In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Teresa Keene...HORRIBLE BUSINESS

Scott
the reason why i posted here was to get a phone # and to Let everyone know what kind of business he is running. I cannot make anyone believe me. I know from now on i should keep emails until the deal is complete. It is my fault for erasing them and I can admit that.

I tried to keep it between me and Mr. Keene, but they would not return my emails and when i emailed them a second time the mail was returned to me, saying that his email address was no longer available.

Frist of all, What is so "FISHY" about having hired help to do packing or any other aspect of business?
Interesting that your "business" is so large and profitable that you must hire help, and yet you are a relative unknown in the industry. I find it fascinating that someone can accomplish so much and still keep a low profile.

and Second UPS does allow shipping of "snakes"!!!
Yes, you are correct. They allow it so long as they have granted prior permission in writing.

And you are covered up to $1,000 dollars for damage or lost, unless you request for higher coverage which cost extra.
No such coverage is offered for live animals. This is specificaly spelled out in UPS's tariff as well as their Terms and Condistions of Service.

If the burm had been packed the way Mr. Habel is saying it was it would have been "Dead on Arrival" and he is saying it was ALIVE!!
Again, not true. Time and again, I have seen boids survive prolonged exposure to cold- some as long as three days.

We would have been happy do resolve this matter and refund his money if he had contacted us in a professional manner. But after all that he has said about us on this forum. He can just find someone else to buy the snake from him if he is so unhappy!!!
This is a rather telling statement concerning your customer service skills, or rather- lack thereof.

Does anyone else think this post sounds fishy? The more and more I read of what Barnaby says.... the less and less I believe him...
Scott, just as every coin has three sides, so to does every story. The absolute truth, I imagine, lies somewhere between the two extremes.

I think Mr. Habel stated when he came on the BOI that he didn't have a phone number for you, which is why Ritchie Luna ran a reverse search and offered one. Mr. Habel said the email didn't work, which the Keenes verified. I think that explains why MH didn't contact you immediately.

I'd still like to know if the 12/4 ad was updated from the 11/24 ad, or if the "soldouts" and "reduced" prices were also listed on the 11/24 ad.

Maybe the Keenes can post the emails and clear some things up from a communication standpoint. However, have the Keenes checked with the shipper and let them know the buyer claims there were no heat packs? Is it impossible that the person packing the animals made a mistake?

Barnaby, have you checked your recently deleted mail? I keep all emails regarding a transaction at least til theirs no problem.
As for the Keenes maybe you should stop replying here as it can't do any good. No matter what you say here to explain your side someone will come back and argue how your version is not true. Only the shipper and the reciever know how the snake was packaged. Everyone else is speculating when none of us know anything about it.
If i were in the Keenes shoes i would also not refund. If someone came here and said i sent them a mite infested snake and a half dead snake without waiting to hear back from me i to would not refund. If that's bad business in your mind oh well. Sometimes people actually believe the customer is always right that is far from the truth.
I this week shipped a pair of Cresteds and they arrived alive but weak. Apparently the heat pack didn't work. The buyer emailed me and let me know. I apologized and let him know how bad i felt. If they would've died i would immediately sent a refund the same way it was sent. He accpeted my appology and life will go on.
Like i said earlier none of us know the truth but 2 parties.
Barnaby will most likely never buy from them.
The keenes will most likely never sell to him.
There is nothing more to be said accept Live and Learn.

I'll just add my 2 cents in regarding the deleted emails.
If they were sent or received from his work email, they would be gone.
I know this because I used to make deals from work before I got laid off. Any copies of sent messages would be completely gone 3 days later. No way to recall them. The same goes for any messages you deleted. The sys purged my mailbox.
So he may be telling the truth about the emails being gone.

No problems with Teresa Keene

I answered the ad for double het. albino/labyrinth burms. Teresa told me she had a few but couldn't fill the full order. Later she contacted me again saying she had them available due to a buyer backing out. She and I did initially have some miscommunication on price and she honored the price she quoted me eventhough it was less than the original price. She even called and we had a lovely conversation about snake breeding, problem dealers, and all sorts of good stuff. She seems like a very nice woman.

