Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

underground reptiles no response

No they were the last row toward the rear of the building. If you remember where my end cap was the were straight ahaed on in the same row as I was but all the way against the wall. Below is a rough drawing of the floor plan and my tables and Undergrounds. Hope this helps and gives you the picture.

Underground Reptiles

Rian,

Spending time with your kids is one thing, sending sick and dying reptiles is another. One was underweight but is now looking better, after 12 days of seperation and daily soakings 3 to 4 times a day. One was dead after 11/2 days after receiving it. As far as you calling me back that never happened until 1/7/04. Like I said before, I called you on 12/31/03 to let you know 1 was underweight and 1 was very sick and was proabably not going to make it. You told me to e-mail you a picture which I did on 1/2/04 which was Monday. On 1/5/04 the second e-mail was sent and there was still no response. I called you on 1/6/04 at this point I did not receive any phone calls or e-mails. You said you had only one left and that you would hold it and ship it out on Wed. I asked you on the phone if it was fat and healthy and you said yes. After our conversation over the phone you finally e-mailed me, I guess it was just to cover yourself. Then on Wed. 1/7/04 you called me for the first time and told me the fat and healthy uro is too sick to ship. This is not about spending time with your family, I could understand not getting back to me in a few days but I can't understand selling sick and underweight animals. As far as advertising that I bought 10 uro's I only bought 9. So, if you don't know how many I bought you certainly would not know if they were sick. This is why you should check the orders you ship. As far as me being happy with the order, you shipped 6 of them out on 12/23/03 and I did not receive them until 12/26/03, which was 62 hours in a box. When they arrived 5 looked like they had good weight, but one was underweight and very thin. This is something you can see when 6 of them are together, there is no mistaking this. So this time I gave you the benefit of the dought and figured the thin one was from being in a box for 62 hours. That is when I ordered 3 more once I seen that the 5 were in good shape. The next order was on 12/26/03 and was shipped on 12/29/03 which was Monday. I received the three on Tuesday, one of the three was very light and non-responsive. I figured I would again give you the benefit of the dought and wait a day to see what happened. The next day I called you on 12/31/03 and told you that there is no way this uro was going to live. This is when you said to take a picture and e-mail it to you and you would take care of it. After our conversation I finally got the first reply from you on 1/6/04 saying you received the pictures of the dead uro which I already spoke to you over the phone about. So why you e-mailed me is not clear. I know your company did not shut down and I'm sure sales were made between the 31st of Dec. to the 6th of Jan. This was the first communication I had from you. I'm sure somebody was there selling reptiles at this time. So as you can see it was alot more than 2 days for a response. The next response from you was that the fat and healthy uro that you saved for me was too sick to ship. Why could it have possibly gone down hill in one day? This will be the last post I will make about this matter. I just hope you take the advise and before shipping out any reptiles you look them over. How would you like to receive reptiles that were in the shape that you sent me?

Well thats interesting, but nothing solid in my mind. Lets say that was the ball park I was thinking. Hmm, now I wonder if its the table I was thinking of, but that not really realivent to the subject anyways.

O well Im done with this thread. I have been "told" all the people have been taken care of, but it seems none will be willing to post about it. Kinda sucks for all of us, they come asking for help, and advice, then never post the results. So now we just have to assume whatever we wish one way or the other.

Hide Box Query - Underground Reptiles

I emailed Underground about buying some hide boxes. I could not find a way to order via their web site. I sent them an email query on January 3. As of today Jan 8 I have not received a reply. Heck - I emailed BARRS on New Years and got a reply that holiday day !!!!

I guess my order was too small for Underground to care about.

I would suggest they enable their web site to accept orders. It does not cost a lot of money to do so. That would make it easier to order. If not - please follow up on emails from people that want to buy from you.

This is not intended to be anything other than a post of my experience with them, and a good-hearted suggestion for how they may increase sales via their web site.

rian, what happened? You send me a long drawn out email about what a great guy you are and how you're willing to talk about anything on the phone but, when I write back and tell you that I don't want to talk but will read what you write here you disappear?

Come on back and tell us the history of those uromatix you've been selling and how much you really know about them. Or don't know as the case may be. Be honest here and you may, just may, save some shred of a decent reputation. Keep emailing people and not posting here and you can kiss it goodbye.

Would you guys who have had bad deals with rian please post here what if anything has been done to rectify the situations? I got another email from him this morning saying he had taken care of things but requested that it not be posted here. I can't think of a good reason for him asking that but, I can think of several bad ones.

Has he made any of you the promise that he makes a wonderful enemy? He has to me and I'm curious if it is just me or if it's part of his making it right to threaten his past customers.

rian, you could come here too and clear up all the questions all by your lonesome if you cared to. You write to me what a standup guy you are and that everyone will be taken care of but, you refuse to say how. Please tell us/me how.

