• Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Signature releases

After my fiasco with UPS over a month ago, I have little faith in the shippers (meaning UPS, etc), signature or not. For those who don't know what happened, here's the thread. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70643&page=1&pp=20

I live in a 3rd floor apartment, so the chances of them doing a ring and run is very real. I post a HUGE note on the door asking them to be sure to ring the door because I MUST HAVE the package that morning. In fact, the one time I didn't do it was the time they F-ed up.

I think the signatures are a joke. I really don't think they care who signs, so long as they're breathing and can make a mark. My package was delivered to the wrong place and signed for by someone who was OBVIOUSLY not me...and the driver still had the balls to insist he did his job correctly. It makes the whole "signature required" pointless. The whole thing makes me so mad when I think of it. And they never refunded my shipping costs either because they choose to believe the driver rather than the dozen phone calls between me and a service rep who recorded what happened.

OK...now that I'm totally infuriated, I'm going to go play with my beautiful healthy geckos (no thanks to UPS) and calm down!

Well kinda late for my two cents but, that customer of Rich's missed TWO delivery attempts, and then still tried to pass the blame. I would not have replaced those animals. As Kathy mentioned, I make sure I am available at all moments, until the package arrives, even if it means no trip to the bathroom, on a package that was hours late.
As for signing, I've had drivers who did the ring doorbell and drop package ploy, on a couple of occassions, where there was a signature requested. I am always waiting so I get to the door almost immediatly, but the driver is still half way down the block. I wonder if they are "forging" my permision to leave these packages.

I think it must be a common practice as it happens to me all the time!
