    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Last year, a teacher at my son's school purchased a pet store iguana as a classroom pet. I was asked to care for it over the summer, which I gladly did, but then they refused to take him back when school began in the fall. So I am still in the possession of an iguana I would never have chosen to own. Fine, whatever. I care for him the way he should be cared for anyway.

Now, over my strenuous objections, the :censored: school is once again making plans to get more animals for the classrooms! WTF!

I lobbied for such alternatives as bluebird boxes and bird and bat houses (there's a protected marsh next to the school) but they just decided to do those things ALSO.

I really hate people sometimes. :angry:

Have you considered showing up at the next school board meeting with the iguana? Might get them to atleast put some serious thought into whether they should be spending money on more animals that will likely be dumped onto another kids family when the school year ends.

:iagree::iagree:

This tactic will also make the Principal aware that money is being wasted, and parents are being imposed upon.:reddevil:

Hey, what a great idea!

It's a very small private school so everyone knows the scoop with the iguana anyways. The school put out an e-mail last fall, trying to get a different family to take him when I expressed my displeasure with the situation (which, incidentally, they tried to present as a "gift" :rolleyes:). I insisted on them adding to their message a link to an excellent care site, along with my own thorough description of care requirements, how big iguanas get, and how important it is to handle them regularly to keep them tame. Naturally, no one stepped forward to take him.

Even though they all know about it, maybe seeing this iggy in person at a meeting would be a more meaningful reminder of the importance of responsibility than all of my protests!

Honestly, if I really wanted the higher maintenance level that lizards require, I'd get back into uromastyx. Heck, maybe I will anyway. What's a few more daily salads when I'm already making one? :rolleyes:

Joe, I can't sell this ig. He came to me with mild MBD and deformed toes because the teacher a) didn't know he needed to eat anything other than kale and b) didn't know he needed his nails kept trimmed.

I listed him for adoption here on Fauna a while ago without success. I also listed him as a free adoption on the local CraigsList and got plenty of questionable replies, but none from knowledgeable, non-impulse people. I didn't want to be responsible for some idiot taking him and then dumping him after a month or two, so here's still here.

I may try listing him for adoption here again as the weather warms up this spring.