As I have now requested several times, quit emailing me personally and bring it here where everyone can see what kind of person you really are. I suppose I could copy your emails but, for now I'll give you another chance to make it good here.

Which is exactly why I won't talk to him on the phone. "Sounds like" can't happen if he had cajones enough to post here.

I'd still like to hear from anyone who has supposedly had things made right by rian. Just how did he "make things right" with you? Or did he say your silence was part of the deal?

How can you not want it made public that you have corrected your errors? I can't make any sense out of that one.

No need to elaborate. Were all big boys here. Besides Im not takeing it too seriously. I have no personal issues with Rian or his business per say. I dont like the way he conducts himself, and I do honestly believe that speaks for itself. That being said Im not trying to get into a pissing match with him or anyone else.

Well I wouldnt call them threats, more vailed if anything. It was made well clear to me that I should no longer speak about his business (ooops) and if I should continue to do so we would likely meet up at some point.

To this my remarks were the same to him as they are to anyone. I am an open person, who travels alot across this great country. I have done, and MAY continue to do shows from the midwest to the east coast.

He has not "threatened me" but he has made his dislike for me and my statments clear.

I also find it rather fishy you would rather have people you have "taken care of" shut up then respond. I have told him numerous times I would happily eat my words if I am proven wrong. I think proveing me wrong would be far wiser a business descision then to try and intimidate people.

I am waiting on a refund from Rian?- for the one ornate uro, but one never knows. I will keep everybody up to date. As of our last conversation there was no problem and he said he will refund my money. Time will tell and I will keep everybody on the forum informed. As of now this was the only purchase I made from Underground Reptiles.

Me being taken care of is one thing and it hasn't happened yet, so lets not jump to any conclusions. This shouldn't have happened in the first place. I hope he learns to check the shipments he sends out. Sometimes people do make mistakes, but the thing is to learn and improve them so they don't happen, because when they do the outcome is severe and unchangeable.

PS - I see posts about Rian threatening people, I just want to state this is not the case with me. He has never threatened or use any foul language on the phone or in his e-mails. All our conversations have been civil. Let's see if he keeps his word and does the right thing.

Undergound Reptiles 2 Dead And 2 Sick

Hi,

Just got back from the vet. and she suggested that when it dies to refreigerate it and get an necrospy done on it. She said it was dehydrated and gave it fluid therapy. She thinks it is either a bacterial or viral infection, but there is no way for her to be sure until she does an necrospy. I just got off the phone with Rian,
I told him another one died and asked him where he got the uro's from and I did not get an answer from him. Out of the 9, 1 was dead in 1-1/2 days, the 2nd one died after 8 days, (after seeing a vet) 2 more are looking sick with the same symptoms. I know there is a major problem here with these uro's. These were advertised as CAPTIVE BRED. I talked to Rian and he told me he did not care and told me to post it. He also told me and e-mailed me that he could care less what folks may say. Also, he makes a real blessed living in his store and if he never sold another animal on the web he would still pay his bills and NOT MISS A DIME. This is a person that owns a business and just don't care what the outcome of the animals or conditions that the reptiles he ships are in. I would like to know if there is any recourse I can take. If any one knows or had similar problems with uro's dying like this after receiving them in such a short period of time, any advise would be appreciated. Maybe someone out there knows something about this condition in uro's and can send me some advise.
 
I'll be honest with you, all the "poor shaped" uros Ive ever recieved are all in one place at this time, the grave.

I personally have had little luck bringing sliding uros back from the edge. I would try your best to rehydrate the animals. From that point I guess a large portion depends on if they are eating.

If they are eating, I would get them well hydrated, and heated up as well as possible. Feed them as much as they can handle. I used to keep mine on bird seed at temps of well over 125 on the hot spot, and an ambient of 80 or higher. If you can get them feeding and holding down food and water, you can try to go after the ailment from there.

Maybe Rob, or a couple of more uro savey people can help you out more. Maybe try the uro forums, Doug Dix, or Lindsey Pike for further advice.

As for where the uros came from, I would assume one of the many importers in Florida. I know they have been on Zooilogicals list for months, likely the same animals. Sadly imports are great if you get them very fresh. However the longer they sit at ANY importers, the worse shape they seem to be. I know Ive had large lots of many species of animals, and often they thrive far better for a coustomer careing for an individual then for a person or staff of people careing for a large number of animals. Im not saying they dont get the care they need, its just a matter of numbers. You stick 10 chameleons in a cage, no matter how large, and they will show some effects (just an example).

Actually Mickey, Zoological Imports animals are some of the most well cared for around here. I go down at least once a month to check out new shipments that come in and every animal is well cared for. I even saw some Uro's there about two weeks ago and they were great looking. Plus, I know for a fact Underground doesnt use Zoological as their supplier. I hope his sick Uro does make it though, it really is a shame.
