• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Inquiry Siren Exotics in San Jose, CA - aka SirenSanJose - RI Snake

I'm not going to claim to be an expert because as I stated in my BOI thread, the snake I got from them is the only snake I have ever had with an RI...but isn't it the case that sometimes RI's will show up in a couple days-week, and sometimes they lay dormant for weeks or months and suddenly show up from stress?

I do not yet have enough evidence to make the connection you seem to believe in here.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm paranoid, I just tend not to believe in coincidences :p.

I understand where you're coming from, and sure, it is completely possible that the RI randomly popped up only after being in the OP's care. But again, just seems way too coincidental for me.

...and is still battling this infection, indicating to me that this is a pretty serious one.

Nikolas are you helping or simply trying to pick this apart?

I never said anything about its RI not being serious. I consider all illnesses serious. I am helping to be impartial. If you take issue with examining what is known versus what has been concluded without support, I have concerns about that thought process.

I think he is asking good questions. I am sorry your snake is ill, but at this point, it would be hard to say it is the fault of this vendor.

I appreciate your concerns. Thank you for taking time to post.

Come again?
It is a logical fallacy, like saying that because the sun comes up every day when you wake up, your awakening is causing the sun to come up.
Because two snakes both have a similar illness, it does not follow that it is proof that a certain prior even such as originating from the same vendor was the cause.
It doesn't rule it out, but it isn't proof.
It is perfectly OK to mention the vendor, but there could have been intervening events that caused this, and I for one think there should be more to go on than what has been presented so far.

Thank you.

I believe you missed the part where this breeder is closing it's doors.
Nope, I didn't. That announcement came on 7/21, less than a month ago, with the vendor stating at that time all of their animals were going on the market. If they do in fact have something nasty in their collection and those critters have been shipped to new owners over the last 2-3 weeks then those purchasers need to be aware.

Personally I QT for 90 days offsite because I'm paranoid, but not everyone has that option and the best they can do is another part of the house or different room from their main collection.

Jennifer,
What type of enclosure do you have Duke in? What type of substrate? Is the substrate kept dry or moist? What are the temps (warm/cool sides) and humidity?

....
