    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rick sladick at snakes4u.com sold me a albino male ball covered in mites and ticks and told me he put good bugs on snake to keep bad ones off costing the:censored:Out of me
 
You aren't required to post emails, but it definitley helps your case. Do you have any? What about a run down of the transaction, pictures of the snake, vet reports? And you should to inform him of this thread so he can come and explain his side as well.
 
I take him back to vet Monday and I will post after I'm actually at work right now but as far as emails go I didn't send him an email I called hi
And told him when I received snake and I really didn't know what mites were I did tell him that he had bugs all over and what looked like ticks and he told be he put good bugs on him I went to vet right after and waited abot 5 hours the vet gave shot of ivermectin and told me to put vaseline on him

I've never heard of that. :ack2: :eek: WHAT are "good" bugs on snakes???
Is that even POSSIBLE?
Sounds like a bad person to do business with.
 
Vasaline shouldnt be put on a reptile at all. It's actually going to make the snake prone to injury by softening his scales, causing them to flake. I would get that off
Of him ASAP. Oil based products shouldn't be used on reptiles on a large basis in general. Just a tip so that you dont have more issues.

Any pictures? Vet report, emails of transaction? Try and go through a rundown of the transaction or anything you have on it.

I've heard of folks using Hypoaspis mite in cages. They are a predator mite that eats other mites. But they live in the substrate and not on the snake from what I understand. Meanwhile. Why was this snake even sold with mites at all? I am doubtful that was disclosed. Was it??

Nope I was told he was healthy nothing wrong with him but these things are so bad they fall off of him and get on me while holding him he sticks his head under water an blows bubbles his nostrils were black on inside now there getting pink I did not put vaseline on him because another vet said not too so I didn't I was giving him a bath every day but was told not too so I clean his cage 3 times a day
 
I'd get a can of Provent-A-Mite fast as you can if there that bad that stuff works fast. It lasts up to 2 to 3 weeks with each treatment.

I purchase live hypoaspis miles for use in my snake rooms to PREVENT the establishment of snake mites. Hypoaspis miles are NOT harmful to snakes. I personally inspected the albino ball prior to packaging/shipping and it did NOT have any snake mites/ticks on him!!!

This is really strange and you need to tell your customers ahead of time. I personally wouldn't buy anything from you if there are bugs.

That is why pics where suggested. As far as I am aware (and I could be wrong)..mite predators do not live on the snakes themselves.

Ok i have read through this and as for good mites....that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard in over 16 years of keeping reptiles and friends that's saying something. There is no reason or excuse for it. He as long as it's proven deserves a refund immediately. There is no reason for a health reptile to have bugs NONE. As for getting them off as long as the snake is of reasonable age you can put him in the bath with just a touch of Dawn soap and that will help the might come of much faster and is safe for the snake. Sorry to hear what happened and i hope the seller give you a refund.

To some, it isn't saying as much as you think. The use of predatory mites has been shown to be a safe and natural way to control mite infestation with both reptiles and amphibians. As for it being the dumbest thing you have ever heard, some might think the same thing about using toxic chemicals around their reptiles for the same purposes. I have never used predatory mites but did consider it when I kept dart frogs. I just hope I never let my experience cause my arrogance to get the best of me.

That said, pics would be nice. I am not sure how the predatory mites would be on the snake, especially after shipping.
 
Well i think more to my point was that there should be no reason to bring ANY KIND of bugs PERIOD if your collection is clean. If you have such a problem with mites that you bring in another form of bug there is more of a problem then just the mites themselves. There is no reasonable purpose to do that and even less so to send a snake to someone that you KNOW is covered with bugs period no reason at all!
