In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ripped off by Patrick Renwick

Here's my 2 cents.....

Being an unbiased party because I don't know anyone who has posted to this tread, I can see the point being made by most who have replied here.

Jim was a little hasty in throwing out the bad guy thread? Maybe he was. But let's think about this logically. In all honesty, we have all been there, and if we haven't chances are we will be. No one is immune to getting the shaft on a biz deal, especially one you have concerns about from the beginning. He made the deal against his better judgement, which was his mistake. And all the emails prior to his shipping were quickly replied to and Pat was very anxious, then Jim shipped his end of the bargain and didn't hear anything. Who in that situation can honestly say they wouldn't panick? I know I would. I wouldn't think, well it's the weekend...etc., etc. My first thought after several attempts to contact would be, "I knew I shouldn't have made that deal, now I'm out." I'd be kicking myself and very well likely to be posting the same thread on the BOI.

Can anyone really say they wouldn't panick after a sudden and complete end in communication on Pat's part?

I'm not saying Jim was right or that Pat was right. But I can see both sides of what is happening.

Jim, I hope you can get this worked out. Any maybe a couple apologies on both ends would make both parties feel better. (Even if it's just an apology for misinterpreting STAT for Sat.)

And there you have it......
my 2 cents

The time isn't wrong

At the top of the screen click "User cp" then select "User Options" you can change the time zone your screen displays. Your screen must be displaying a time zone other than where you live.

Thanks all for clarifying about the USPS. I knew it was possible I was mistaken, but I didn't realize how silly those government regulations were. (Scorpians but not non-venomous snakes!) Guess I should have realized, I was a Air Force Wife for many years and lived on several Air Bases, nothing about the government should suprise me.

Jim

The conversion on Greenwich Mean Time got me. But you are missing my main point. Whether the post was made Monday morning or early Monday evening doesn’t really affect that point. Your response to my original post, which was in now way an attack, indicates to me that you are very quick to anger. You went after this guy with both guns blazing before you really KNEW he was guilty of anything except falling out of contact for a few days. “Patrick Renwick Ripped Me Off!” “What can I do to ruin his life?”

You were justified in being concerned at his lack of response. I would have been too. An inquiry here on him might have been appropriate as to whether or not anyone had done business with him or knew how to contact him But your tack was overkill given the timeline on the deal. If you had been expecting delivery on Monday of an animal and received no contact the situation would have been different but you still shouldn’t label the guy a scam artist until you actually know you have been scammed. His end of the transaction was an inanimate object that shouldn’t have arrived, best case, until Wednesday or Thursday. UPS overnight on an item 24” X 24” 24” 30 pound package would have been around $150 as opposed to $30 or so for Ground so I am pretty sure you weren’t expecting him to pony up for that. Since the contents was not live, there was no real pressing need for him to ship you a tracking #.

This guy is not a professional seller. All of his Ebay comments are buyer related. Those of us who do this as a business know that customer service is everything. We keep in close contact with our customers during transactions. Buyers, quite often, do not. I can’t even count the number of times I have received no safe delivery confirmation from a buyer despite specifically requesting them to do so. Does he have lousy contact skills?…yes. Could he possibly have been intending to screw you?…sure. The point is that you labeled him as crooked before you had any real reason to.

Bad Guy posts on this forum are generally posted after a deal has gone sour and the parties have been unable to settle it between themselves. When you go after the guys reputation in the manner you did with only the evidence you have presented here to back it up how can you expect him to respond an anything but a hostile and defensive manner? Again (and for the final time) I say that Pat’s response was totally inappropriate as well. He should have shipped to you on Monday…definitely. He was completely in the wrong there. But (and here is the main point in a nutshell) you did not know at the time of your post that he had not shipped. For all you knew, the truck was on it’s way.

We have belabored this point long enough and I am reasonably sure that further discussion is not going to bring my point into focus for you so this will be my final entry on this thread.

One last point, I thick the Webslaves thoughts on parameters for “Bad Guy” posts are excellent. Guidelines like those would prevent this from happening in the future.

Jim.... I have to go along with everyone else here.... It's happened to ME!!, but, the other way around.... just this past weekend!!.... Even though I put a notice in my signature for last weekend (I did the Jacksonville Show) that I wouldn't be around.... not EVERYBODY looks at it??.... A customer of mine sent me PayPal on Friday evening (I went to sleep at 8pm to get up at 3am for the 4-hour drive, and I turned off my phones).... I didn't get back to my computer (or PayPal) till Sunday afternoon!!.... My customer didn't know what to think, because I answer most emails BEFORE the customer hits the Send button!!.... I really AM that fast!.... lol.... The point is that HE didn't know I was gone, and HE started to panic.... I got a dozen emails from him on Saturday calling me every name in the book and threatening everything he could (I'm glad he didn't realize about the BOI, whew!).... Did I get mad???.... NO NO NO.... I understood completely, and after ONE return email on my part, everything was cool again, and he felt like a total idiot!.... I kinda liked that part of it!.... You were very quick to jump the gun, buddy, especially on a weekend.... There is NO WAY I would have posted anything until, at least Tuesday, if I still hadn't heard from him.... he might have gotten the Chams, and forgot to email you that they arrived and just left town for the weekend??.... It's been known to happen.... Man, life's too stressful as it is.... why add to it, you'll have ulcers before your 40!!

