In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Scammer salmondu

Don't misconstrue this as an attack. I'm simply curious if these are your ads, Ed? Also, how are you affiliated with "All Marinelife Transship LLC", Rodeo, California? I'm not insinuating you are engaged in anything illegal; I'm just curious.

PS ... my (or any other member's) political preferences have absolutely nothing to do with this inquiry nor are your political preferences/insults in any way relevant to this thread.

Well now, that certainly is a smoking gun. Given it's the same name and number, I'm going to go ahead and assume it's the same guy. The above advise, i.e. taking animals out of Australia and avoiding customs, would not make you a broker, it would make you a smuggler. Very interesting find, Laura!

Noelle

Forgot to add that you can clear a shipment yourself without a Broker. It just takes a little more work and know-how to do so...

I could be wrong, but in the 5 minutes of research so far, I've come across a few different Coral suppliers that Export from Australia....

http://www.australiancoralfarms.com.au/

Where in that post did he say he was not clearing these shipments illegally?

I can't get this website to come up. I'll try again later. I also found several other exporters, but they were in Australia. Maybe there are some here and I've not come across them yet. If you look up 'shipping fish from Australia to US' there's really nothing out there.

There are a few other red flags in there. A lot of simple words spelled wrong, the zip code and address of the bank is wrong, "deposit money directly into my account". Maybe a witchhunt as Mike suggested, but if this were anyone else's ad, wouldn't someone be pointing out the red flags?

Are we looking at two different adds here? There are Coral Exporters in Australia and Coral Importers in Florida. What does shipping Fish have to do with the adds in the screenshot?

As for the Bank information - I see no dates on either one of those screen shots. Banks move their branches all the time. South Florida is no different. Addresses can become outdated in a matter of days. You are basically paying a consulting fee to setup a Coral Importing business, nothing less nothing more. How is this whole Coral deal relevant to this thread? How does this "prove" that this is a scam? After all, a consultation is only an opinion of one person, and opinions may or may not be wrong? You are paying for a service, and as long as that service is provided what is the issue?

You're probably right; certainly not worth an unpleasant exchange. I'm not denying the existence of legal exporters. I'm referring to the difficulty of legally removing any native animal from Australia. I'm speaking from 30 years of running dive trips all over the world and teaching people about ocean flora and fauna, and the laws protecting them. These animals are often run through several countries on their route to the US in order to sidestep customs regulations, often with gruesome results. True import/export consultants usually don't run ads using poor grammar and ask for money deposited directly into a bank account. Would you send money to someone's account without the protection of payapl or credit card? What does this have to do with thread? If he is doing something shady, he shouldn't be selling animals at all. If not, my sincerest apologies to the seller and all involved.

Things seem to have drifted a bit
Mr Jones,
I personally don't care about your feelings regarding your infraction...and if you want to vent your opinions about this thread, do it here. If you feel a need to address me privately, send me a PM - do not call my home phone again. I'll also recommend against leaving me voice messages.
If you want to talk about how you are "coming after FaunaClassifieds", use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page to reach the site administrator.

Can he get me some rocks from Mars? If he needs a picture of a large snapper, I'll be glad to provide him with one. But I would suggest that he takes a picture of his own snappers and posts his adds with it. I do not understand how using someone elses photo all of the sudden made him a scammer. This whole bio about this is a joke and better than a soap opera.

So this guy is threatening to sue this site? Doesn't appear to be a very smart move on his part, IMHO. I had a bunch of people wanting me to ban him and pull his ads here. re: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=397638 I basically defended his privilege of being here and posting ads on this site, regardless of the controversial nature of them. Silly me. :shrug01: But perhaps someone being so unfriendly as to threaten to sue this site because of what someone else has posted here IS sufficient grounds to NOW ban him and pull his ads..... Why should I grant access to the features and benefits of this site to someone who threatens to attack it? I don't believe there is any law that says I must, now is there? :shootfoot

I do not understand how using someone elses photo all of the sudden made him a scammer..

You are right. Using the photo/s, belonging to someone else, does not, automatically, make a person a scammer. Such person may, or may not, be one.

However, the negative effects, of using another person's photo (without owner's consent), could, at the very least end, upset the photo's owner &/or could be viewed (by others) as unethical or suspicious (esp. if "offender" does not own the depicted animal). Even if the "offender" did so without any malice intended &/or without realizing they were doing wrong.
At most, it is copyright infringement (and owner, of photo, is displeased).
Sadly, there ~are~ too many scammers out there. So, another negative effect is that, whether such person (using the photo of another) is a scammer, or not, it does have the possibility of bringing the thought, to someone's mind, that such person could, potentially, be a scammer (if it is not obvious, of course).

Hi Mike, not sure if you missed it, but it appears Ed was referring to you:

But you keep dreamin. And I don't think you can fly down to Bama (RT) for $200.00. Furthermore Bama stopped all collecting of all Turtles. Otherwise Mike Guglicrook would be doing it.

I'm not sure if he spelled it wrong or if he is calling you a crook. You seem to be a good guy some I'm not sure what he meant.

the issue

Aside from him using another person's photo without permission and threatening the site, the issue with this guy is he is promoting an unsustainable practice to sell to a country that does not care about anything except getting what they want so they can sell it and make money.
China is the leading consumer of rhino horn, tiger penis and pangolin.
Once these turtles become critically endangered what makes anyone think the consumption will end? it will lead to snapper poaching.

Obviously salmondu is not smart to advertise on fauna; he might as well be trying to sell mink coats on the PETA website.

I say turn him over to the US Department of Fish and Game and let them determine the legality of his excessive collecting activities. Most animals have a limit to what you can take and it is usually well below 300 per person.

When someone people don't like for whatever reason does it = scammer
When someone who has been a good guy does it = he must have made a mistake. Oops.

I personally can't stand a picture thief. Sounds like that's just the tip of the iceberg with the object of this thread.

You might want to look at Georgia collecting regulations before wasting the Feds' time:

100 per year - Florida Softshell Turtle (Apalone ferox), Spiny Softshell Turtle (Apalone spinifera ssp.), River Cooter (Pseudemys concinna concinna)

300 per year - Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina), Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta picta), Eastern Mud Turtle (Kinosternon subrubrum subrubrum), Loggerhead Musk Turtle (Sternotherus minor minor)

500 per year - Pond Slider (Trachemys scripta ssp.)

Five species are not protected at all:

Chicken Turtle (Deirochelys reticularia reticularia), Common Musk Turtle (Sternotherus oderatus), Florida Cooter (Pseudemys floridana floridana), Florida Red-bellied Cooter (Pseudemys nelsoni), Striped Mud Turtle (Kinosternon baurii).

Again, not defending him. But, that's a qualm with a morality issue. It's well within the rights that the state allows.

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone the practice. It is wrong to use photos, belonging to others, without the owner's consent.
I would be extremely upset if someone used one of my photos, without permission, to sell their animal/s, etc. Even more upset/angry if used in a scam &/or has/had family member/s in photo/s.
Point is that "good guy", or "bad guy", it does not, automatically, mean the person is a scammer. Especially if they are honest in that the animal, in the photo, is not theirs and is only an example of the species.
However, yes, it does appear that this is only one problem associated with the subject (person) of this thread.
