In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....
I dont like UPS and their 100F trucks my snakes would arrive in. I like the aspect of Climate controlled Fedex vans.

Im sure UPS will see the major hit in profits with snakes have halted on their service. But Fedex is the way to go with live animals.

I keep seeing the vans brought up with regards to FedEx. Just so you know I have gotten more snake shipments out of the big FedEx box trucks than the vans. I think that has more to do with the route, the number of boxes, and the distance from the hub than just express or not.

The vans are EXPRESS vans (says right on the side of them) and are relatively new. I've only seen them here in Hanover this past year, yet they were announced in 2005 (I think that's what I read?). I imagine it will take some time before all hubs have them.

Could someone be so kind as to post a link to the document(s) that fed ex needs you to fill out so that you can send in your test package?

i spoke with a sales rep and she said to go to fedex.com and type in 'live animal shipping' to find it, but never came across it.

thanks in advance!!!

Did you call the "Live animal desk"? The phone# is 1.800.405.9052

The rep you were speaking to may not have even known about this division?

I will post a link below but the appropriate place for discussing other shipping methods is in the shipping forum. Please do so there.

I don't feel like trolling through this whole thread but I did get the SYR email and I was disappointed. I have been on the sending and receiving end of both companies and have not had a problem in quite some time, but I consider that very lucky and fortunate... (crossing fingers)..However, it seems to me that the most trouble happens when the boxes are labeled as to specify the contents. The "Lacey Act" thing seems to be endangering our animals during transit, IMO.

The links for the fedex application are the old version and NOT ACCEPTED by fedex anymore. They require the new revised version. Which i have and its attached in this message.

Sounds like shipping is against us reptile and snake lovers no matter who you ship through.. LOL...

I had a UPS driver deliver an animal to me through SYR, and the man "dropped" the box and then said, and I quote: "oops, oh well you aren't suppose to ship these animals anyhow".

I made a complaint to UPS but nothing came of it. So far... and I stress that.. Only So Far, have my animals from FedEX arrived in perfect condition and 100% on time, if not early... BUT... I can't say which is better due to reading through other peoples posts and their problems.

I had a man from FedEX shake the box in front of me while I was signing for the package (not violently, just a couple little bumps) but it was enough to make me wonder what people are thinking.

Sucks... Basically is all there is to say... Shipping animals sucks. I hope that SYR can get it together and have a straight yes or no answer soon. I want to feel comfortable in shipping a live animal.

Not exactly true. Delta don't care if you ship any sort of animal, as long as the paperwork is in order, and the package is befitting the animal being shipped. I've shipped venomous through them, with it plainly marked venomous right on the crate.

I also (i guess technically breaking the rules here) put the Lacey Act info on the inner leaf of the box face up and bold as can be, then I seal the box. I put the common name of the Boa right on the bill of lading. "Sunglow" or "BC Imperitor" for a common, etc. And "Live Non Venomous Reptile" right on all four sides of the box. FedEx has yet to give me a problem for this.

Cool! I didn't know about delta. I will have to look into that. :) I have heard the name a couple times, but I wasn't sure how reliable they are.

Unless the plain crashes, it gets to the next delta hub, and you go get it. Fail safe, and with many species, the only way you're going to ship them.

the only problem with shipping via delta is that some of us dont have a delta airport near by. Im not even sure if delta goes to Memphis (1.5 hrs away) or Little Rock (2+ hrs away).

I guess its just one of the drawback to living in the country... Im about 40 mins away from my FedEx hub (where I drop off my packages)

Little Rock has one. I've shipped their via Delta.

I know it's a draw back for many people, a pain in the butt for others, but except for the inconvenience, it's the absolute safest shipping method for any animal.

it's about a 5-6 hour round trip for me to get to a Delta airport (down in lubbock is the closest one, next closest is Albq.)
Shipping overnight FedEx or UPS (for lizards since this happened, sigh) is fine, and if you pack right it's safe. Ya'll are making it sound like it's a death sentence to the animals...
