In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Thank GOD I just let the dogs inside...

I took a break from washing gecko tubs in the basement to let the dogs out, grab a pop, and back the car out of the garage so that I could move some stuff out there. I had just turned the faucet back on in the basement when I started hearing what I thought was the puppy slamming his playpen up and down on the floor. All of the sudden, the sound increased to a rate that was way to fast for any dog to create. It sounded like there were 2,395 washing machines running upstairs and they were all off-kilter and dancing across the floor. I ran upstairs but stopped at the top because I had no idea what the heck was making this deafening noise. It sounded as if my house was being pelted by thousands of soup cans. Then I thought, "oh no... Hail."

Realizing that I had just backed my car out of the garage, I went and opened the garage door to see what the heck was going on. The noise was even louder than before. As soon as the garage door rose, I saw huge chunks of ice smashing against the driveway. I couldn't believe how fast it was coming down. The biggest hail I have ever seen in person was no larger than a pea. Some of this stuff was as big as a tennis ball.

I wanted in the worst way to jump in my car and pull it into the garage, but I knew that if this :censored: hit me in the head, it would have either knocked me out, or split my skull open. So I just watched helplessly as the hail came down, smashing the crap out of my car for what must have been a good five minutes.

I didn't even think to get the camera while it was still coming down, so this photo was taken about 20-30 minutes after it stopped. Anyway, I pulled my car into the garage to survey the damage. Every side and surface of it has pretty serious dents. That kinda sucks. But, it's just a car. I just can't believe what a close call it was--I had the dogs outside no less than five minutes before it started. They could've been killed if one of the big chunks hit them on the head.

Hail sucks. Welcome to Summer, I guess.

Glad the dogs were't outside. Sucks about the car though. Maybe now you can get a new windsheild. LOL

But the cracked windshield adds so much character when I go mudding! (you know where :yesnod: )

Wow Paul... glad you and the pups are ok.

I got caught out hiking in that kinda crap once and had to take shelter up under a big Spruce tree. It was pretty exciting!!

Thanks Sammy. That was one thing that crossed my mind while watching it all come down. We went from bitter-cold-winter to a sunny 75* in less than a week and a lot of people have been out walking and exercising at all hours of the day/night. I think it would have pretty much sucked to be out walking when this hit. There was no warning, either. No rain, no thunder, nothing. The pavement was bone dry until the ice started melting.

But yeah, I guess it was a little exciting. :duck01:

WOW Paul.......I guess you're having the same weird weather we are here.......just glad you and the doggies were inside at the time it hit!!!

We got stuck in a hail storm coming home from Sturgis a few years ago....on the Harley.....no shelter in sight, so we kept riding til we found shelter. Mind you, these weren't tennis ball sized, probably uh....brussel sprout sized?....but I have never experienced anything like it (and never cussed so much in a 5 mintue time span). We were covered in big purple welts....I couldn't brush my hair for days without cussing and saying OUCH about 50 times, lol.

Pfffttt... Probably not. You Californians must've traded your bad weather phenomena for earthquakes. :raspberry

Yeah, I actually turned on the TV the other night to see who all was affected. I heard there were TORNADOS in Iowa. My first thought was, "oh great, even less street signs now..."

What a horrible experience!!
Is the car insured?

Fortunately, yes. I called right at 8:30 yesterday morning and am already on the wait list to get it repaired. Apparently the hail damage was quite wide-spread.
