In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Shipnex (anyone used them?)

As always :)Thank You so Much for the kind words

I try to give credit where credit is do

Actually it is sort of funny this came up considering you just helped my husband Ian with a package today! He got off the phone talking about how helpful you were......again. As always lol. So again, thanks and you all keep up the good work!

Have any of you compared prices between the three label companies? Compare a 12 x 9 x 9 box overnight. I am comparing a shipment from CA to NY.

ReptilesExpress.com

If your not a fedex account holder the rates are higher. The more you ship the lower your rates get.

I have received two packages in the last few months that were shipped using Nexco. They both came by UPS and they were geckos, so it doesn't seem to me that they use Fedex.

I've recently become Fedex certified and I hardly ship anything at all, so I know I'm not getting much of a bulk discount. I don't have a RE account, but I've compared SYR, UPS and Fedex. I didn't do NY to Cali since they're big states and we might be choosing very different zip codes. Next day shipping from me (NH) to my Mummy and Daddy's house (NC) was as follows-

Fedex- $61

SYR- $67

UPS- $85

Now for what it's worth... the whole Shipnex thing is pretty sketchy IMO and I certainly wouldn't chance using them. I've had nothing but good experience with SYR and still hold an account with them. When UPS quit shipping for them woke me up to getting my own Fedex account so I did. BUT SYR is providing a valuable service (being able to Fedex to residential addresses) and takes some headache out of the whole process. I imagine RE is the same. Just look at the information their reps have provided for this thread alone. I think for most people, the extra $6 is worth it.

Just a reminder that this thread is about Shipnex, not FedEx, UPS, RE, or SYR. Price comparisons are better suited to the Shipping Forum

I've just started using ShipNex after someone else shipped to me using them (it's herpetologically transmittable). ShipNex looks like it is really just a competitive seller of postage. They quote a price, which seems subject to fluctutation depending on the day of purchase, you buy, you print a label. The label has either been a FedEx label or a UPS label, not a ShipNex label. No rocket science looking at the label, but modestly inconvenient if you're expecting to use one particular courier, although there may be some preliminary indicator before you actually buy it. Both of these are acceptable, so no problem with me.
If you want to track you can do it through ShipNex (IIRC) or through UPS or FedEx as appropriate. There's really nothing to argue about; it's akin to buying stamps from the grocery store instead of the post office except it's a better price. Nothing sketchy about it.

Except when you're supposed to be approved by fedex to ship live animals, but Shipnex isn't. Or... shipping snakes via Shipnex and they randomly decide to us UPS.

That's bigtime sketchy.

You clearly have not read this thread in its entirety.

ShipNex does not have any authorization to be liable for shipping live reptiles with any carrier.

UPS does NOT allow the shipment of snakes. Period.

All they are is a label maker. They hold no responsibility for the package or its contents. That will all fall on the shipper alone.

WOW people, if your going to respond to a thread read the whole thing first! All of these aspects have been covered and your not allowed to ship snakes and probably many other things using Shipnex! While you guys are reading the rest of this thread go ahead and read the lacey act and FedEx and UPS terms of service so you know what is and isn't allowed.

Scott, my post wasn't directed towards you. It was intended for the people who keep coming on here saying oh I shipped with these guys and it was so much cheaper, when they know they were shipping illegally.

Just found out that a guy I did a trade with is shipping his end with these guys. I hope all goes well with this. With how easy it is to ship now (SYR) and NOT having to be certified, I was a little lax in NOT making sure of the shipper. Won't be making that mistake again.

If you are fedex certified you can ship through shipnex with no problem. all you have to do is add a separate label with you acct number on it and state that the acct number is fedex cert to ship live reptiles

Source for this claim? FedEx has gotten after them to shut their site down a couple of times now. They keep bobbing and moving. Very slippery folks there.

Last I heard, they stopped serving known reptile shippers going through their site, and had started issuing UPS labels again.

I could only read the first 2 pages since it's the same things repeated over and over again.

UPS does NOT allow shipment of snakes

Fed EX requires you to be CERTIFIED

And all of you who do NOT follow these 2 simple rules are just hurting the Industry!