....Neil

John, sorry for jumping on you. I had no right ! and I did jump on pat to fast also, by bringing it here. I just did not want to let the dog lay and die before I had a chance to fix it.I did tell pat to contact me or I would be coming here and then I sent him a e-mail saying last chance. with no responce, after he contacted me tuesday I think, he said he works long days on the weekend and he said when he got home he should have e-mailed me but he wanted to sleep instead. I e-mailed him and left messages( 2) on his phone to just at least contact me and we would have this worked out but why ? he choose not to
Jim 4:12 pm weds.

Jim may have been quick to post here, bye what a day, the guy with the truck should have called him.. If i do a trade, both parties better stick to the agreed upon shipping schedule, no excuses and if not, that's why Fauna is here. If that guy had my chams and would not answer my calls or emails and was 2 shipping days late, i would do the same thing unless i know them.

a minor communication problem that quickly escalates to name throwings and bomb droppings...the way of the world basically because two people did not sit down face to face and talk about the deal...the BIGGEST problem with the explosion of the internet as a medium for communication...in the back of Jims mind as soon as he did not hear back from Patrick the artillery shells are loaded... "this lil f***** is rippin me off"...(yup, its in all of our heads)...email bombs were fired, counterfire is returned, and thus the war (BOI as the battleground) is started...been there, done that...got a ball python off of herpauction (what a mess)...won the auction, guys sez great, send the money order, I say is fine but how/when are you going to ship...no reply...2 weeks the guy emails me "you f-in deadbeat, thanks for wasting my time" ( he's waitin fer the money order to make sure i'm legit, i guess)...I fire back " F you and all your family!"...more bombs...we take a breath, straighten it out and we get our ball python..."Jaw, jaw, jaw; is better than war", said Winston Churchill...hope y'all get it worked out...so far nobodie's been a good guy lol...sorry for the rant (in the midst of a wakenbake ;) )

peace, chris

Ripped off by Patrick renwick

Well it seems he has ditched me again, He claims he sent the truck out but then after not recieving it a week later I find out that he put the wrong zip code on it he has been in touch but now for the last 5 days he has not contacted me
so far nothing has been done on his part to not make this a rip off situation, I will post back
Jim Scharphorn

Jim,

As I told you on the phone. I doubt very seriously that he put the incorrect zip code on the package and that it was supposedly returned and waiting for him at the PO. When you take a box and pay for it in person (like he would have done with this box) they tell you if you put the incorrect zip code. Below are what shows up as for your zip code and the possibilites if it were reversed according to the USPS website on Zip Code Locations.

49417 Grand Haven MI
49471 NO SUCH ZIP CODE
71494 NO SUCH ZIP CODE
44971 NO SUCH ZIP CODE
44917 NO SUCH ZIP CODE

I think that should shed a little light on his reversing the zip code BS. I am sorry to hear that this person is still ripping you off and is not making better on it. I would advise contacting his Local Law Enforcement Office and filing charges for theft.

Rob, I cannot rule out the attempt because he said he used the zip code 48417 I checked with the post office and they said there is a zip of that code in Michigan
But with him not contacting me all week I think it is a done deal I am tired of trying and am going to give up and start contacting the police and also contacting ebay becasue he used them as a reffrence, I am sure they will fraun on that one, He has dug his own grave with anyone that uses this site will know not to deal with him even if he has items to sell in the future no one will trust him if they know of him.
I think it was a rip off from the get go because he never contacted me within 48 hrs to tell me one was not doing good, I would have contacted the seller the minute I opened the box he did not, so I believe he had no intention to make it right.

I think you're going to want to post your full name, that might have something to do with the post being removed.

Ha Ha Ha chamguy, Man I sure wish I knew what he posted.
Well he finally contacted me today he says that he sent the truck and I probably got it and I want more from him. What a joke, he wants me to prove 100% that I did not recieve it. He sent it ground services with no extras. My post man knows us well and he can vouch for it.
PATRICK RENWICK has done nothing to take care of this matter I last emailed him and told him to enjoy the chams and that I was done trying ( I give Up ) it is not worth me woring about it everyday. As far as this matter goes he is a scam artest. If I ever recieve payment I will post it here But this person is not to be trusted
If anyone knows how I can find the pet stores, dealers in his area please email me at [email protected]
He says also that I cannot hurt him here because he is small time and only would do business in his area anyway.