I made it clear to her I expect exceptional shipping methods due to another disreputable dealer sending me an almost dead, overheated snake with two heat packs resting directly on the snake. She assured me she would isolate the heat packs as per my instructions. I recieved five very healthy vigorous baby burms and they have been voracious eaters since. Her packing job was exceptional and her follow up to make sure they were alive and ok was complete.

I have absolutely no problem with Teresa Keene and would recommend her without limitation. She is not only professional, but a kind, friendly woman who seems nothing but reasonable.

~I was kinda wonderin'...

~...when we would hear from SOMEONE who had done business with this seller! Seems like it took quite awhile, though, and I'm still wonderin'....are there any more satisfied buyers out there? If this business is big enough that it needs to hire help, then there should be alot more customers out there with computers.

~And one other thing, I'm sorry, but when the seller made the statement about the shipping comapny being responsible for keeping the proper temps....WELLL. that, in itself, makes me tend to disbelieve anything more they would say in that regard. Seems to me, as the thread went on (and on and on) , the packing, the shipping, the communications and the business got better and better!?!

~ I feel that..umm.. Mr.Bond (Nope, won't go there! ) was guilty of one thing: Jumping the gun and posting very harsh words a little too quickly. Since the snake WAS alive, waiting a day or so longer just to give the seller time to get back to him, would not have hurt anything.

~Call me crazy, (and only with a smile:D ) but I don't believe I would want to put my business in either of these peoples' hands.

I think you must take into account that many people are not aware of this board let alone particular breeders/dealers. The internet is a huge place. While I understand your position; I just now registered on this forum so I was, too, unaware. Kingsnake has no means to warn buyers from the real frauds.

It is unfortunate that Kingsnake.com is irresponsible in not allowing feedback from buyers while allowing TRUE fraudulent dealers to continue to post ads and rip off people without any forum for those victimized to speak up directly. Ive complained to Kingsnake.com about fraudulent activity and their answer is they need a report from the FBI before they will investigate. NO THEY DONT. If they are presented with information that is reliable about fraud and do nothing, Kingsnake is just as much to blame. Not only is this blatent disregard for civil law, but sets Kingsnake.com up for several liability. To know and be informed and allowing it to continue based on profit is conspiracy to commit.

Don't touch that dial; you don't have to wait til July 4th for fireworks.

For those on Kingsnake.com who are legit and good people, like the Keenes, keep up the good work.

P.S. If anyone has any horror stories about Kingsnake.com and want to do something about it, let me know privately. Something is being done with your help.

~Gotcha, but when I think back to at least 5 people, with whom I did business, before I joined here...only to find out they were registered members on this site.

~Have you seen the number of registered people here? You mean, out of ALL of them, only you have done business with the Keenes...as "big" as their business is?

~As for Kingsnake...a mild interest a few years ago. I don't even bother with it now. Why should I when there are so many well run sites on the internet? And, now, even less interest since I saw the posting on the BOI about their new moderators.

Ewww! No Thanks

What turned you off about kingsnake? Ive purchased quite a few reptiles there and most are good people; its the con artists that ruin it. What sites do you suggest alternatively?

My other choices....

What sites do you suggest alternatively?

~Ok, some of these sites may not be as large or well populated as Kingsnake or BOI, but I figfure we all gotta start someplace. Some of them are just starting out others have been here for quite a while . The chat rooms are quiet but the info available is pretty good. The Reptiles Magazine just went into a new forum format...not bad.

Reptiles Magazine, Sites and forums

Bearded Dragons forum

Reptile Room

Yahoo/Pogona Group

Then of course, I have my own Yahoo club, though it is a little quiet now...
The Waving Dragon Club

This one continues to be my favorite for it's variety, forums, classifieds and the fact that I feel like I know everyone. I've (almost) always been treated with respect and consideration on the BOI.

Actually MR Bond--didnt jump to anything my only post here was I had had good luck with my business with the Keenes and was happy with my transactions.Mention about their business they have supply on a biweekly basis up to 30 Pet Stores in the Southeast with live animals. Jim Bond

oops...

~Mea culpa....I got you mixed up with the MR. Habel. Sorry. :erm:

~But It DOES pertain to the buyer. Some people panic a bit and act without thinking it through completely. I am sure we are all guilty of that at one time or another.

~ Now, as for myself, I need to pay more attention to who says what about whom and when. Old age setting in, I guess.
