In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sheila Topp/Shelialovesanimals BAD! BAD! VERY BAD!

FYI, is it possible that this is what I have seen referred to as "YELLOW FUNGUS"? It resembles what I can find about it online.

I am keeping this lizard on the complete other side of the house and away from anything remotely reptilian.

Sigh of relief

I was so relieved when you posted that she was alive! I almost cried when i saw the pictures.

Lets hope all turns out well!

Sheila posted this here on Fauna on 8/28/04. I'm guessing this is the Uro you received.

REPTILEMAX

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT IS GOING ON? I BOUGHT A MALI FROM THEM, VERY SICK!!!!! THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY, BUT I HAVE PAID OVER $137 AT VET VISITS WITH HER. MY MALI WAS ALL OVER WITH FUNGUS, 3 TOES BROKEN, AND A TICK LODGED UNDER HER CHIN. NOW I KNOW, WHY THEY ARE SO CHEAP.

Hey! I am very glad to see the Mali is alive... and to say the least adult or child this person is a cook.

I am wondering if perhaps the warts are a reaction to an unclean cage? So unclean as to have it sitting in it's own feces? Or perhaps mold?

Or if perhaps this is signs of some sort of blister, since you say they are hard.. perhaps it was burnt - hotrock or something??

Hope it gets better!!
-Annie

Oh... and report her. ASPCA, Animal Cruilty, the police.. the whole nine yards. Adult or child using her moms name and info - she needs to be put in a padded cell away from ANYthing she could hurt.
Since after all it's a proven fact that people who abuse animals later grow up to commit more horrible crimes. Which psychologically would point to all the posts of "sex feind" and all her weird perverse emails to everyone.

I am so glad she has got you to take care of her now Aprylla, that poor baby! Why in the world would she ship such a sick animal? I'll bet within 2 weeks of you having her we wont even recognize it as the same mali. I'll be sure to check back often to see any updates!!

:hot: Im glad it arrived to you alive, but the condition is just out right neglect :hot: people like this are just not worth being alive :hot: wheather it is a kid or an adult, they should be more then reported to the proper autharities(sp) they should be made to live the life they make these creatures live. Aprylla I have faith in you to bring it out of this and know it is now in a better place :scatter: as for Sheila wheather your a child or an adult you should take a few steps back and see that you need some real help I hope you live in better conditions then you gave this poor Gods creature. In the end you will be Judged by god himself......Hope you have the right answers for Him...

yellow fungus...

Aprylla, yellow fungus occurs when the animal has been treated with antibiotics (albon, panacur etc) and has not been treated with a probiotic (AcidophoLiz+, Nutri-Bac, Bene-Bac etc.) to replace the natural gut flora that has been flushed out of the animals stomach.
Hope nobody minds the link http://www.reptilerooms.com/forumtopic-74.html .
That should give you some info on it, although it shows some symptoms of Yellow Fungus, i know that it is more common in bearded dragons.

That was a scary thought DAND

Bubble wrapped and in my closet....and we all know she's a self admitted SEX-A-HOLIC. I hid under the blankets with Lucy our fearless Jack Russell, she won't let anyone near us while we're in bed.

I am happy to hear that at least the animal had been to a vet.

Aprylla, does it look like the medication that was prescribed was being administered, or is the bottle still full?

Good luck getting her well :)

Apyrilla,

Im glad that the Uro is alive!!!! I cant beleive that someone would let an animal get into that position, especially something as nice as a mali uro. :bawling: Best of luck to you in bringing her back to form!!! Please keep us updated as to her condition, especially what your vet says!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrr!! stupid sheila.... She should be reported to the fullest extent of the law!

*hugs*
Jamie A. Stine

i wonder if sheila was doing what the vet recommended?
did the vet say anything about this shiela person? did he/she have any insight into how the lizard got so sick?

i havent ever seen anything like that before, but im a new herper compared to you guys. :)

is there any way to check if shiela has ever been in trouble for animal cruelty/neglect crimes?

good luck with the lizard, tending the sick is not fun! my best wishes are with you and your uro.

