In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy RobbieHamper(elegantreptileimages)

We are going with the odds here Steve. I don't mean dismiss your idea, but the likely hood that it is parthenogenesis is so astronomical I don't have any numbers for it.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
Fertile eggs from a crested gecko with absolutely NO documentation of parthenogenesis in cresteds means one thing in my opinion ... it was with a male who bred her. So yes, I am dismissing it as a possibility in this case.

I understand what your saying. But I've seen/read about parthogenesis in so many reptilian species (snakes/lizards) I can not put the thought to the way side. Especially over the last few years there has been numerous occasions with Boas/Leachies/Gargs/leopards etc.

I put this Post up upset, But in reality its a Good thread about my experience with the seller. and the fact that she hasn't emailed, or taken the time to state anything is beyond me, I apologized - even stated it could have been a mistake on her part. but god forbid owning up to it i guess. i'm waiting for a email, with her saying she was out of state, or busy, or something that i won't believe. but the evidence i have, i put here to let others decide if they'd buy from her. some people have had great purchases from her from what the beginning of the post said, I Guess i'm just the oddity that ends up with a gravid virgin mary. Also, Thanks melissa i ordered her that fruit mix right after that comment was posted. & Steve, If she has another clutch next month - should i take the shed from all of them, and when she sheds and send it to that doctor?

because it's pretty obvious i can't get a female crested knocked up the day i get her, and have her lay the day after. at this point, if she does come forward it's been about a week. she knows this thread is here. I just checked on Rye, who is starting to look a little wider on her sides and more as what appeared to me as 'healthy'. i'll be putting a lay box in her enclosure the first week of july, and if she lays, will be taking more pictures.

I am positive Rye will thrive in your care.

Steve, I agree with you that there has been more & more cases of it lately ... I just don't see it as a likely possibily. It is an interesting scenario, just not a possibility IMO. If this was a leachie I would say yes it is a possibility.

And now before we get warned to stay on topic, I will say goodnight & Ashley you are a caring owner and she is in good hands.

Thanks y'all!

I read through this whole post as it was entertaining at first and then informative, not only about geckos and breeders, but as an added bonus, it made it kinda clear who here on this forum is a logical person, and maybe some people I wouldn't take advice from ever.

Ashley- I was impressed by how you handled yourself here. Not very many people will take a step back and say they might be wrong.

People can make the mistake of housing a male with a female, most certainly if they have hundreds of geckos, the mistake can be made. and Thats all I Can come up with. I researched parthenogenesis Aswell and found nothing, i do Know that someone said they've ended up with eggs that were fertile then the cheerio faded. It's been a week, and the cheerio is just getting darker now. I haven't spoken with the seller since i replied to her only Email. I'm Hoping she doesn't lay again, Even considering Darkening the windows and changing the temp in my room but dont want it to effect my other gecks. My Scale should be arriving tomorrow. to guesstimate[\b] she looks/feels to be 17-18 grams now, or less.

Those would be SHOCKINGLY large eggs -- they usually weigh 1-2 grams each, so it would be really rare for a female to lose more than 4 grams from laying. 10 is pretty much unheard of.

I will order it tonight! she has found no interest in crix or phoenix worms, but does eat her CGD. But In the one email i got, i was told she got fed only crix that were supplemented with calcium & Repashy.. She hasn't the slightest interest in them now though.:shrug01:

thanks for the heads up on the super fruit mix though!

I've had excellent luck putting weight back on cresteds (and other species) by buying freeze-dried fruit flies, grinding them to a powder in a blender or mortal and pestle (I use the latter), and mixing that powder in with the CGD.

well I wasn't aware of how much the eggs weighed, I was just saying what she looks/feels. If you look in the before/after pictures you can see the size difference. I'm waiting on my scale now. So she should weigh around 23-24 grams i'm guessing since she was 28.6 yes?

As Soon as me and (Kaseyy) Got back to her House after the expo we weighed her, we were guessing 17-18 grams. But when she weighed in at 28.6 we were astonished.

Robbie produces a lot of geckos, and I'm guessing she probably raises them in small groups. If that's true then the gravid gecko would be as simple as a missexed male making it's way into a female bin. I really doubt Robbie would start to breed a female just to turn around and sell it for less than half of what this years babies would be.

Aside from that the gecko pictured looks to be in great shape. No need for special diets, etc. Offer CGD and dusted crickets and she'll be fine.

I have known Robbie sense I was 14 years old. There is one thing that Robbie is not and that is a liar. She is very up front and honest. I am not going to comment on the gecko and the transaction as I was not there.

But if Robbie says she only sells virgin females she truly believes that and it would only be a mistake if there was a gravid female slipping through.

I have gone to Robbie for advise many times. When it comes to honesty and being friendly she is it.

Just wanted to say Robbie is not a liar. She would never lie to gain a buck.

You Think it's okay for a 28 gram Female to be carrying eggs? Thats not great shape. the mistake can be made and all robbie had to do was say it. instead she Tried to be intimidating and threatening and stay on her high horse and proclaim she was a VIRGIN and i was LYING.

My Gecko looks to be in great shape right now because she is carrying another clutch.

She has a Special Diet, Because if she didn't she could get eggbound.
I Have to keep her weight up for who knows how long, Just to make sure she does NOT get eggbound.

I have had no contact with Robbie since her only email.
I Don't see her ever contacting me again, I even said I'd give her updates in my reply to her Email to Me.

I was upset and jumped the gun, That was established about 40 some posts+ ago, She still could have been a business woman and not let her emotions get to her aswell

So you bought a gecko on the 9th, she laid a clutch on the 10th, and is now visibly carrying another clutch on the 18th??

You seem to have a magical crested gecko there ma'am.

Something about the emotional overreacting of a complete newbie does amuse me however, so thanks I guess.

I get your point but was that last line honestly necessary?

Not to mention, there is nothing amusing about having a gecko who isn't at breeding weight, laying fertile eggs.

That was pretty Rude.
This isn't slightly amusing, My Gecko was 28.6 Grams when i got her. (weighed at my friends house) Day of the expo, When we got home.
Which was UNDERWEIGHT For carrying eggs.
She laid Eggs the that night/next day, Where as i didn't have a scale on hand.
my Scale came in the mail 2 days ago, She's now up to 32.5 grams with my care and trying to get her weight up.
I'll be content once she's up about 8 more grams.

Her around 4 days ago

Her Today.

She looks/feels pretty gravid too me.
The first week of july, I should Know. She's also been digging in her laybox like a madman.
This thread was me Being upset at first, But turned out to be pretty informational. I thank the people who took the time and read through the entire thread, and also People who Looked at it from 2 points of view and not just Mine.

I understand with sellers who breed Many animals, mistakes can happen.
I just wish that the seller could have owned up to it;
She doesn't sell online so no one will really care about this thread other than if they attend expo's.
But atleast i took the time to post the evidence I have.

Thanks,
Ashley Hill.
