In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy The Exotic Egg

Have you ever shipped animals before? Or had anything picked up at your house?

That is not a free service, and THAT is what Kim is referring to.

Armen

Yes i have

getting the animals picked up at the SHIPPERS house....has 100% nothing to do with getting it held at Fedex

She already agree to GO OUT HERSELF and ship it on the day agreed (or not charge for having it picked up)....holding at the Fed Hub at the DELIVERY destination has nothing to do with that.

This is one of the more cut-and dried threads I have seen on the BOI. The solution is obvious, simple, and painless.

Refund the OP. 1000 views and counting.

Considering I tend to ship through my own Fed Ex Cert instead of SYR, I know all about holding delivery at the hub. It has nothing what so ever to do with the package getting picked up at the shippers location. The fact she already agreed to ship on a certain day, but wanted to change that simply because the person requested a simple BUTTON CLICK is insane.

Nothing about what had already been agreed upon would have changed...nothing about HOW/WHEN/OR COST of it leaving the shipper would have changed....and holding at the hub tends to be the safer and more preferred method for many people.

I am with Willow. Further, IMHO, SYR insurance is to cover the SELLER, not the buyer. If the animal winds up DOA to the buyer, there is NO excuse for the seller to to refund the purchase. Industry standard my butt. When I ship, and yes I have once or twice, I pay for the insurance as a protection for myself.

actually I am wrong....it tends to be CHEAPER to hold at the hub, than it is to deliver to someones door.

So cost might have changed....pardon me :p

If only we had a facepalm smiley...

Hello All,
My name is Armen. I go by Rhacoboy on this forum, and RhacsEtc on most others. I have been using fauna for several years, and the BOI is one of my favorite things about this forum.

I have known Kim for about 9 years. She has been vending at the Taylor, MI reptile show that I regularly attend, and she worked at a pet store that I used to frequent. She is one of the most honorable, honest breeders in this business, and I am disgusted by the accustations and alligations against her. Kim has BY FAR some of the best stock, and has been a reputable breeder who has had nothing but positive things said about her for several years, until this post.
None of that has any relevance. An honorable person doesn't engage in such a vindictive activity as holding someone's refund hostage. Based on her handling of this situation, she richly deserves any and all negative comments that she's received.

OP, it is funny how you can call someone childish, yet you have your mother calling her and threatening her? Go ahead, call your lawyer, in the meantime I hope Kim will be filing a police report due to the fact that she was threatened by your mother. Practice what you preach, OP. You calling her childish is very hypocritcal.
What your sycophantical tendencies have clearly blinded you to is this: Had your buddy not chosen to act like a petulant child, this thread wouldn't exist. Nor would she have received any so-called threats. It's funny how people suddenly turn into crybabies when they have no real leg to stand on. Assuming that the conversation even happened as your friend claims-which, considering her credibility is pretty much non-existent, is very questionable-there was no explicit threat of physical violence. Having to step away from your life to be dragged into court over $152 would be enough to make most people "sorry" to have put themselves in the situation where they had to hear her voice. In light of your friend's choice to withhold returning the buyer's money, a threat of legal action isn't even remotely unreasonable.

I rarely reply to these posts, but seeing one of the best of the best getting slandered on this forum calls for a response.
Not particularly relevant, but I always get a chuckle over people who can't even muster the smarts to differentiate between libel and slander. If you're going to make a habit of supporting the person who's clearly in the wrong, maybe you should just continue to abstain from posting here. We're known by the company we keep, after all.

I know that what everyone see's in this post is STRICTLY based on what the OP and Kim are posting in this thread, so I would like to go off of what has been posted.

