In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Nope, not old enough but I have my moments where I'm wise enough.

I thought you might appreciate the new appelation. I think that's the word I want.

Randy, my story has never changed -- if you go back and read every single post I have made, the timeline has been the same (except on the very first page where I got my dates mixed up and then fixed them once I looked at my vet receipts). How does my e-mail to Wyatt on the 29th contradict my story??? That was the day after the het arrived and she did feed that day -- was not showing any problems that I could tell at that exact specific time when I fed her. That was already stated way back in the beginning of this thread and has never varied. When I said she may have had symptoms prior to the 2nd, that was in reference to the 30th and the 1st. I don't go in my snake room every single day and pull out every single tub, pull out every single snake, and hold it to my ear to listen for wheezing. Also, Misty is not a new snake. I have had her since June 2006. Just because I post pictures of a snake doesn't mean it is a new addition. Please read the text that accompanies them. Also, the clown is doing fantastic, as are the spider and mojave and their mates. They all just ate on Saturday night and are sitting in their tubs, fat, happy, warm, and breathing just fine. I have been checking the clown daily since his mate got sick, purposely agitating him to get him to hiss so I can listen for wheezing. Nothing. My quarantine time frame depends on the animal, where I got it from, and how it is doing.

Wyatt, the het clown is indeed sick -- her name is Angie and she was seen by my 2nd vet, who prescribed the Cipro for her. I had to go pick up one pill of Cipro at Walgreens, then came back and he crushed it, put it into a solution, and drew it up into syringes. Receipt:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/RavaFlava/10122007VetReceipt.jpg

As for why she didn't regurge her food, none of the sick snakes did. Dizzy fed just a few days before showing symptoms, as did the het g-stripe. The only one that didn't was Lola, because she and her sister had gone off feed earlier in September for the winter.

In regard to getting cultures done, I attempted that on the het clown female when I brought her in. The 2nd vet could only get a very small amount when he we opened Angie's mouth, enough to look at on a slide, but not enough to do a culture on. He saw no bacteria on the slide -- which would make sense considering that my 3rd vet diagnosed this as a virus. The reason that the 2nd vet could not get very much mucous also made sense when my 3rd vet explained from the necropsy that the fluid was mostly outside the snake's lungs, not much inside. All of this has already been stated previously in this thread.

And just to verify that indeed a necropsy was done and that a biopsy and lab samples were sent out, here is the most recent vet receipt:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/RavaFlava/11302007VetReceipt.jpg

Will be going over there tomorrow to get copies of all results to share here.

Yes, my quarantine procedures suck. I am well aware of this now, thank you to about 25 of you for pointing this out repeatedly (the phrase "don't take this as an attack on you, Jen" doesn't really diffuse the main message). As previously stated (this seems to be a pattern here), I do what I can with what I have. I have lived in my fire station for 13 months now. This is not an old building, this is the second one the town used. The original is an ancient structure from the 40's downtown that is now the American Legion. This building was built only 10 years before I moved in, then 2 years ago they built a brand new huge one behind me to accomodate the growing department and vehicle fleet. My landlord owns Midtown Construction, and he completely renovated the living area in this building. I have energy-efficient everything, brand new fixtures for everything, brand new appliances, brand new doors, windows, etc. It looks like it was just built. It is nicer than 95% of the apartments I had looked at in Madison before living here, and is FAR nicer than my parents' home that was built in the 70's. I can show you pictures of my house if you really need it. The only fault is the temps in the laundry room/bathroom -- I don't know if the heating ducts just don't go in there, or maybe the heat can't really do its job because of the firesafe steel hallway next to it. Regardless, the door cannot be shut -- it will drop to single digit temps in there during the winter, regardless of how high I crank the space heater. I tried it last winter with one so I could close it almost completely off since I keep the cat litter boxes and my very loud washing machine/dryer in there, and it got so cold that the cat litter froze as did any water left in the bathtub. The space heater didn't do jack. My bedroom closet has my clothes in it and my husband's belongings are stored there since he isn't here. I can barely fit anything in there myself, let alone a quarantine rack. The closet in the snake room is stacked ceiling high with boxes and tubs of things we didn't unpack when we moved here because of lack of space. My daughter's closet is full of toys and extra bedding/mattresses for company. You all seem to think I'm lying when I say I don't have anywhere extra to create some major 6-month quaratine. I really don't. Am I suffering? Yep. But as previously stated, it was worth the trade when it comes to living somewhere safe and secure with my daughter while my husband is gone. It's nice being able to leave and go somewhere with her without worrying about being shot/mugged/raped/carjacked in the parking lot or having my car broken into or stolen. Because that was the type of neighborhoods I would have had to move into with the amount of BAH we get for housing.

