In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is disgusting

lepgex14,
You need to talk to your mommy and daddy right away and explain to them what you have been doing.I have no idea what your motivation is here, but you need some adult guidance ASAP.

hey i have new pics of my leos
to prove they gained weight
and i have pics of my cages
if u want to see them

i am posting them now it is 10<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>1 they should be up in like 5 or 10 min.

lepgex14,

I would like to offer some advice for you…and if you are serious about what your goal(s) are regarding the breeding and selling of Gecko's, the #1 rule is to do so honestly while also providing as high a quality animal as possible.

This can only be accomplished by providing a proper housing/environment, quality feed, attention to detail and overall good health of the animal(s) in which you wish to sell.

Wanting to appear experienced and actually being experienced are two different things…and unfortunately the pictures speak for themselves.

In addition, if you wish to attract and maintain a customer-base that is of any quality, you must also maintain a certain level of professionalism…and your website does not meet that simple criteria neither.

For those who are seeking to purchase such unique pets, you would be hard pressed to convey your level of breeding and husbandry experience with a site that employs gross slang and numerous spelling errors…in addition to poor looking animals.

I applaud any teen/young adult that enjoys and wishes to raise and breed any herp with the intention of providing quality stock for others to enjoy.

Sadly, it is those such as yourself that contribute to the following:

1. A highly disappointed (first-time) herp owner.

2. Transmission of disease/illnesses to other herp owners and previously healthy animals.

Everyone here started as a beginner, that is a fact…the difference being is those who took the time to learn, and made the commitment to provide adequate and proper care of their herps have seen the true gratification that doing so can provide.

It is the actions of such irresponsible owners such as yourself that casts a dark shadow on the whole ownership/hobby/business of herp enthusiasts. Yours is the type of operation that animal rights activists LOVE to parade around in the media as examples of why no one should own these types of animals.

If you are serious about your endeavor, take the time to learn about your preferred herp…everything from proper husbandry techniques to disease/illness control.

As of this posting, 1675 visitors to this forum have been witness to your shoddy reptile care and dishonesty, and 44 posts have NOT been favorable of your "experience" as a Gecko breeder or supplier.

Is this the type of breeder you wanted to be known as?

You have one of two paths you can follow. You can either cut your losses, and begin to correct your bad habits, or fade into the shadows as another bad apple in a growing trend of poor breeders/suppliers.

I would also like to add, ANY teen who gets bent out of shape when others offer help, constructive criticism, or even complaints are proof-positive that one is not prepared to face the reality of the level of commitment such endeavors require.

WOW !  <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>  I don't look through the BOI for a couple weeks [ things happen ya know] and look at what is going on here now.
First.. I read through [bALL[/b] them pages in the other thread.. then figured out it was locked down..arghh. Some of you guys really sounded like children for awhile there.. C'mon admit it..ya  did ANYWAYS...

WHERE Is this person actually located ?
What is the status of this issue right now ? Has this person accepted actual help from someone for these lizards at all as of yet ? I have noted the offer of help a multitude of times in these forums here...BUT has anyone really gotten through on such to a degree that there is a difference being made for those Leos at all yet ?
I do reptile rescue/rehab myself..fulltime it seems quite often. I also will extend any type of help needed for the Leos in order to get them healthy. Within the next two weeks I shall be traveling from Mass down through NC , and if this person lives anywhere along that route..or even close to it.. I would also "swing" by and offer help hands on with these Leos even. In the meantime, there are things that can be done in order to help the leos start to rehabilitate also. Heck I'll even bring my mic' and do parasitic checks on em even. I'll try a contact through email and see if that gets anywhere also with this person.

Fred..Aztec Reptiles.... I have to agree with what you said in relation to the Leos that some "established" breeders even keep/sell. I am constantly taking in Leos here in rescue/rehab that have been shipped by "established" breeders to places that sell reptiles. The Leos I take in.and I am sometimes there on delivery day even...make these ones this person has pics posted of look like they are majorly healthy.. Sorry to say BUT that is the reality of what goes on in our "hobby" quite often. After all.. What's a few "unhealthy" Leos within a shipment of lots of them ? Just take a look at the lizard rehab page on my site for some pic examples of what I am refering to here.

