    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

RIP, Prism :(

I'm sure I will - I already have a Guyana Red-Tail Boa. She's an absolute sweetheart - her name is Youkai.

When I pick her up, she'll reach out and bump noses with me, then lick. It's the CUTEST thing in the world!! I LOVE that snake.

I also have 2 Ball Pythons, 7 Leopard Geckos (4 are for sale), 1 Giant Green Iguana, and my most recent acquisition - a Red Eyed Tree Frog.

That is awesome! IT sounds like you really care about the animals and that is the most important thing! I currently have 10 balls (including 6 babies), a sinaloan milk snake, brazilian rainbow boa, hog island boa, mali uromastyx lizard and a dumpy tree frog. I actually need to scale down a bit and get rid of the frog and the milksnake. I am trying to just focus on balls and hog island boas.

That's so cool! The 4 female Leopard Geckos I am selling are breeding stock, but since I had such a hard time selling the hatchlings, I've decided to stop breeding them, so I am going to make room for a Fire Skink - I intend to use the cage that my female geckos are in - I am keeping 1 female and 2 males - it's a Vision model 211.

My Red-Tailed Boa, Youkai is in a Vision model 422 - HUGE cage. Prism's old cage is the same model, stacked under Youkai's. Faye and Jet both have their own Vision model 221. The three geckos I am keeping (Chibi - female, Lexx and Gex - Male) each have their own Vision model #111.

Caicos - my Iguana, has an ENORMOUS cage. I got it for $500.00 from a friend who had it built for her water dragon by a professional cabinet maker. The water dragon escaped after they temporarily moved in with her MIL, and they never found it. For a while it was hanging around the bushes outside her MIL's house, and her MIL hated it, so she cut all the bushes back. The poor thing is long gone now, especially after the harsh winter we had last year. :(

This cage is very nice though - 6 1/2 feet tall, 5 feet long, and 2 1/2 feet deep... GORGEOUS. I also set up a stand for her and lined it with astroturf... she has quite the setup. She's also litter pan trained - so I have a pan set up with about 2 inches of water - she crawls down, goes, and crawls back out. All I have to do is flush it. Makes cleanup really easy.

Those sound like great homes for your little ones! Awesome!

What would be wrong with the rat to cause the snake to die?

My experience was with a mouse. I bought a bunch at a local feed store. When I arrived home I started feeding the adult mice first as I normally do than move to the smaller mice. It was when I was at the hoppers and fuzzies I noticed something very bad. All of them were purple!!! I had to buy live for the moment because I was out of frozens. It was late and the store was closed for the day, so I put the hoppers and fuzzies with mother mice. The next morning they were all dead except the mother mice. I went back to the store, they apologized profusely and returned my money.

The next day my Het for Snow male had regurged, I had a feeling this was going to be bad. By the next morning he was dead. His brother started regurging also. I immediately had him treated, which he is doing fine now, but his growth has been stunted a bit. I now breed my mice and rats because of this incident. The store has also switched their supplier, they informed me that this was becoming common. The mice they sell now are HUGE and much healthier, and they do not have only white mice. So I know they were not lying to me. They also said their previous supplier was getting out of the business, I am thinking he was poisoning the mice, but that is just what I think. Sorry for the long post, but that was my experience.

Wow..Scary stuff...I am going to order from Rodent Pro ASAP. Since I ran out, I have been getting frozens from a local store and who is to say that those are safe.