Based on the above paragraph, I will take responsibility for this virus spreading. I still firmly believe that it came in with the het clown female, as it makes no sense whatsoever that Dizzy was here for 2 months prior yet had never been sick and never got anyone else sick. Yet the het shows up then all of a sudden she gets sick, as do the others a few weeks later. It makes more sense to me that Dizzy and Lola had weak immune systems and this virus attacked them so quickly and so harshly, that they didn't have the ability to fight it. The hets that are sick are stronger (for whatever reason), and the rest of my snakes in my collection must be very strong because they aren't sick. That seems far more feasible to me, my vet, and the techs at the clinic than some random virus laying dormant in my carpet or on a spray bottle or something for months and months, then exploding all coincidentally when the het arrives. BUT I don't have a way to prove it -- not without euthanizing the het clown and doing a necropsy on her to find out how long she's had this virus herself. So Wyatt, I apologize for laying all the blame on you, and will chalk this up to an "I effed up" incident, hope my animals continue to get better, and that's about it.

Now that wyatt is off the hook and Jen's animals hopefully get better.......

Does anyone else think that reading hot pink lettering SUCKS!!! My friggin eyeballs are killing me.

I don't think his off the hook. The information is here for others. I think it is important to point out problems on Jen’s end because if you don’t address them when they appear obvious we run the risk of ignoring them when it pertains to people we like and/or familiar with.

It is equally as important to note she isn’t the only one to claim sick animals. Jen might not be able exclude other possibilities but her case is here along with others that have posted problems. Wyatt has what, at least five open complaints on this forum alone? How he has handled them and continues to handle them is enough information for anyone to decide if they want to do business with him.

Come on Wyatt......

You make more trades than a Baseball card collector at a Sports memorabilia
Expo..........I'll bet your quarantine procedure is less than Jens....What really
gets me is how you are screwing the guy out of his snakes (Different thread) same ol' head......Go address that issue.......Awww he don't have time.....Got
to many RI's to tend too........(Whezzz...Gurgle....Spit)

hey jen i have a question and i posted this here so others can feel free to answer etc here..this is in regards to your vets treatment choices..if the vet states this is viral why in the world is he prescribing cipro..i know this has been done for a few years now in the herp world( i know one of my vets was recomending it back in 98)..but if truly a viral infection cipro will only basically mask the cure..yes your snake should get better but if this virus passes its way into your collection in the future it seems it would only be more resistant to any treatment..i also work in the medical feild and over the past few years we have had a tremdous issue with doctors prescribing antibiotics for viruses in the elderly..the virus goes away but later when they develop something as small as a wound or pneumonia they end up with MRSA(resistant staff)..this is also a problem with children these days...i am not saying your vet is wrong..cipro may be indeed the only thing that will stop it..just wanted to put that out there

You weren't here to win? I believe in one of your more recent last post titles you stated: "THE GAME IS OVER". Those were your words, not mine.

Its sad you took my question to mean that I was calling you a loser. It was merely a question, and you have answered it rather honestly and well. You are a loser.

If you hate to disappoint me then please, please bail on us the way your partner and wife did on you.

Take the parting gift of 53 warning points in 53 minutes as your reward. I'll even throw in a microwave oven that leaks if you'll just go gracefully.

David....IMO you are pushing the limit with that last post. Why don't all you guys just knock it off?!? If you don't have anything to contribute except insults take it to HELL or chat. This post is long enough and about some fairly important issues that IMO become trivialized by the insults just traded by David, Chuck and Wyatt and all of you stooping to each other's level.

You are wrong. Why/How? Its simple? Jen has accepted responsibility for the illness that has infected her collection. Whatever new information you are looking for about this illness no longer has anything to do with wyatt given she has clearly stated that does not hold him responsible. This is Jens problem now and not wyatt's. Any new information Jen has about this virus (that she has assumed full responsibility for) should be posted in an appropriate forum to discuss it. It is no longer BOI material unless she can prove that it came from wyatt.....in which she has stated she cannot do.

So as long as wyatt wishes to reply to his thread and revive his thread....then I'm just going to go ahead and feel free to reply however I'd like to without seeking your permission to do so. K?

And, David, stop being such an apologist.
