In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Tony Cueto (Carolina Reptile and Exotic Animal Show)

speaking of Tony

Their was supposed to be a show in Oct. and the site was up providing all the information including the Hard Rock Hotel, etc. Well I called to make a reservation for myself and my wife at the discounted rate, and lo and behold, the hotel new nothing about any reptile show in Oct. Furthermore, none of the phone # s work. All of the phone #s were disconnected ! So I sent an email , and no reply was forthcoming. I finally went back to Kingsnake and their EVENTS section and now the Oct show no longer even has a site! So. whats up with Tony C ! Is it only the Orlando show that he sold off, or has he abandoned Florida alltogether? Not what I would call a good businessman.!

Jerry...I believe the show in Oct was suppose to be in Greenville SC...We were at the July 16th show in Columbia SC and it was not "as big as his 2 day show" as his site and ads state. I could state my opinion on what went wrong but I am not going to because they are just that my opinion.

As far as Tony's site and phone numbers not working, they were working on Sunday July17 but come Monday they were not. And as of today they still are not up.

thanks CATHY,

your opinion would probably provide some clue as to what is going on, but if you check the events section of Kingsnake, you will see listed on Oct 1 & 2 the Florida Intl Show for Tampa. I can assume its been cancelled considering that the hotel where the show was to be held "knows nothing about it"
Anyway thanks for the response. JERRY

There is a 2 day show next weekend in Spartanburg SC at the fairgrounds. Is that one on the calender? I don't use KS and refuse to even click on links there.

Jerry ...You are correct about the Tampa show... I should know better than to try and think before 8 in the morning :>poke2<:

Brett... The Spartanburg show has been listed on there for about 2 months now... It's strange that Tony only listed the July 16th show on there one week before that show...There is no charge to list it there as there is no charge to list it here either.

The Tampa show has become good over the decade or more since it started. I hope some promoter will pick it up, if Tony cannot run it anymore.

I beg to differ,

its the same website, and if you call the Hard Rock Hotel and attempt to make reservations at the reduced rates for the Fla. Reptile Show on the 1st and 2nd of Oct, they will tell you their is no show as far as they are concerned. No deal on the hotel rates either. Very confusing, but we have already made other plans to a more stable environment with phone #s that do work.

Differ away Jerry. I spoke with Alex Russell yesterday. He confoirmed that Tony has sold hime the Raleigh Show but to the best of his knowledge Tampa is still 100% on

I hope I am wrong !

but the only reason why I am suspicious about the show "going on" is that we are almost in Aug. the show is supposed to be in Oct, and their are no vendors signed up, no hotel hosting the show, and no advertisement sponsoring the show, so one can only assume, no show!

If I am mistaken about any of the above information, I would be glad, but so many of Tonys shows have been sold, its difficult to keep up with "who owns what". Thats unfortunate for the herp community.

All is well

I just got off the phone with Tony. The tampa Show is a definite go for October. He has switched webmasters and hosting which is the reason for the site being down and out of daye. An updated site with fresh contact info will be up tomorrow.

While Im happy it appears the Tampa show is back on, the new show trend is a bit worrysome to myself.

The Tampa show has been one of my favorite shows for years. Sadly over the last few years I have not been able to make my way down to it. However my good friend Justin from Shelby Reptiles makes it down every year. Sadly from the outside looking in, it appears to me the show has been getting slower and slower.

Now the hurricaines, 9-11 , and economy have not helped the situation. Not to mention the MILLIONS of shows in Florida now adays. As a guy who has to travel over 23 hours to vend at a Florida show, it saddens me to see the market so dilluted and down as it seem to be lately. Add to that the chaos of shows changeing dates and promoters and IMO its not a good sign.

I hope Im wrong, but as its been said allready its a little late to get on the ball now. Tonys shows are always greatly promoted but with the shortened time frame that could be difficult. I hope Im wrong.

The Tampa show has tons of potential. I notice that it is most packed when Tony has it when there are a couple of other events at the fairgrounds, especially the monster home and garden show, which usually coincides with an arts and crafts show. Kids, and some adults, hate going to the home and garden show, and the people usually end up at the reptile show.

The Tampa bay area population is huge and growing in net worth at a fantastic rate. Timing, weather, advertising, and luck must coordinate for this one.

Is the little pet store still there in Bellevue, Nebraska? I used to ride my bike there every Saturday in 1968 and 1969.

The only one left in Bellevue is a new place called Paradise Cove or something like that, and they opened within the last year. The owner of it bought out Bellevue Pet Center (the little yellow building off set from the No Frills Supermarket on Willshire). That MAY be the place your thinking of, as it was the longest running shop in Bellevue as far as Im aware......>So long story short,....NOPE.