Ok I am off my rant now... Bottom line.. I am offering help for the sake of those Leos.. to whatever extent that I can...I'm off to send that email to this person now....AND if ya see this post.. contact me @
[email protected]

OH Here's the link to my page that shows just what condition Leos are in that I am refering to here...
LIZARD REHAB

Doesn't that make this person's Leos not look so bad off somehow ? Not saying that it is ok for them to be like they are at all either btw...

Lori,

I can't say I've kept up on every little detail but I think this reply will answer most or all of your issues:

1 - don't be surprised if you can't communicate with this kid well via email. Nothing against him personally, but his written communication skills are basically non-existent. LOTS of us have had a few emails back and forth with Randy and I know I'm not alone in scratching my head when I try to understand what is being communicated.

2 - If you want to get "involved" I think an email to MotherGecko might be in order, since they seem to have established the best rapor with Randy. They'd probably be best at coordinating the "volunteer" effort to help Randy and his herps.

3 - Good luck! I think ALL herpers owe you some gratitude for your efforts to educate Randy and help out his herps!

I have been in contact with Randy back and fourth quite a bit now.  If you go to this thread Help Link you will see what has transpired so far.  We have been going over his husbandry and am trying to get in contact with his parents to alert them of the seriousness of the situation.  Tomorrow I hope we can nail down a competent Vet to get some fecals exams done and get a real diagnosis on the animals.  It has been a tad difficult to convery the severity of the problems to Randy as he is 14 and just cant grasp whats happening.  He does seem sincere in bringing these animals back to health.  I think the best case senerio would be to have him relieved of the animals and have him start entirely over with a single healthy animal (after some time of proper researching), but this isn't likely to happen.  I won't personally take in his animals as I believe they are harboring parasites that I can't risk my colonies to be exposed to.  I have offered him my help in many ways and so have some other nice people, let's hope he takes it.

OK.. I went and looked at that thread you pointed out here. He did answer the email I sent him also BTW. I sent him back an email asking a lot of the questions you covered in those nine you asked of him. OOPS..
I also gave him a nutritional feed mix recipe for the Leos that I use on the Leos I get here in rescue/rehab.. Which usually works for them btw. I went even further and offered to send the ingredients to him if he doesn't have them or would have a problem obtaining them even.
Where is he located exactly in Florida ? I asked in my responding email also...If the issue of finding a vet doesn't work out ..depending where exactly he is located in Florida.. I may be able to go by and do the fecals myself on the Leos for him. I can not leave until at least next week though. I have got to make sure my collection is stable here first and also that the others that work with my rescues here know exactly what needs to be done for each and every one of them first ;}
How about I leave the housing part of the husbandry for you to handle with him and I'll tackle the nutritional aspect for him ? We can meet in the middle somewhere in relation to the possible parasitic issue ? I'll also jump onto that other thread from here in too...
Oh .. Has he told you how many leos/gecks exactly there are yet ?

This is just something I have noticed in this thread and all those that have transpired.

Alot of people seem to be almost condoning this kid's irresponsibility because of him being only 14.  I know that everyone is not like me, but at 14, I knew how to pick up a book and read.  I also knew how to fully accept help and suggestions with my animals when I was that age when it was pointed out I was doing something wrong(I am STILL that way now).  I also knew how to spell properly and type, but I won't go into that:\
I guess what I am saying is that by taking these animals in, and then by trying to sell them, he has stepped into the adult world of responsibility.  Although he appears to be taking and listening to advice at this point(finally), I feel that he is still being given the opportunity to further shirk his responsibility to these animals.  Let me explain why I think this.

For starters, everyone is out to help him and answer questions for the sake of his animals.  Very commendable.  However, he is not having to do any of the research and reading himself.  It is all being handed to him on a silver platter and a few people are bending over backwards to give it to him.  I do LOTS of research when I start with a new animal(I spent months reading up on leopards before I got any).  I just feel that he is not being forced to respect any of the information being given him since there is no work involved on his part to get it.  Although buying a book or reading caresheets online may not be that hard, I think there is an air of respect that is lost when people are falling over themselves to give him the information he has failed to find on his own.

