    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Clark, these threads are not only so that individuals can receive help and advice from the community although that is extremely important. They also serve as guides to anyone who might consider a future transaction with either of the parties.
It might be that after reading this thread, people may avoid doing business with Runde, and the thread may have saved them from the same fate you have encountered.
That is why these threads are permanent, and why you can't suggest in a thread he is probably reading that you would be willing to throw us under the bus and have the thread removed if he sends your snakes. (You can suggest it, it isn't going to happen).
Runde will have this thread to look at for the rest of his life. Anyone doing a search on his name will see it. Good thing, too.
 
I agree with Lucille.

He's a young man and this will follow him.
If he was serious about getting into the reptile trade, it's pretty much done for now.

Sorry for thinking that... I guess I was just thinking that if I happened to be in the wrong, and his BS story proved to be true, that I'd feel stupid that I started the thread. I wouldn't turn my back on you guys at all.

At this point, it's very clear that I'm not in the wrong. His latest tactic is this email:
"My name is Dakota. I just got my phone back, I found it in my school library plugged into a computer. It was missing for Over a week, who the f+#^ are you??"

Unless I can get the sheriff there to do anything, I don't think I stand a chance. At least, Hopefully, this thread will stop him. I wish we knew his screen name, if he has one. Crooks like him, though, will just change to a new one.

The city or county must have an animal control. Have you called them?
The local paper has reporters, have you sent this thread to one of them and talked it out? Often media people know all sorts of people, that might help.
Have you investigated to see what school libraries are close by and sent them this thread? While the library story sounds like a lie, it is certainly justification for sending this thread to some of them.

We are sorry that you got scammed. Stop with the 'po me' posts and grow a pair and go after this guy.
 
It is too bad that it seems nobody lives close to "Runde" that would be willing to help out. They could go over there, with a power of attorney (from Clark) and a police officer present (by having called the police dept. with a request for a police "stand by"), and attempt to retrieve the snakes for Clark.
 
For what its worth this is a really sad deal. My condolences.

I've reposted this thread to one of the Des Moines local reptile groups and will also let the Iowa Herpetological Society know. Something that can for sure be done is find out if these animals are being offered for sale locally. Someone more local to that area will hopefully be able to help more but that's a start :(
 
I don't mean to sound like 'po me'. The address I shipped to isn't in a city's limits. It's Guthrie county sheriff department that I'm trying to work with so far. I like the idea of trying a reporter. I'll try that route, too.

I've not discussed with a deputy yet. The one they transfer me to hasn't been available each time I've called. I'm not giving up, but just pointing out how stupid I was not to do a bit more due diligence. Others should learn from my example, right? Having lucked out in the past on trades, I just hadn't expected this like I should have.

Clark, You should file a online compliant with the IC3, they investigate internet crime and are part of the FBI. I would also contact your own local police because they might put pressure on the Iowa Sheriff to get charges pressed.
 
I've sent a message to his mom. Also, he already had LA as his city, but 50070 as his zip code, lol.

The Guthrie County sheriff dept. has been checking in to it since I emailed and called them yesterday. I was able to speak with one of them, and they are going to visit the address on Monday.

I'll check into the IC3 and file a complaint. Thanks!
 
Who cares be glad he is watching the thread..I hope he gets arrested. Maybe he will get a job so he doesn't have to rip others off for their hard earned money
