any of it then.

I will tell you, he did change the name to collect the extra cash, and that was not his first DOA as he claims.

He also claims on his site:

We produce healthy, beautiful Ball Pythons in a variety of color and pattern morphs. We have many beautiful Normals, Pastels, Super Pastel, Mojaves, Yellowbellies (aka het Ivory), Orange Ghosts, Cinnamon Pastel, Spiders, High Contrast Albinos & Piebald Ball Pythons.

However, he needs to tell the truth there as well. How many of those morphs have you produced Rick? Only pastels, correct?

Yes, Mr honesty indeed....

Josh,
Let me spell it out for you a bit better. You obviously do not get the "smilie". Bobby and I have been diametrically opposed many times in the past, although I have been an infrequent poster for the last year. AKA: I have blasted Bobby on plenty of occasions. Sorry to impugn your sensitivities, but some of us have disagree with Rick based solely on his words and actions here. I also happen to know everyone from Maine is not stupid, btw, and it would be nice to debate the issues without impugning those with whom you disagree by claiming "its a clique".

Rick already answered both those questions Bobby. He did so way back if you'd read it.
I don't see why anyone should have to prove what someone else's animals are.
Bobby can't prove his animals came from any certain spot. If he wants to call them Chacoans, or white heads, or giants, then fine. They are great big tegus. They have slightly different coloration. Whether they are a morph of normals, or a new species or some variant of komodo dragon, it has nothing at all to do with Rick's handling of a sale that Bobby had nothing to do with.
Let's face it, Bobby has it out for Rick. He's mad that he gave to a friend, and I guess didn't get back the same amount. Whatever personal falling out they had doesn't belong on BOI. It belongs between them, and to see a thread degrade to the same ranting and raving is pointless.
Theresa Baker

Fair enough Jim. Just to be clear, I didn't include you in the clique statement until after your post. I apologize.

Bobby, I have diamond pythons posted on my site. Are you saying I should remove them until after they've bred?

And if you're so sure that Rick has had more DOA tegus, why not provide a name of someone else that has received one?

Furthermore, to insinuate that Rick may not have bred tegus is just wrong. I've been to shows with him. I've seen the tegus he's produced compared to some from Bert at the same shows, being sold by other vendors. His are obviously significantly higher quality, larger, and much tamer than any others at the shows. Unless of course you think Bert is only sending him the tame ones?

Your personal falling out is unfortunate, because I enjoyed talking with you both. But it is just that.... personal.

I'm done.