And the thing that REALLY bugs me, although very thoughtful and of course in the best interest of his geckos, is that people are willing to send him free supplies and even come to his home to help him.  It is simple, if he cannot afford to properly care for his animals, he does not need them.  It is harsh, but true.  I hit a point in my life a couple years ago when I could not properly care for all of my animals and I got rid of almost everything except the two or three things I could still take care of.    It really hurt and sucked to do it, but it had to be done in the best interests of the animals.  So now, this kid is getting the message that, if he cannot properly care for his geckos, someone will come along and GIVE him what he needs to take care of them and he doesn't have to do anything for it.  Is that what we want to teach him about the world?  When you screw up, someone will come along and fix it and make it better, but you don't have to do anything YOURSELF to fix it?

Last thing and I will leave this alone.  If his living situation is such that his parents either will not or cannot give him money for animals and their necessities(or he can't earn it himself), then he doesn't need them.  I was at a show a few months ago and watched a woman come in ranting and raving and trying to get refunds because her daughter's snakes died while they were living in a shelter for a couple of months.  Did THEY need those animals at that point?!  Hell NO!  If his situation does not facilitate the proper maintenance of his geckos, he needs to part with them and start over when things are better for it.

Randy, I truly hope you don't think I or anyone else here is out to get you, but you have to realize the situation you have gotten yourself into here with your geckos.  If you think you are adult enough to try and make a business out of your hobby, then you should be able to be adult enough to realize when you have messed up, and be adult enough to realize you have to take responsibility for your own actions.

~ I make a point of monitoring all of my children's actions online equally as much as I do their actions anywhere else.  They are now 16 and 17.  They are not, by any means, perfect, but when they do screw up...I hold them accountable.

~Has anyone attempted to contact this young man's parents?  Perhaps they should be made aware of HIS actions!!

I have been following this thread from it's inception, and I have been trying to decide which direction I was leaning. "Is he irresponsible, or is he well meaning and trying hard?" I just saw his ad in the wanted section looking for Tokay Geckos, "to put in my father's 50 gallon vivarium, to get rid of the bugs". I just made up my mind.

Randy stop trying to aquire new animals and take care of the ones you have now.  Spend the money your wanting to get Tokays with and buy some books to read about proper reptile husbandry, reptile parasites, buy some real antimicrobal disinfectant,  anything but more animals right now.  By the way if your considering letting some Tokays go for pest control BAD IDEA!!!  You live in Florida my friend.  If a pair were to escape your house you could be introducing a serious invasive species to your area.  I know it doesnt mean much to you but you could severly alter the ecosystem with only 2 Tokays yep only 2.  I know a lot of people up north set tokays free but they have hard freezes there, WE DONT! so they can flourish well here unlike up north if they escape.  You need to be more responsible with these animals and DO MORE RESEARCH!  My door is always open to you Randy but not if my advise falls on deaf ears.   Michael Beberman

That was the first post I took note of when I got on these boards tonite even. I have to agree with you Mike in regards to the purchasing of any new animals also. Randy.. The last thing you need to do at this time is to obtain new reptiles to care for. You need to get a "grasp" on the ones that you already have first. Do as Mike has suggested and obtain materials that will not only help to educate yourself in the area of reptile keeping , BUT also help out with the current animals which you have. Also take the funds that you seem to have available for the tokays that you inquired about and get the supplies that the Leos you currently have need at this time.

This kid doesn't need the animals he has in my opinion, let alone getting more.  Read up on what you have now Randy.  Learn what you are doing there FIRST!  You have people here offering advice and to help you, but it looks like you are just taking their kindness and SMART advice and slapping them in the face with it.  That is very disrespectful and you REALLY need to spend a long time thinking about your priorities and what is in the best interest of the animals you already have to care for.
And just a side note, Tokays already have several established populations in parts of Florida, and I get calls every few months here in NW Georgia about people seeing big blue geckos in their buildings.  This is not being said to condone the further release of Tokays(there are already enough out there now), just stating that it is already happening:(

Randy,

No one has posted a thing on this thread about you since August. I am not sure what you are talking about and who is giving you trouble, but I can't see anywhere since August that anything has been said to you. If they were said to you in Private, then you address them in private and not back on here again.

Randy.... I realize you're young, but.... don't you think it's time your parents bought you your first copy of, "Hooked on Phonics"<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> Your writing skills are atrocious! If you want to be a professional, I would suggest you get with the program??? ....Neil
