If you still have the message forward it to Kingsnake.com and let them know it's an african scammer so they can look into it and ban the account to prevent them from being able to contact other vendors through the site.

Definitely a scam, i have had these western union scams attempted on me back in UK. Nigeria is a major scam country for these. I have had people actually send me checks for thousands of $ for an item 1/10 the price & request the balance be sent via western union.
I took a check to the bank & it was confirmed a fraud.
I also approached a policeman friend of mine & he came back with Nigeria as a major hub for these scams.

I received an email from him this past week as well for a $2200 snake, letting me know he will be sending a check ASAP. Bummer...

bad also a false check can take up to 45 days to report as bad this also includes bank checks

He didn't say DEPOSIT the check, just make the scammers go through the trouble of mailing it... or play along even more after getting it! The possibilities are endless!

It is pretty entertaining to string one of these scammers along. At the end of 4 or 5 emails to them, agreeing and in general seeming as if one was a pigeon waiting to be plucked, they are practically salivating at the prospect of a successful scam. There's a couple of really good ones around in the archives somewhere.

well some people may not know that d3eposit the check and bank will release the funds in 1-5 business days or even cash it against your balance then you think check is good and send them the xtra the check was written for ..


i have a friend fell for this scam as a secret shopper evaluating how western union works the sent him one check for 700 and he kept 200 they said he did such a good job they sent another check for 2 k next and he could keep 500 . he wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed and lost some cash

She knows how to use the quote function. The middle 'end quote' (forward-slash QUOTE) is getting cut off for some reason when the quote button is used for a quote within another quote. I didn't notice it until it happened to my earlier post also.

Regardless, if someone's reading this, they obviously know it's a scam. Telling them that it's fun to play along and make the scammers send the check isn't going to confuse others into thinking we are telling them to actually use the check...

Ahh. I just realized that the problem originated from your messed up quote in post #26 and it just perpetuated itself through the other quotes... there's nothing wrong with how Lucille or I tried to quote. see above.
