In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
I'd like to see that in writing. What I've found on their written live animal policy is quoted in this thread, and mentions nothing about snakes being prohibited.

Pretty sure it was my rep that told me this. That's why I put in the "if I remember correctly" because I knew I was drawing from memory. If I'm wrong, so be it. Wouldn't be the first time. But I could swear when talking to my rep about all this when I went through the process, she said to me that they don't ship snakes, and I coined back, that's the entire purpose for this certification. (maybe I'm remembering DHL :shrug01: )

These are the reasons I'd rather just use Delta. They'll ship your grandma if she's packaged correctly, and guarantee her safe arrival. But a lot of people don't like the inconvenience of doing what's safest for the animal, or paying a little more in shipping for that safety, so I got Fed Ex certified to make it easier for them that prefer.

It likely could have been FedEx and she was talking out of her butt. It wouldn't be the first time a rep just BS'ed it or had no idea what they were talking about. ;)

I considered Delta, but it would be 2-2 1/2 hrs round trip for travel time for me to get to an airport. The customer would have to pay for my time and I don't see the average person wanting to pay that additional $50 on top of the shipping fee. I guess you could schedule a single day out of every month to send out all of your Delta shipments at once, but I'm not sure the logistics of that since it relies on airport schedules.

that's the problem I have, but Im 3 hours round trip... providing I can breeze thru Memphis traffic which is not likely. Just for me to run to FedEx Im killing about 90 minutes.

After noticing how many people refuse to ship nowadays compared to when I was in the hobby 2 years ago, I started looking into SYR, only to discover that they don't exist anymore due to UPS pulling the plug.

I know that FedEx still requires a waiver to ship live reptiles, so here is my question:

Is it possible for SYR (or someone similar) to get a waivered account through FedEx and run their business that way? Sending out appropriate packaging to customers like they did before and shipping packages on their approved FedEx account?

I say that is a BAD idea. Will just give every one out there who dont follow the rules to ruin it for those who do. UPS had problems with it and lets keep it there. FedEx is out only service to ship snakes besides delta/air, No need to compromise it with 3rd party programs, where your bound to get morons ruining it.

Just thinking of options for those without FedEx accounts, which seems to be really the majority now. There are quite a few animals I would love to have, but 99% of them are pick-up only due to people not being able to ship. Being in Wisconsin, I'm pretty much SOL because I'm not really close enough to anyone to be able to do so. Was just thinking if there was a company like SYR that people could ship through FedEx, safely and legally.

Run a BOI search on REPSTER (or was it REPTSTER?). They attempted a FedEx third party shipping program without the knowledge of FedEx and screwed over a lot of people.

FedEx's certification program is per person (company). Only the person (company) with the waiver is allowed to ship with it. You have to prove you're capable of shipping properly to FedEx before they allow you to use their services for reptiles and the waiver only applies to you.

Ah. I was thinking more along the lines of how SYR did it and do it WITH the knowledge of FedEx. Work something out. But I guess that's not possible.

I may catch flack for this.. but here it goes.

If someone is too lazy to get off their butt and get certified then they dont need to be shipping snakes, and they dont need to be shipping under someone elses account.

The problem with 3rd party shippers is there is no accountability. IF I screw up I am shipping on my account. I can get pulled and it dont affect anyone else. If your shipping on a 3rd party account.... not only can they pull that 3rd party account and affect a lot of folks, they may also decide to scrap the whole program. Why... because there is no accountablility. I believe SYR's and RE was trying to do good for the herp community by trying to get UPS to acknowledge the reptile community and their need to ship snakes. Sadly it is the lack of individual accountability that derailed that progress.

There are way to many folks in this industry that dont care. They dont care if they package and ship their animals crappy. BECAUSE ITS NOT THEIR ACCOUNT. IF your account could be placed in jeopardy, then most folks will do the right thing. But if its not their account they dont care because worse case scenerio. The 3rd party looses their account and the person that caused it will just get one under their own name.

You forgot about them trying to pull that crap with UPS as well right before SYR's came on the scene. :yesnod:

I got caught up in that one. That was my 2nd year breeding. I had planned on using their services to ship my snakes. Then the bottom fell out and I had to pull my ads and shut down for a month why I got certified myself.

It really is NOT that hard to do and why would anyone want to put thier business in the hands of a 3rd party. I learned this lesson the hard way. That's why I didn't jump on the SYR or RE band waggon. I had already been burned by a 3rd party.

Guess what... if I had jumped on the bandwaggon... I'd still be burned.

Folks get your own account!

I was thinking more along the lines of how SYR did it and do it WITH the knowledge of FedEx.

No verifiable waiver was ever provided to the public by SYR. If you ask UPS, they never had permission to do what they did either. Why do you think they're no longer allowed to ship anything?

Of course it's hard to compare the two. UPS prohibits snakes, FedEx prohibits everything (unless you have a waiver). The two courier services have two different issues.

If UPS would go the waiver route I would get certified just so I could have a backup. FedEx will always be my primary though. I get better customer service thru them.

I don't care if I have a waiver with FedEx, UPS, ship Delta Dash, whatever!
I've had trouble with all three of the above offices before due to snake phobic people working there. At Delta's cargo desk, they wouldn't even let me open the box inside the building in mid winter to inspect the condition of the animal. They wanted me to sign a paper indicating everything was peachy and just leave with the box. I refused to do so, at which point the guy had to go outside with me to open the package. All this over a baby boa.
The communication between those that approve shippers and the actual office you use just isn't there so you're often at the mercy of idiots.:yesnod:

I was trying to order some supplies last night and got an error message. Has anyone else had trouble getting any boxes, bags, cups, etc. from shipyourreptiles? I sent an email last night but haven't gotten a response yet.

Was contacted by Walt of ShipYourReptiles and got all of that sorted out. Apparently it was just an issue with the website during maintenance.

Lol, I was just about to post that same email. TBH, I think we won't be able to ship with fed-ex soon

I would run screaming in the opposite direction. Their UPS accounts were pulled so now they're trying to pull a Repster?

Because we are FedEx live certified, you don't have to be.

This specifically is a violation of the waiver. Unless they have proof of an alternative waiver, that's a bunch of horse-hockey.

Not only that, there's a reason that you have to be certified to ship with fed-ex. You have to prove to them that you can package and ship a snake properly. Now SYRs is saying that people who are not certified can ship. This is really the last shipping option, besides delta, and I see some jerk already messing it up.

I normally wouldn't trust ups to ship a lollipop but so far going thru SYR I haven't had any problems that were there fault. I do recommend finding an actual UPS store to drop your packages off as several friends of mine have had problems dropping them at the office supply stores and such. I will say this though, I had someone try to steal my reptiles in a trade by claiming they didn't get the animals but both SYR and UPS went above and beyond to recover the animals from the person and ship them back to me at no extra cost so unless they mess up in some unfathomable way they have my complete loyalty. That being said SYR just started accepting snake shipments again so if you've shipped through them wrongfully then you have no place to complain.
