In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy TIBOR PAPP DEAL BREAKER

A deal is not completed just because you said you mailed a check, payment must be received and check cleared to complete a deal.

Maybe the deal would have ended better if you would have express mailed(overnight) that check?

The deal was made twice. When we agreed on a price and payment terms which I held up my end of the deal and the 2nd time when the people he was selling to couldn't come up with the funds and he told me I had the litter. He got the check and still had the animals on 5-29-12 but said he could not ship them and was mailing my check back. When the deal was made he said regular mail was fine.
If you read the e-mails he was good with waiting on the check. He was also offered credit card payment or pay pal for deposit or full payment.

Lucille I should have continued my thought.

If you are an online seller you know what I am saying.for almost every ad you post you will get a number of buyers that will tell you they will send a check, pay you on friday or maybe pay you $50.00 every 2 weeks until the end of time. just by telling me you sent a check does not mean I will not sell something to a person standing in front of me with a hand full of cash.

Bottom line is most people that tell you they will send a check never do and if you are waiting for that check that was probably never sent your sales will amount to 0.

Ed, the seller asked for a check, and once mailed there was a deal.
I offered to pay-pal him the money or use them(pay-pal) for a deposit. He told me to send a check and that will be fine.

Ed, if you have agreed to accept a check, and the check was mailed, and then you make another agreement elsewhere, not only have you done something unethical, but you have also broken a contract/deal. Do you do that very often, Ed?

I can attest to TIBOR PAPP being an honorable and honest man after completing a rather large deal where I sent him payment and he delivered the group of Kimberly rock monitors just as he said he would.

That shows me his character and honesty.

We both agreed upon the check. He was offered other forms of payment credit card or paypal. He never stated that if some one comes up with cash or a better deal I am going to sell them on you. We made a deal stick to it!! He also got the check and still had the animals so no question weather payment was sent or not.

Let's see what his side of the story is, OK Ed?

So it's ok to ask for a check, customer mails it like you ask & then sell the item to someone else, only to tell your customer again that the deal is back on? Then return then check once you've gotten it?

The OP even said he looked the guy up & he had good feedback.

In this one instance he did not have good business dealings.

I have checked feed back and people that have done transactions with him before and everyone gave good reviews. This was not a 100.00 sale this was a good size transaction is why I did my checks before making a deal. I guess some people change?

Ed, if you have agreed to accept a check, and the check was mailed,

I would not hold anything with the promise of a check being sent unless the buyer sends me the tracking number on the overnighted letter with the check in it.then I would hold.

Dud you receive your check back?

That is up to you Ed, but if you asked for the check, contract law says you are breaking a deal. Good to know that about you though, Ed.

If the seller asked for me to overnight a check I would not have hesitated to do so. With the agreement and his reputation I didn't even give it a second thought when he said to just drop the check in the mail.

I can see that Tibor is reading the thread, I'd like to hear what he has to say.

so sorry Joe..selling online is tuff..when he low balled me..I looked else where to sell my own cb boas...thats really the bottom line...and had many interested parties..and some that wanted both...is it not my decision whom I sell to?..as long as I had not used their $$....I'm honest, I can sleep @ night.
really its not worthy of a boi thread.

Negotiations sometimes are started with lowball offers, Tibor. You were under no obligation to accept, but you did. And you specified a check would be good payment, your buyer relied on this and sent a check.

On the contrary, there may be prospective purchasers who might want to make a deal with someone who would honor his deal.

:iagree:

Guys Tibor is one of the most genuine people in the business. He is easily one of the best guys around and I have been doing business with him for years now.

I am the one who bought the boas and I made Tibor an offer on them before anyone else knew they were available. I had already purchased his other litter from him earlier in the year and had been in talks since then about the others he was going to have to offer.

I'm not saying his decision to shop the litter was the best idea after he and I had talked, but the bottom line is he had my money in his hand before any other checks arrived because he called me when it did arrive and told me of his dilemma, so I simply agreed to raise my offer to meet him in the middle because he expressed to me that he needed more money for them since he had this other offer on hand for part of the group I was buying. So, actually he still took less money overall, but since he and I already had a deal prior to this other offer he agreed to honor it and I agreed to raise my offer slightly to compensate him accordingly.

You also must understand that he is not the type of guy who has the hobby's best interests at heart so take it easy on him. He is a genuine guy and I am not saying that because I got his animals in the deal, I am saying that because he is a friend and I think many others that know him feel the same way. He may have made a poor choice in the way things were handled, but he like most of us is just trying to put food on his families plates as best as possible.

Hopefully, this helps clear the air with everything and we can leave this very private guy alone.

Thank You,
