In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy unhealthy / abused animal from LLL Reptile!!!

Sorry about your snake, if it is scarred i would bet it is a wild caught animal. LLL do not sell quality wild caught stock. I have bought 3 snakes from them, a mangrove snake which never ate on her own. A Rufous beaked snake that was skinny, malnourished & died within a week. I sent them pictures & told them i expected a replacement. They did replace it but that snake died after 5 weeks. I emailed them but got no reply. I have been keeping snakes 40 years & have had many wild caught animals from Africa but these were the worst i`ve ever seen. I have 2 other wild caught beaked snakes from other dealers & they eat like champs. LLL sells crap, at least their wild stock & i will never buy from them again. If your snake dies demand a replacement. All my correspondence was done via emails. Good luck.

No snake queen. I was saying Damn you're right to Fangthane about keeping the box. And yes I was being sarcastic about being smart because it was actually a stupid mistake that I made by throwing the box away. As I've said my responses are very delayed at the moment.

The snake was is transit to Alaska for 3 days in bad weather? Have you talked to LLL Reptile and tried to work something out before you start trashing them online? I am sure they will work with you to resolve this. Snakes that get frozen due to flight delays are not really the problem of the shipper. Some of the issues probably are from sending out a snake that was not in great condition to begin with, but why not try to resolve this with them before taking it public.

You may want to re-read the initial post.

Decided to post pictures of what I got from LLLReptile. I bought a baby green anaconda from them. What they sent me was an extremely sluggish and malnourished snake. It is severely under weight. It's skin is so bad that it can literally be pulled an inch or two away from the body. And no it's not in shed, even if it was it wouldn't look THIS bad! The snake barely moves, and never squeezes at all when being held. Also he is covered in cuts and scars, my guess is from unsupervised live feedings. I did my best with these pictures but it was with a crappy cell phone camera. I can take better pictures once I get home, but at this point I have no hope for this poor guy. I don't know what to do. Every phone conversation I've had whenever I called LLLreptile they gave me dumb answers, like make sure I'm using tap water ect. Ect.and me being the non-confrontational person that I am I just didn't do or say what I should have sooner, But things are no problem on my end because the anaconda was like this straight out of the box. I am completely shocked since LLL is such a well known reputable company in the reptile industry. I am beyond upset and I don't know what to do at this point. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Snakes that get frozen due to flight delays are not really the problem of the shipper.
Although not really applicable to this situation, are you saying that such a scenario should be the buyer's problem? If so, I think that's a very foolish statement.

Thank you englishaussie for your input and advice. I am led to believe that he was in fact wild caught given his appearance and the bad state he is in. I can only hope that with my loving care he will eventually thrive and turn out okay. I don't want this snake dying on me, any further advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want a replacement, I aim to nurse my anaconda back to good health. I'm sending an email to LLL with a link to this thread so hopefully with all the help I can get my pet will be alright.

Lillyorchid if you actually read my original post I said that I've already been in contact with them about this. Sorry if that comes off as rude but I'm very stressed and you're not being very helpful.

I have tried that yeah. He is big enough to start on small rats but I've tried adult mouse (too small for him) a one day old chick, and a medium African soft fur rat (also smaller than his girth). He won't eat anything I've tried. Anything else I could try? I have to eat dinner and get my daughter to bed so I'll be back later. Thank you everyone.

I aim to nurse my anaconda back to good health.

As someone with a bit of experience with young WC green anacondas, I feel confident in saying that you very well may end up fighting an entirely uphill battle that ends in heartbreak. You may want to find yourself a good chick supplier and look into scenting prey items with fish, in the fairly likely event that your 'conda shows no interest in rodents.

If a snake is in transit for three days in this weather, that is not the fault of the shipper, that is the shipping company. I have had snakes lost in transit for over a day before, and they arrived fine, but that was shipping in Spring or Fall when conditions were good. Dehydration in young snakes sets in fast, and can set in play a series of events that result in long term health issues, however, again, that is not a direct fault of the shipper. What you need to do when buying a snake from a company that is known to by captive farmed animals (all anacondas coming into the country are farmed), is get a picture of the exact snake the day it was shipped. Then, call them immediately with any issues. In your case, I would have called them to let them know you were worried about the health of the snake due to the extreme transit duration, and see what they advised. Tap water was not a dumb response, as it has been shown that distilled water is not good for reptiles. Many people might think they are benefiting their snake by giving them distilled water, but the are not. One you get the snake hydrated and settled in, then you can attempt feeding. As mentioned above, feeding baby anacondas is never fun. Fish or chicks is all that I ever had success with when I helped raise some. Only after they were established on those did they start to transition to rodents.

I have not read this entire email due to time, but contact LLL, tell them the snake was in transit for 3 days, the snake is weak, not responding to hydration methods (if that is true), and all in all in bad shape. See how they respond at that point. Don't back down, as you mentioned you don't want to be confrontational, but don't be rude either. AS my mother would say, you get more with honey than vinegar. Keep us posted.

Note, I generally only buy from breeders directly, not imports or farm bred (unless its a rare species that I cannot get otherwise). I have found that to be much better.

