I also just got ripped off by Upstate Exotics
Well, i do not usually deal with little piddly **** dealers like this but i did this time and payed for it. Not much just $400 but that is enough, it is the principle of the whole thing, not even the money. i bought and payed for 4 baby CBI's they had posted on kingsnake. Well, they shipped them to me and used really crappy shipping like another fella mentioned. The snakes were very cold and the heat packs were no where near them. The snakes appeared to be "OK" at first. I was very busy that day and did not get a look at them again until the next afternoon when i noticed on of them was jerking/twitching all over the place. I thought, what the hell, i hope this little guy does not have IBD. I found later they ALL had the same symptoms. It was wierd becasue they were just sitting there, shakeing/jerking/twitching all over the place. I emailed Upstate ****heads and explained the situation to them and then talked to them by AIM. They told me they could not return the snakes without a vet statement. I thought this was not right in the first place because they GURANTEE satisfaction and i was obviously not satisfied. If this was the procedure, they should state it in their adds or on their site at least. Well, i live in maine and unfortunately do not have access to any knowledgable herp vets anyhow. I explained this to them in great detail many times. They did even acknowledge it and to make things worse they declined a MORE than reasonable offer. I actually got out my camcorder and tapes the snakes jerking all around violently, non stop! It is all caught on tape. So i AIM them back and told them this and they said they did care, no matter what proof, they were not gonna refund my money without a vet statement. What more proof do you need? These guys are complete idiots and have no clue about herps. FINALLY i got them to agree to take back the animals and refund my money. Well i thought all was cool, i just had to wait for the weather to warm up a little since i live in maine and they are in NY. We needed it just to warm up a bit. Well, three days later i get an email from these bastards saying how they are NOT gonna refund my money and take these snakes back. So now they decided to change their minds (how professonal) and i am stuck with 4 snakes that possibly have IBD. And the idiots blamed it on the fact that i used someone for a reference trying to prove that i had some credibility to them in the beginning and they called them and harrased this well known person (whose name i will not mention to spare him the embarrasment). Anyway, to maek a long story short. We exchanged many emails, many iggnorant emails from Upstae exotics and many angry ones from me. The conclusion? Even despite the video footage of all four snakes, that hell, would be good enough to hold up on court, they still denied my refund. And ALL because they say i need to see a vet, this is bull, they just want to be difficult and that is it. Period! All they do is make excuses and try to justify themselves but anyone can see that they always come up short with REAL qualified VALID arguments.
