    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Suncoastreptiles.com Horrible!!!

Well since the box was shipped to you there HAS to have been a return addy on it. Can you post the Zip code of the town it came from?

Also, ms_Ramie22, if possible can you post the return zip code of your package as well? this might help a little in the clarification process.

Not an exact thing but its possible that this guy seems silly enough to have put his own return addy on there!
 
It is most assuredly not me that he is referring to. i have sent Mr. Rushton two PM's in the last twenty four hours requesting that he contact Webslave or simply post in the other thread where he slammed me mistakenly to address his mistake. Apparently he was much more interested in starting this thread than in correcting the libelous comments he made about me.

Before the accusations and assumptions go too far, the name attached to Sunshine State Reptiles is Bobby Harrelson. He reported his location as Sarasota, FL, but would not give a specific address (his given reason being that he operates out of his home). Now, I realize that none of that is not proof of anything, but it does merit some consideration. If you have a phone number for Mike/suncoastreptiles.com, I will be happy to compare it to that of Sunshine State Reptiles.

Well, I just did some looking - the site does bear an amazing similarity to both of the aforementioned (Ray & Sunshine State - which, by the way is no longer up & running).
Also, Sunshine State kept a private domain, meaning one couldn't get name/address/phone numbers/etc via whois...suncoastreptiles.com does not:

I did note that the address is not the same as the address from the box Ramie received... nor does the phone # match the one provided by Sunshine State.

I just wanted to say that a friend of mine received an order of 5 ball pythons shipped the exact same way from http://www.suncoastreptiles.com/. Two of the five ball pythons were not the ones she ordered.

I did recommend that she post here on the BOI, and it seems she will not be the only complaint about this company. I am going to send a link to this thread to her. I did tell her to take pictures of the shipment she received to back up her statement here on the BOI.

I really hope this is not linked to Rays Reptilia, as her getting the BPs she really wanted would be impossible.

John, you may want to have him (or do it yourself) contact one of the other "super mods" to see if this can get corrected, as Rich is pretty much MIA right now.

I have to admit, when I first looked at this thread, I thought he was talking about you. (In my head, I said, yeah right, no way) but it does create the wrong impression for those who may not know better and assume it IS you that he's talking about.

I spoke with Rich yesterday. He was very sympathetic and said that as long as Mr. Rushton requested that the post from the other thread be deleted, either by posting the request or Emailing Rich, he would remove it. Apparently this is of no concern to Mr. Rushton. He has ignored my attemts to contact him completely. At the moment, I don't think any more of him than the guy who shipped him the Boa.
 
The address the shipment was sent from is an apartment complex in Ft. Myers with over a hundred units. None of the unit owners has the last name Setter. There is also not a single Michael Setter in the state of Florida that has a land line in his name.

That would lead you to believe one of the following.

1.) This is a kid living with mommy and daddy

2.) This is a kid living with his girlfriend.

Either way it is really pissing me off that he picked a business name that is this close to mine. I have spent a lot of years building a solid reputation and crap like this is a slap in the face.
 
John - you left out option #3: that Michael Setter is a fictitious name.
You can pursue the name issue, also, since you have clearly been using the name longer & the similarity definitely could cause confusion and impact your business.

Cathy - just to clarify: the comments John is referring to were tacked into the Natures Coast thread. Unfortunately, despite the similarity in name, there is nothing that can be done about the title of this thread since that is the "business'" name.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I guess it was a Freudian slip since Sunshine State Reptiles is another one of ray's suspected alises that I've been keeping an eye out for. I'm sorry I don't have anything on topic to add, but I have seen this statement quite a few times on this board and it really irks me.

"I'm most likely way off base..but you almost have to be skeptical of anyone from florida without well known name."

Now I have lived In Florida all my life,I have never scammed,ripped off,or done someone dirty, ever. I plan on starting a small business of my own in the next year or so and good chances are it will be based in Florida. How can I possibly start off and get business with an unknow name(cause no one knows my name) with people saying stuff like this about Florida. Granted their may be some scumbags here but dont generalize and profile sellers just because they are stuck in this state. I just felt I had to say something as I have never heard anyone say anything about others in other states. When you start seeing me selling my boas I hope that someone isnt going to go well Mr. Andrew right there is from Florida, nice snakes but I cant trust people from Florida. Puhleeze!

I'm sure Cameroon is a lovely place with many fine, upstanding people too..but I sure don't plan on sending money to anyone there that doesn't come highly reccomended. But hey, what do I know.. :shrug01:

I am still dealing with Suncoast Reptiles (Mike Setter). I purchased 5 ball pythons from him at 25 each. Now, I chose those 5 from the pictures I saw on his website. We had arrange to have them shipped to me on 24th of July. I got nothing from him saying they had been shipped or anything...so I emailed him. Two days later I got an apology saying that he was overwhelmed with orders and would get to mine the following week. Like he said the ball pythons came the following week. They arrived at 1:30pm. The hottest part of the day. They were package in a small uninsulated box (I will have pictures later). The ball pythons were shoved into two socks, three in one and two in the other (also have pictures of socks). There was no padding in the box. The snakes were very hot to the touch when I got them out. Luckily they were all okay. Only two of them werent the snakes I ordered. I am still trying to work with him right now to get the deal finished. I am very displeased with his shipping methods...not to mentioned that I got overcharged for shipping since he probably got a flat rate on the box. I will keep everyone updated on the progress. I will post emails between the both of us and comparison pictures of the animals I ordered and the ones I got.

I believe it was stated earlier in this thread that shipping was through FedEx. It also stated he was using a standard FedEx Box. They are generally used for small items and documents and, I believe there is a "flat rate" up to a certain weight limit.

Needless to say, this is a pathetic way to ship a live reptile. No insulation and Standard Overnight as opposed to Priority. This idiot needs to have his ass soundly kicked out of the industry

unfortunately there are two types of people in this world. Those who believe people are generally honest and trustworthy and those who think people are generally crooks and scammers. The former look at the new guy and, if they can't find anything out about him through research, will assume he is honest and will do business with him. The latter look at the new guy and, if they can't find anything out about him through research, will assume he is a scammer and will not do business with him.

I suppose being suspicious is one way to keep from getting ripped off, but I prefer not to go through my entire life suspecting everyone I do not know of being a thief.

I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to what percentage of each there are but just know that there are people who will buy from the new guy as long as he doesn't have a bad track record. eventually your name and reputation will grow, and if you give no one a reason to not trust you you will sell animals. it just might take a bit more time.
