    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I agree with you. That was my original thought - why would predatory mites need to be brought in to a clean collection? And if you are using them as a natural alternative to rid your collection of bugs, shouldn't your collection be closed until you get the infestation resolved?
 
One would think soo :). I'm sorry but if i got something in or sent something out and there was ANYTHING crawling all over it i would be very pi$$ed off!

I agree! Snakes with bugs should never be sold until the problem has been cleared up! But I have to say that I have never heard of using "good" mites to kill bad mites.
 
I've used pillbugs in a natural vivarium with live plants to help keep the flora healthy. They don't bother or get on snakes and they eat all of the decomposing plant material and other nasty things. Hypoaspsis mites, however, are insect eaters ... they are harmless to reptiles but feed off of even smaller insects and larvae, so in a terrarium WITHOUT other insects, they will die. There's no reason to have them in a tank unless you are fighting an active mite infestation, in which case there are other much more reliable means of mite eradication.

Please correct me if I am wrong. My knowledge is limited to what I researched a while back when I was looking to add beneficial insects to a live plant tank.
 
No you are 199% correct. I've looked into and researched Hypoaspis bc while I've never had a bug problem. I do have a large collection and with out Hypoaspis it would be a lengthy process. Thank God I do one hell of a qt. Anyways. Hypoaspis live and breed in about 1/2 inch of substrate. They thrive off of other mites and while they may crawl on the animal having an all you can eat buffet, they do not stay on the animal. Also if things were that severe the seller should have closed sales down. After the bad mites are gone the good mites will eat each other and slowly die off. If there were any bugs at all sales should have been stopped. Period. The fact that there's mites actually on the animal and I think all the black stuff is mite poop or dried blood shows that these aren't Hypoaspis. Still a picture or a receipt from the vet confirming reptile mites would be helpful.

I can't see any bugs??? Mites must be really tiny? Just as a side note, what a beautiful snake. I'm glad you are getting him doctored up.
 
I'm trying to upload the vet records he is in alot better shape now I just got home from vet and I actually thout almost all bugs was gone but at the vet they were crawling out of his scales bad while at office something about vapor in office makes them come out bad but he is getting better I gonna put more pics as soon as they upload I appreciate the concern and support thanks
 
I have to take him back to vet in 2weeks for another treatment for enternal parasites so far he had a shot and this time the vet put tube in and put it in his belly so hopefully he will be ok a guy that has been alot of help made me feel better by saying I prolly done the snake a favor by buying him and he's right just wasn't expecting a infested and smelly snake the odor he had was terrible now he doesn't stink and is getting healthy
 
So, what if anything have you asked the seller to do to fix this? You're invested a lot of time and money in the snake so I'm guessing you don't want to return him for a refund. And yes, you are God's gift to that snake. He is lucky you bought him.
 
I asked him to reimburse vet bills or if not willing to do that atleast pay half he said he would refund only what I paid him for snake which means I'm out of alot of money and time if I returned him which would be good for him but not for me I'd be at big loss and he would gain