Are you sure that is a female?
I just was noticing the enlarged pores and bulges.
I only have experience with Leos so who knows. But to me, it looks like a male.

Good luck with it. Sheila certainly does love animals doesn't she...

As much as I disdain Sheila's behavior, I believe that that uro came to her sick.

She *DID* take it to the vet.

She *DID* find a home for it with someone that could care for it.

I'm not sure that she followed the vet's instructions, and it certainly doesn't seem like she managed to get the animal healthy. I'm guessing she wasn't quite prepared for vet bills.

So, all in all, she could have done worse things.

She, sheila, is not the first to sell sick uros here and NO I am not bagging on anyone in particular. Frequently, as many of us know, the imports come in bad.

Given her instability and the fact that imports do come in next to death on occasion along with the fact that she did take it to the vet I'd say that we're done here.

It's a wrap.

Aprylla, keep us posted please as many of us want a happy ending here.

sheila, please get some help or if you already have, believe them and take your meds.

This thread was a tad amusing until now... :(

Best of luck bringing that poor thing back to health.

Unfortunately, the bottle appears to have only had *maybe* 1 ounce gone from it (still full almost to the top). It was prescribed on 9/13/04 and was supposed to be used twice daily. It appears that it was not used very often. The vet had no further info. She read everything in the file to me in detail. Sine there was never a follow-up visit to see if the anti-fungal spray worked, there were never more tests run. There was also not a fecal done, which will be something I will have my vet do asap.

FYI, the Uro scarfed down nearly an entire large mustard green leaf tonight (finely chopped with a little bit of vitamins added). She was hungry. I am giving her small portions of food every coupel hours so that she won't overeat too quickly and get sick. She appears to be eating great. Her weight isn't the worst I've ever seen for an imported Uro, but definitely isn't great.

After I soaked the Uro in warm water today for about an hour, the skin on her belly already looks slightly better. One of the "bumps" actually FELL OFF of her. I examined it as best I could (I was a vet tech 10 years ago) and found it to be a waxy substance (nothing like a cyst) it was just like candle wax after its been melted off the candle and re-forms. Underneath the "bump" was a small hole in the skin, but it appears to have new skin growing under it. I decided to not only use the spray medication from the vet, but also to use an anti-fungal cream on those bumps as well (several hours after using the spray). I have been doing research online about her condition. IMO (and my vet will have to be the one to determine this, I am not a vet) her condition was caused by: unsanitary conditions, an improper or insufficient diet and general bad husbandry and also possibly a yeast-like infection (caused by bad diet). Like I said that is just my opinion. I have had reptiles for almost 12 years now (didn't get into reptiles until I was 20) and just from my experience this looks like neglect. Either on the part of Sheila or the person she purchased the lizard from (*presumably* Reptilemax, but of coarse, I don't know for sure). In any case, I will do all I can to see that the lizard gets healthy again.

I am sure the lizard would look really "cute" to you guys right now. Due to the open belly sore, I decided to make sure no germs got in there and bandaged up her belly (wrapped all the way around her back), it looks almost like a Mali Uro burrito. It doesn't seem to bother her though. She is currently basking under a heat lamp on a full belly of greens.

Will update as there are changes or questions. I am choosing to keep a bit quiet about what is going on "behind the scenes" right now regarding Sheila and who she is being reported to, etc. I will say though, just because I have the Uro and it is alive, this has not stopped here. Will post more when I can about other actions being taken regarding Sheila.

Thank you all so much for your public support as well as all the kind and encouraging private mesages I have received. I promise to keep everyone informed of the Uro's condition as it progresses.

Wow...I saw this coming. LOL

The nut left me bad feedback on Reptibid:

WARNING!!!! THIS LADY IS A WACKO!! SHE WANT'S SPECIAL EVERYTHING!!! I
PAY FOR IT, AND THEN SHE DOESN'T WANT TO PAY FOR IT. THEN SHE LIES ABOUT

When did *I* become the "Seller"???

That's ok, when the authorities get done with her she is going to wish she never even owned a reptile.

I'd leave her negative feedback as well a link to this thread so potential buyers can see the pics of the condition her animals are kept.
