    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Should personal issues be drug into the BOI or any other forum for that matter?

Chuck.....I don't think of it that way at ALL. What you said simply added to the fact that his husbandry and even ability to care for his animals was definitely in question. I think people that he may try to buy animals from in the future deserve to know the things you posted.
 
Chuck, man I know that had to be some hard posting for you, heck I feel bad for you! It didn't annoy me, but it was quite disturbing to read, thats not your fault though!

If the two of you (Tere and Paul) had been strictly succinct, brief, spare and to the point someone would criticise you for not providing ENOUGH information?

Besides, it is risky to come out with information like this. It took courage and I, for one, think you did the right thing. I hope that if there be persons privy to information that could affect me adversely they would have the courage to speak up. The style in which they do it will have small relevance.

For myself, I prefer the holistic, if verbose, version. It better enables me to form a more accurate opinion. I appreciate that the writing "style" of some can be annoying. Heck, I have my druthers too. (As I just said...I think.)

I agree. I would rather have extra information than not enough....and though it was a LOT of information, I really think that in the long run it was all relevant. Insight into someone's true character, I guess. JMO.

I know how hard it was for Tere and Paul to come forward with this at all....especially with what a respected member Mike seemed to be. They put themselves on the line to try to protect others, and the animals. I think they deserve a lot of respect for that.

Complaining about the personal info I can kind of see, but you keep referencing how hard it was to find any relevent info. I found all the info in the first page (and maybe a brief follow up post on the second page). I think it went rather well, all things considered.
Better than if posted;................1. this person took credit for a lizard that wasn't his (relevent BOI issue). 2.This person fraudulently bidded on our animal. (relevent to BOI) 3. the person seems to have problems (at this time) feeding, cleaning, and properly caring for his animals(relevent BOI isssue) 4. This person "used" fellow hobbyists and did some bad things (relevent BOI info-IMO). Then there would have been 300 pages of posts asking questions, and the OP addressing the same questions.

It has come to attention that maybe some of you are upset thinking that WE informed the herp community that Mike is gay.

And just for future reference, I WOULD NEVER have said anything about Mike being gay if he hadn't already done that. I also don't think that anyone who criticizes me for saying something about Mike being gay even knows Mike. Mike is a very proud gay man. He has no problems informing people that he's gay.
 
John, I know it was mostly releveant, I was more wanting the order to be different, liek I said, Im sick and having a hard time reading that much, still haven't been able to read it all.

There was 1 sentence that bothered me and I have already talked to Paul about it and its not a big deal at all. I took it in a weird way and thats my "personaL' issue.

So all in all, it ended the way it should have, I just didn't see at first what all the personal stuff had to do with the issue which I foudn out later was a fake auciton bid.

Tere and Paul were trying to tell it in the order it happened instead of what happened (the auction bid) and then what went on before that.

I have no problem with either of them, just had a hard time getting to the "whole 10 yards" so to say.
 
Thats cool Tere, I already knew he was but had not read that thread. It just upset me to see that posted on the BOI as it is not a revelant issue to the auction etc.

And I don't care and I hope no one else does. I do remember the person who told me just didn't remember that it was from a thread on fauna.

I expressed my thoughts to Tere in a PM a little while ago, and after thinking about it a little bit I decided that I should probably share my thoughts here. Rather than retype everything (I'm being lazy ;)), I'll just quote my PM to her:

If you had limited things to the Reptibid scam, people might not have been as quick to believe you because no one would have understood why he would do something like that. Granted, it was a lot to wade through, and my first thought on reading it was, "why are they posting all of this personal garbage?" However, once I got through it all I realized that the story really wouldn't have made sense without all of the background. Also, the background info was important because he has obviously been trying to manipulate and "use" different members of the herp community. At least now you've broken that cycle. Now he won't be able to go from person to person all the while lying, using, and stealing from one person after another. You guys did the entire community a favor for exposing him for the type of person that he is. Also, it's entirely possible that this all might serve as a "wake up call" for Mike, and he'll get the professional help that he needs. The guy obviously has some serious problems.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I think that your guys efforts and sacrifices were worthwhile, and definitely not made in vain. Just don't let the "chronic criticizers" of this site get to you. ;) :)

Actually, this thread could be about anyone. The question posed is "should personal issues be drug into the BOI or any other forum for that matter". Just because Mike had a thread going on at the same time, does not mean that this thread was started about him.

Assumptions can be dangerous especially with the changes taking place now. I still agree that any personal issues that would add validity to a history of character and integrity should be aloud when it shows a pattern of lies and or inconsistency.
 
I did start this Partially because of the issue with Mike but it was more because I see personal issues on the BOI and a lot of other threads too that I do not feel belong.

Im not talking about the personal info we share about ourselves but the personal ifon that others use to attack us.

The info on Mike was not a use of personal info as an attack, it was use of personal info to get to the root of the cause of the auction bidding and to show a history of how things happened between, Mike, Tere and Paul.

But there are a lot of personal attacks throuighout the BOI and other threads that really do not belong!
 
and if I could type it would help but Im not going to fix the ypos, only one contact in so I think I did ok lol
