    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

suddenly sick leo--help!

lol...ok, I just responded to a post in the thread that was deleted....apologies if my last post makes no sense. (I think Fauna wants me to start paying for editing privelages)

I think hemocculture is only used for fecal specimen evaluations - at least in humans...I think they use different testing methodologies for reptiles - Didn't look like there was blood in the regurgitation, but the naked eye can't tell...did you notice anything weird?

(Apologies to Emily for the loss of such a beautiful, home-raised leo...I hope you don't think we're belittling your terrible loss in any way, I'm just interested in what Yvonne and you have to say for educational purposes)
you're right. There is a different hemoccult testing for specimens like emesis, and it does work. You shouldn't use the BM test kit on the emesis, but I have done it in a pinch. Remember that partially digested blood is brown in colour, it won't look like blood. You'll digest your own blood if you bleed up high enough...

i may be able to get a testing kit. i'll see what i can do about that. as far as noticing anything abnormal, i don' think so. there wasn't any liquid or anything else but what you see in the pic. i could cut it open and see if there is anything else inside...

i don't feel like you are belittling this at all! i want to figure out or at least get a better idea of what happened to my little guy. any questions and/or discussion that results in the process of doing that is MORE than welcome. :)

Were you able to find anything out today? I've been thinking about your little guy all day...I'm coming up with only the one thing, but it's only an effect...a sudden and catastrophic GI bleed. I mean, what else would cause the liver to go pale, and excess red blood cells to be found in his gut? The anemia you mentioned is a result of the RBC's in his gut, not the cause. It's like he first lost a lot of volume in his hepatic portal system from the excessive bleeding in his gut, making the liver go pale...It's the elusive CAUSE of this, that's what's killing me.
When a human has clotting problems, the first bleed is usually in the gut. This bleed is typically preceded by excessive bruising of the skin. Clotting needs vitamin K. Ignore the stuff I said earlier that it couldn't have been anything long term...you could have long term clotting problems and not know it until you can't stop the bleeding in your gut or out your nose. A long term vitamin K deficiency or a long term blood dyscrasia that affects the platelets or clotting factors could result in a large blood loss like this with few symptoms leading up to the bleed.

I wish I knew enough to be more helpful, but this is the best I can come up with ..

i've nothing new to report. i'm trying to get ahold of a test kit. i'll update you as soon as i have anything new to report. problems with clotting sound like a good possibility... i am starting to think we may never know for sure exactly what the cause was though. :/

i did untwist the regurg enough that i could see if there was anything inside of it hidden by the mealworms and there was nothing else there. just the mealworms and more of what you can see from the original pic.
