In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Purchased from their website what I thought was a juvenile red tegu, called to confirm before placing the order and was reassured it was a juvenile and not a hatchling. Tegu comes in today and sure enough it's a hatchling. I paid what was a fair price for a juvenile, but is way more than what a hatchling is worth. I would not have purchased if I would have known. Attaching pictures of what was sent vs picture on their site. Their unsatisfactory response was that it's a generic picture.

I did not, they said they only had these three of these so I called to confirm that they were juveniles like the one in the picture and not hatchlings and placed my order.

Was this the wording of the ad when you saw it?
"They are well started babies"

Yes that was the wording, the animal in the picture is still a baby, just several months old. Not a hatchling. What was shipped is definitely a hatchling.

They have another listing where the picture is clearly hatchling Argentine reds, with both listings and different pictures they looked to have both. I feel like if they were selling newly hatched tegus, thats what they should have shown in their advertising, especially since I called to confirm with them before hand that what was in the picture was what was being sold.

Not unlikely that more than one person would look up the ad after learning that this was a verbal arrangement at issue. Unfortunately, what was said on the phone isn't verifiable (not calling anyone dishonest, just saying that transactions need to be in writing).

I don't know anything about tegus, but when it comes to snakes, a hatchling has just hatched. A well started baby is a couple weeks old and has taken maybe 3 or 4 meals. Are these terms 'hatchling' and 'baby' well-defined in tegu circles, or are they open to dispute? How old is a hatchling when it becomes a baby, and how old to be called a juvenile?

Other listing

I would have understood if i would have ordered this item and received a hatchling as that is what was pictured but I ordered the Chacoan Red.

It could just be me,but when I order something you have advertised I expect what you list in your pictures to be representative of what is being bought. I am relatively new to this so I am still learning what the age differences are. I just know that it's not what was in the picture and is the same size as the red hatchling I got from Ty park last year who was only a week old at shopping. It may just be me being overly sensitive but I think they should have had a picture depicting very young tegus and not a several month old baby.

He's already here and they're a retailer so they probably won't offer any resolution at all. I would just hope that in their future as they more accurately depict what the customer is getting. I will probably sell this one and continue looking for a larger red.

In their terms, they state that most pictures only illustrate the species of animal being sold, and that those pictures might not even be of animals they have ever possessed.

In addition to what John just posted, there are customer reviews from 2018, 2017 & 2015 in that tegu ad.
That picture has probably been on their site since at least 2015 if I had to guess. Many websites use "generic" pictures, this is very common.

If pictures are specific to a specific animal, you often see ID numbers matching the corresponding animals.

Nice plug, lol. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you go back to Ty for another Tegu?