My 2 cents... I'm surprised your snake is alive at all... 3 days for shipping? Even if it were a healthy captive bred snake it could perish spending 3 days in transit. I see you live in Alaska.. Isn't it winter there? I mean brutally winter? I am not siding at all with LLL, but no one should expect an animal to arrive in good condition , let alone alive after 3 days in transit below freezing... Good luck with your snake, hope he pulls through for you.

It may not be the sellers fault that the animal was in transit for 3 days but that dos not relieve them of their responsibility of making sure the buyer gets a healthy animal. The onus is on LLL to make the situation right with the buyer as soon as is reasonably possible and take any issues of reimbursement up with the carrier themselves. Maybe no one should expect an animal to arrive in good condition after 3 days in transit in bad weather but they should expect the seller to go good for it.

Just my opinion and that is why I won't deal with anyone who has "not responsible for carrier delays" or anything similar in their TOS.

I agree with you, me personally as someone who does ship animals, I would not even think of shipping when overnites drop less than 32 degrees on either end of the shipping. I paid for a snake in full back in late December, its not even an option to think of shipping now. He's in Minnesota , I am in NY.. Waiting patiently for my new arrival which can still be another 3 weeks before conditions are acceptable..

SMH.

Jimmy / Jade (not sure, we shipped the snake to a Jimmy, but Jade is the name on the original post here). You literally TALKED TO US YESTERDAY and placed an order for overnight supplies, while NOT mentioning the order was for a snake you got from us. Kate talked to you on the phone. She is the supervisor. You literally didn't mention it, but post the same day on here. You just approved the overnight order shipping fee for your products and mentioned they were for your sick snake, but didn't say it was from us, or the situation (jeez, we would have discounted all those products at the very least right off the bat). What in the wide world of sports are you doing when we have a full, 100% guarantee in place, have notes on your original order that you called about the delay and the dehydrated lethargic snake, we knew it was delayed by Fed Ex (which will make the snake look bad pretty quick, especially a wild caught anaconda which this absolutely was), and are MORE than happy to help out if the snake didn't recover. The last time you actually talked to us about the snake, you told Liz at our warehouse that it was improving over when you first got it. That it had a few bumps but had perked up. That was the last time we heard from you about the snake. So she is dumb and gave bad advice, is that what you are saying in your original post? If it sounds like I am a little irritated, well, I am. And disappointed.

I don't get it. We are more than happy to fully cover you according to our guarantee (and still will, even after this horrible title of us abusing animals), but the simple step of you calling our toll free # (we are open 7 days a week), or emailing us that you still had concerns, or just make sure you are still covered, couldn't be done, but you did have time to make this post, and yet still NOT contact us? Nobody has contacted us today about this thread. I just happen to check the board.

We sell some very difficult animals. Mangrove snakes, anacondas, difficult frogs, chameleons to name a few. There are inherent risks that come along with the purchase. But when something like this happens, we 100% cover it. Simply contacting us and giving us the opportunity to take care of you and give you advice versus making a post with an absolutely horrible, slanderous title that makes me want to not help you what-so-ever is an a terrible way to handle the situation. It literally makes me want to tell our warehouse to not help at all. But we don't do that, even when a situation like this arises. We still 100% go by our full guarantee.

I am always amazed by how quick people are to react to stuff (in regards to any company, breeder, seller) on this board versus letting the situation play out, seeing what the seller will do before slamming them online. If in the end, you feel like you got the short end of the stick, or got outright screwed, then go for it.

Jimmy / Jade, you are more than welcome to still call us, and I recommend you DO. If only for advice, as we deal with a lot of these guys, and we sold it to you. But beyond that, update us on it's progress or lack thereof, and we will still take care of you 100% if it doesn't turn around. But learn something from this. WAIT before reacting in the future to any negative situation, and don't assume the worst out of people or businesses before you have even made an effort on your end. Some care quite a bit. Pretty sure I do, and our staff does. We take great pride in how we care for our customers. In the end, we can't please everyone. We have been doing this for many years. We sell thousands of animals a month. Considering the amount of animals we breed ourselves, we purchase from other breeders (both big and small), and imports we deal with, our staff does an absolutely amazing job, and each one of us cares a great deal about the animals. Your post is way out of line. Give us a call, ask for Kate, and she will figure it out with you.

especially a wild caught anaconda which this absolutely was

I noticed your Kingsnake.com ad didn't mention whether your green anacondas were CB or WC. In the aforementioned KS ad -which includes multiple species of snakes - I can't help noticing that the green anacondas are one of only two species whose origin isn't stated. Was the OP made aware of this snake's origin, before making her purchase? From the tone of her posts, I get the impression that she didn't know it would be WC.

Also, assuming that the following statement ends up being truthful:

Also he is covered in cuts and scars
Was the buyer made aware of this particular specimen's physical condition?

I apologize if the answer to this should be clear to me, and my intention is not to accuse anyone of wrongdoing, but are anacondas not part of the species restricted to sell/ship across state lines?
