Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy RodentPro- Zoonotic disease warning

I have used RP for the couple years without any problems. Overall, the rodents they send me have been clean and fresh.
Sometimes there is some poop, not in obscene amounts. Sometimes the rodents smell a little like pee, not overwhelming. Sometimes a feeder (usually pinkies or fuzzies) has a leg or two missing that had broken off while it was frozen, Again, no big deal.
Many years ago I used to kill and freeze my own rodents. When the rodents were killed they would evacuate their bowels and bladders resulting in some leakage in the bag when I was freezing them. It seems to me that SOME urine and fecal material is to be expected; not soaked in pee or caked with feces.

I just placed an order with RodentPro during their last special. The rodents came very fresh, clean and nicely packed. I was very impressed, and I've used some of the rats with no problems. I would happily order from them again.

Got an order once never again, the rats were soaked in pee and poop not to mention most had cyst or tumors of some sort which uh hello gross! Not to mention when thawed they seeped a greenish thick ooze from ears nose and anus or any sores. I tossed them into a fire because it wasn't worth the risk. Rp needs to get it together. I ordered a while back. Lucky for me I found a great place to get rats which is where I also work. I've heard of other issues with rp when my husband placed an order for a buddy of his at work. I have to wonder what I ordered wasn't frozen ASAP and then sat in the freezer for over a year. :/ wonder if anyone else on here had an issue. We were discussing it in a boa group on fb.

I highly doubt rp had their inventory sitting in a freezer for over a year. The shear volume of rodents they move is amazing. I also highly doubt your claims of green ooze, open sores and tumours.

I wonder if some of these accusations are true or not. We have ordered several times from rodent pro and never once had a problem. Casey is very helpful alao and when we request the larger of the mediums they have no problem doing it. Their customer service is awesome. If for some reason yall have a problem then go somewhere else but i will stick with them until im self sufficient with our own rat collection.

You are free to believe what you will but I know what I experienced and it wasn't fun at all. I don't know how they run their business I just know what I got was not a good product that should have been shipped out. I don't know if they were frozen thawed then refrozen due to an issue or what but I just thought I'd put my two cents in, which is what the bio is for. I now use local and like it much better and I don't have to pay such a huge chunk for shipping because I don't order as many rats as most do.

I have tried multiple different rodent suppliers and so far RodentPro is my favorite. All my orders have been clean, no poop, no pee, no blood. I haven't seen any bugs on the rats (which is what happened when I ordered from a different supplier). And once they sent me a bag of mice that looked discolored and probably had been defrosted and frozen again, so without even asking for pictures they replaced that portion of my order. Had nice fresh mice within days.

My Experience with Rodent Pro

I've ordered five times over the past three years from rodent pro. Never a problem. The order comes impeccably tightly packed in a box with insulation and dry ice. The rodents are frozen more solid in that box than in my freezer. The large rats are large rats. The XLs are monsters. Not what you get at your local Petco or Petsmart. Order by Thursday and you will get it by Friday of next week. Their website makes buying easy and automatically calculates percentage of space available in the box so you can maximize your savings buying in bulk. Last order I spent $115(including shipping) for rats for my tics. Buying from Petco and Petsmart would have cost me $400. I don't doubt a company screws up once in a while. But I hope if they have, they make things right and get back on track. I've only had good experiences.

Sorry, Erika, but this screams of ulterior motives:

I've used RP for 5 years...never seen any greenish thick ooze.

I wonder if rodent pros recently large number of issues is the reason why shipping is only 30 bucks now and they have slashed prices on some of their supply like they have never done before. Decline in sales I would assume... I used them for close to 10 years now I buy local.

I used them about 10 years ago. The product smelled bad and the rats were contorted and looked like they had been dropped from a plane...lol...They are really, really bad news.

I condemn any website that has the audacity to accept their advertising. The sites that do care more about their advertisers than the public and their animals..... shame... shame... shame on you. My 0.02

We've used RP for about 5-6 years, placing large orders a couple times a year for our ever-growing collection. Never had a problem, mice have been good quality. As another poster mentioned, when the mice are killed they will often void their bladders/bowels, so I don't consider a few dabs of urine here and there or an occasional turd to be a problem...and these are truly occasional. The animals are generally very clean. We've never had a problem with our snakes eating them, never had a sick snake, etc. Their customer service has been great, prompt processing of orders, all orders have arrived frozen hard as a rock, etc. I know every company will screw up now and then, but we haven't experienced any issues. We're getting ready to place another order as our animals are coming out of brumation.

A friend of mine did an order of mice from them a while back. The mice arrived in bags with quite a lot of feces and urine and somewhat squishy/a little thawed. Then they did another order more recently and voila, perfect mice. Not folded up nicely like some companies do, but clean and healthy looking. I don't really get it. And before someone bites my face off, I'm posting this as my own evidence since I saw the bags personally not as my friend's testament or whatever.

Size matters

Only issue I ever had was that on a few orders the size between the peach fuzzies and fuzzies was non tangible. The size between the hoppers and weanlings also no difference. Orders always frozen even after 4-6 days. And I still use them. I have a freezer I only use for rodents and reptile feeders, so no issues with food.

. I told the issue I had. I've only worked at the place I am now at for less than a month. They don't breed they buy so I am not seeing how this is motive I don't even know where my boss gets the from I just know it isn't rodent pro. Again maybe you didn't have and issue but I did. And it was quite a while away from the job I'm at now. This is the bio therefore if I had a problem I'm within my rite to voice it wether or not YOU specifically had issues with them I did

I ordered from them at a reptile show november of 2013, frozen pinkies and frozen adult mice.

Where does this problem stand, Do I need to throw out these rodents?
What about future orders?

Thanks

We've ordered from them off and on for the past few years without issue. The only 'problem' we've had is some inconsistency with the sizes of their pinkies/fuzzies, but it's never been enough to make us look for another distributor.

rodent pro do not breed all they sell. I suspect that accounts for sizes differences. They also don't much care, or use to not much care, from whom they bought. I doubt any of you recent posters have read the entire thread, but did you know that at least one of their suppliers had their their entire stock of live rodents killed and then all cages, bodies and the buildings they were bred in were burned to the ground by the CDC.

The virus they had in their frozen rodents was NOT killed by freezing and DID make several of their employees sick. I don't recall if any of them died, but if you are immuno-compromised, this could have killed you.

It would have been one thing had they simply admitted it and let people know. They instead chose to deny, lie, admit and wait the 90 days it takes people to forget, then count on the new customers they would gain by selling at low prices (and we ALL know that price is king to 90% of shoppers) being satisfied and saying so, as would any of us with any purchase that pleased us. Newbs don't know the history.

They've cleaned up for now, but what about next time?

I posted in this original thread further back. I stopped buying from them because of this thread. And if you have a link or further information about a whole building having had to be burned down I'd love to read it. I'm not doubting you, that's just some heavy, heavy duty prevention.

Or, well, I believe I posted in this thread. I know I certainly read it and I stopped buying from them because of it.

When you make accusations of buildings being burned to the ground, it weakens your credibility and therefore your other more reasonable claims. I doubt this accusation. Post evidence or a link to evidence.
