    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi All,

Some promising news about an endangered species…for a change! Please let me know your thoughts – is the program worthwhile?
Mauritius, an island nation off the coast of southeast Africa, is best known to naturalists as the site of the Dodo Bird’s extinction (Mauritius also is, in a sense, the reason I was hired by the Bronx Zoo and spared life as a lawyer – see article below for the story!). Herp enthusiasts, however, know it as the habitat of several unique reptiles, all of which are now very rare or extinct. But we can delight in some news just released by the Durrell Wildlife Trust - a new population of the Round Island or Keel-scaled Boas, Casarea dussumieri, will soon be established in the wild. This unusual snake disappeared from nearly all of its range in the 1860’s, and its return is the culmination of 40 years’ worth of captive breeding and habitat restoration efforts. Hi, Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, there's not yet too much cooperation between zoos and private breeders of snakes; some interaction with turtles and frogs, which will hopefully expand, but right now there are no opportunities to work with this species outside of zoos/field research. Im hoping to help with re-population of Hog Island Boas as they are being wc out of existence, there needs to be some legislation in place to protect them and some wildlife enforcement to protect them then ill start turning clutches over to them to repopulate, im looking for a program to become involved in like this, im disabled but would like to leave a mark on the world before i go and this with guidance is something i can do. Thanks for responding man, that alone is encouraging, pls point me if u can to projects needing help.