First off, Kim states that A LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE REQUIRES SYR, and SYR insurance to be purchased. Without that, you will not get the live arrival guarantee. This seems to be an industry standard. When I ship, I use SYR. I ensure the package and in that case the live arrival guarantee stands. If the buyer waves the insurance, they then wave the live arrival guarantee. She told you "If I use ship your reptiles, they have insurance you can buy, its 2.50 for every 100, any of the others don't have it on reptiles." So if you, OP, had paid to use SYR, she would have guaranteed the live arrival with the SYR insurance.
Regardless of your laughable idea of what the "industry standard" is for Live Arrival Guarantees, that's yet another irrelevant spiel. Your buddy flaked-out and cancelled the order. Hence, nothing was ever shipped. All that's left is for her to stop being a vindictive child and just issue the refund. If she doesn't have the money-which is what I believe to be the case-she needs to admit to that and make arrangements to complete the refund. No more hiding behind her pitiful little display of righteous indignation, which I suspect is just to hide the fact that she's too proud to admit she simply doesn't have the money.
<Bunch more irrelevant and nonsensical drivel>
Nothing worth responding to.
I hope that the two of you can civily resolve this, and I hope that these posts do not ruin anyones opinion of Kim. There are DOZENS of people who can vouch for Kim, her animals, and her business practice. If you have been in this business for 10+ years, and you have NOTHING bad ever said about you, that goes to show that she has clearly been doing something right all these years.
And now there's at least one person who can vouch for just how unreasonable Kim can choose to be when it suits her. Again, whatever she may have done right in the past, does nothing to negate the fact that she's completely dropping the ball on this one. Any tarnish to her reputation is entirely self-inflicted.

Also, she has told you she is going to refund your money, and she has already refunded half. Your payment was sent in four different pieces, why is it unacceptable to be sent back in four different pieces?
If you really need to have it explained exactly why it's wrong for a 54 year-old woman to act like a spoiled preteen, I'm not going to waste any more time trying to explain it. Aside from acting out of a blatantly obvious desire to as petty as humanly possible, there's no reason to continue to drag this out. For someone who claims to want to be done with this particular buyer, she sure isn't acting like she wants to end this.

Just as an FYI..... SYR policy on live arrival guarantee... only stands... if the animal is DOA AFTER THE GUARANTEED ARRIVAL TIME. If it arrives 10:30 A.m. or earlier (or 12/2 depending where in the country you are) and the animal is dead... it is not INSURED.. it's only for late arrivals..

152.00 bucks for all this?? Really. The seller needs to refund that money NOW, plus an "apology %" imo. Sometimes you gain more bees with honey than vinegar....

OP, hope you get your funds back quickly and find a different animal that'll fit into your projects.

Yup, I was frustrated(thanks Armen), there's a lot here that's just not going to come cross, and she's not going to put anything on here that makes her look bad. I'm not going to post the whole letter I sent to her, her address and phone number is on it, and believe it or not I'm not like that. She wont tell you at the bottom of that letter I tell her I understand with her strange address, why she would be nervous about getting her animal and I will do what I can to making sure it gets to her.

I always said she was getting her money back, wouldn't have mattered if she put this on here or not, I'm not a thief.

Now, I would like all of you judges out there, to think what it would take for you to cancel an order, when you have money in hand.

She has her money, or will, it's been refunded. I believe, I'm done here.

That being said, I can't figure out where the seller refused to refund the remaining balance. The first time the seller even appeared in the thread was almost 20 posts in, and by that point she was already accused of keeping the money. Am I missing this part of the conversation? Correct me if I'm wrong, I just find that kind of confusing since this entire argument has been about the refund.

Agreed. She said she would be refunding you the FULL AMOUNT. So accusing her of keeping the money is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. And it sounds like that is your only issue with her at this point? She has agreed to refund the money, so where is your argument, OP?

Also, I would be interested to hear weather or not Kim plans to take legal action regarding the threats she received by OP's mother? IMO it is something that should be persued. Threats shouldn't be taken lightly these days.

Armen

Now, I would like all of you judges out there, to think what it would take for you to cancel an order, when you have money in hand.

It would take a ton more than what your buyer did...which from what they have shown, seemed pretty standard as far as conversations with sellers go. You can blank out evidence of things you feel are private to try and convince people of your side, if you feel the need to post any of it.

but at this point none of that even matters, and as long as you have refunded in full, you can be done =) Easy as that!

As far as the LAW goes....as a seller, when you cancel an order, you have to give a prompt refund. You DO NOT, by LAW, have the right to hold that refund for however long you feel like.

You think Target could get away with holding your refund because they just feel like it? Standards people...have them!

While Kim should issue a full refund immediately, its not too difficult to see why she became flustered with the buyer. I almost chalked the buyers inmature behavior up to being a youngster, especially after reading about having their mom call, however this doesn't seem to be the case since a full time job was mentioned.
Seems both parties need to grow up a bit, but in the meantime, a full refund is definitely warranted.

She refunded me 50 dollars, making a total of 200, not 302. And she left the note "N E V E R contact me again." I can screenshot if requested. I am still owed 102 dollars.

Screenshot of the 50 I was refunded, still missing 102.
