    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm looking to expand my collection and I'm torn as to what to get next. I figured I'd get peoples opinions on what I'm interested in and also give you my "Critera" as to what I'd like in a reptile @ this point. I know there's no "Perfect animal" but I'd like to get one that I'm sure I'll enjoy and I can properly take care of.

A "perfect" reptile for me would require no larger (or not MUCH [read+-1x1x1]) than a 4x2x2 cage. I would prefer to be able to house these animals together in the same cage. I'd prefer a dinural species that has a more than average to very activity level. I'd like a reptile that is not so flighty & not "un-handleable". I dont mind an attitude but I'd prefer it to be a workable situation. (I realize all animals are individuals and dispositions are highly-variable).

The ones I'm leaning towards now are Beardies, Ackies & Uros. (No order)

Any opinions on these three are GREATLY appreciated. I've researched them all endlessly and am completely torn.

Any OTHER suggestions that my requirements bring to mind would be also greatly appreciated!

I'd love to get a monitor or Tegu but as I'm in college I cant house them properly now :(, also due to my current living situation no snakes :(

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What about armadillo lizards?
They can be housed communally, are diurnal (make that out in plain sight ALL day), a pretty nice group could be kept in a 4x2 cage, and they are handleable. In a few months, you will be able to find babies at local petstores and online. They are also inexpensive and livebearers.

Here is a picture of a subadult one.

Ackies or beardies would be nice. Beardeds tend to be a lot more handleable. But ackies are something that not everyone has, and that makes them a little cooler.

There are also a bunch of other lizards that are not as populer, but will also work. Collard lizards are on of these that are fun to watch, and can be very colorful too.

I had a Collared lizard as a kid and it was alright. I think that the Armadillo lizards are pretty neat from what I've been able to read so they've def. moved up into my "Seriously Considering" list, possibly to the top. I like monitors and monitor attitudes which is why I considered the Ackies but I was able to check some out the other day in person, and maybe it was an off day or something but they really didn't seem to be very active. Perhaps they were poorly cared for.
