    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok, why would you want to deny people the ability to edit their profiles (regardless of whatever perceived level you dole out)? People change, information changes. If you are looking to cut down your workload, forcing people to contact you and ask you to change their info doesn't seem like a good way to lighten that load - you are just adding to the pile.

GUESTS cannot view the BOI... if you register (FREE) you can access and search and view the BOI... just can't post.

that's the way I read it.

BTW, I think that I tremendous about of thought and work has gone into creating something that is equitable, has the best chance of making this site grow stronger, and help out financially all at the same time. If I hadn't already contributed, I would be doing it again.

Okay, so nobody is twisting my arm, I could easily contribute more...

Yeah, that's one of the many points that I am still pondering over how best to handle it. I may have to change that one simply because there is no way to selectively choose some of the fields and options I would like to reserve for paying members. And to be honest, there may be some things I will have to change after the fact when I get feedback from how it impacts some people. I'm trying the best I can to get a good balance of options, but I'm sure there are going to be some rough spots ahead.
 
Ok I'll put this one out there. If i pony up and pay $250.00 can I have the pleasure of unlimited use of the "F" word? That or dish out points like a MOFO..... :D :hot: :dgrin: :uzi:

Well, THAT wasn't supposed to happen! The new icon was supposed to replace the old one for Contributors.

What you are talking about is an upgrade from a current level. Well, I don't know. Personally I doubt that the system can handle this automatically as it stands right now. Without taking a lot of time going over the details that the system would have to be able to do to accomodate this, I think it is doubtful without some custom programming thrown in there. The problem here is that it could easily be a case of diminishing returns for the effort (and cost) it would take to implement it.

I guess I could sidestep it easily NOW, but simply lowering the price accordingly to the two higher levels for present Contributors, but let's wait and see what happens through the weekend when I try to pull all of this together, shall we? It may be a non-issue after the dust has settled.
 
guess not then

if i had the 25$ to become a contributing member i'd do it in a heartbeat..although i probably could come up with it somehow..
 
if we contribute can we elect to not have one of those big contributoir icons winking by our names... i mean its nice to know but thats big i would rather contribute and have the option of an icon or not

Anyone is welcome to just use the "Make a donation" button down in the lower right hand corner of the screen. If you use the paid subscription plans, everything happens automatically and you get the icon whether you like it or not. The ONLY reason I would even attempt something like this now is exactly because it CAN be automated.
 
In the "member" category.... a person has several options, among them these:

+ Cannot edit profile
- Upload attachments (photos) limited to 1 meg
- Ability to give ONLY positive reputation points.

$10.00yr OR 500+ posts - status = "Participant"
all "+" bonus options included in level 2
+ Ability to view and post on the BOI

What I am having trouble with is the sentence that talks about the + options... perhaps the + in level "2" should be on "uploading attachments" and the - should be on cannot edit profile...that would make the "+" bonus options statement in the "participant" category make more sense.

Just a little nitpicky I know. :) :eek3:
 
There is one thing I'd like to have

and I'm sure I'm not alone. Please please find a way to put spell check on the BOI and maybe a preview your post option. We could all use this, some more than others.

Dunno about da spill chick, but there has always been a 'preview' option for posts prior to submitting them to show up on the forum. I have always seen two buttons at the bottom... "submit reply" and "preview post"

There already is a "preview your post option" when you click "Post Reply" instead of "Quick Reply".

As far as a spell checker, it would be nice if it was built into the forum, but you can also do that by simply installing one of these free spell checkers to your browser.

Uh Folks

I was sort of looking at this for those who really really have a hard time ie read some of the recent post on the BOI . Some are difficult to read because of the spelling etc. Just thought it would be nice and might help some of the folks who post if there were a spell check right there for them to use.Make the icon for it really really big so it can't be missed.

As for Preview I knew that :confused: see it every time I post DAAAAAAAAAAAa I must have been having a brain anterior expulsion of methane, also know as a brain fart which becomes more common in those over 40.

Ok, under "registered member" I see:
- access to view classified and post replies to ads, but not able to post new ads.

but I can NOT find the level where the ability to post new classified ads kicks in. I've read thru it a couple times now. What am I missing??

Yes, you are right. Left that one off. I made the correction in the listing or permissions. What I will do is to highlight any changes in red so they will be readily apparent from the original.
