Fine. I'm done. Upstate Exotics is run by cheats, liars, and scammers. The other businesses that they are running will have the same pitfalls as this one has had. Anyone who thinks otherwise is certainly more than free to try them out. However, don't you dare come crying back here about how they ripped you off too! Actually, do. That way everyone will see how Upstate treats their "good customers" too.

You guys are like my five-year-old. He never believes me when I say he's about to fall off of the top fence rail and hurt himself. He's just certain that the old man doesn't know what he's talking about, right up until he actually does fall. Then he can't understand how in the world I could see it coming!

Whatever . . .if you got a good deal, fine. Glad to hear it. For anyone with half a brain, the few good posts will never outweigh the MOUNTAIN of evidence that shows Sal's and Alison's true character (rather the complete and total lack thereof!).

the point is this..if you feel you have done the best you can then what else can you do.
again..i dont know anything about any of whats really going on nor do i want to know now that i have stuck my nose into it the way that i have.
thats not my point here ..im not offering suggestions to you because of anything i know or feel about whats happened.
when i KNOW in my mind i have done the best i can then what anyone else thinKs is irrelevant to me.
i myself have had a situation during the death of my father where i could not ship a snake that was not even promised to go out on a certain date..i was clear that i could not do it when asked at the last second because of a doctors appointment i had to be present for..the person who wanted the snake shipped berated me in such a way and offered to come here to tell on me because i did not or could not do what he at the last second suggested.
first off im not an in house pet shop..nor am i willing or offering to be threatened with scandal based on something of that nature.
i mean really now..but the fact was he was so unhappy and more so thinking i was un professional in my approach.
that being the case i asked that we cancel the deal and i return his money. the price i had gotten for that snake was decent and it would have been easy to have talked around it all endlessly with him and still i feel had it have come here nobody in their right mind would have expected me to be able to do what he asked.
so...get to the point kim....answer was this..why on earth would i want to continue to do business with such a person like this?
he and i are on two different wave lengths..see ya charlie.
id would rather wait and look for another buyer then to play around with a person of such nature..
but..in order to do this one must follow the no1 rule in sales.
DONT SPEND THE MONEY UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT THAT THE CUSTOMER IS SATISFIED.

follow that rule and you will have no problems.
if a person is unreasonable and the animal is good as it should be to have gone out take it back and move on.. etc etc.

nobody is able to satisfy all the people all the time but...
having the dough to return asap and walking away is a great way of keeping control of the situation..
how many posts do you see with people whining cuz so and so refunded me because i was too demanding and paid the shipping back to themselves..NONE.

My thoughts

I read this thread and my only thought on this is Upstate got one right. I tend to follow the old axiom that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Is it possible folks that there are people out there who have had good deals from Upstate and don't say anything, especially on the BOI, due to the reaction that these two people have gotten.

I look at it this way, if someone wants to do business with them and looks on the BOI there is plenty of posts about Upstate and I think everyone has had more than a fair chance to tell the world what they think of their buisness(business for those of you who doubt) practices.

The people who have had a good dealing have as much right to post as the people who have had bad. And do so without being slammed. And I didn't realize that spelling, grammar and all the other syntax were necessary to prove yourself as worthwhile. Since most of us tend to fall far short in the brain cell structure, I would hate to think that some would judge based on that, kinda like being judged on my looks. And since my looks and spelling leave a lot to be desired I have a natural burr going here. I understand about the comparison on spelling but maybe instead of all trying to be amateur detectives read what is said not how it was spelled.

For Upstate my thought is this, a step in the right direction is just that. I hope that things have changed, I still would be hesitant to do business with you, but over time with good transactions that might even change.

let me add..as if anyone wants to read all kims stuff today..forgive me guys im stressing here.
anyhow..the person with the refund i did stay awake through a few posts of his..he wanted a refund and something about a credit card..this person i would have refunded asap.
this is a person that should have gotten a deelybob thing present and his dough back and thanks see ya next time.
the delay was unnecessary if that was what happened and it added some unnecessary drama to your situation whatever that was..it wasent worth it in the end i already know that by your responses because i can see your are frustrated.
if you dont feel threatened by me i am always around and do my best to not be a creep ..or judgemental..i think ..this is so pat myself on back but i do believe that perhaps a little help from the rest of us and you be willing to listen and accept and some of us go off the attack and perhaps in the end its not so bad.
i know im super idealistic..so forgive me in that but life is too short to sit here crying and fighting endlessly when in your heart you really just want to fit in and be accepted..its ok to goof up but its not ok to let a goof up stay and goof up and get mad at the others about pointing it out..
remember..its that togetherness that keeps us going..
most of the rest of the world cant stand reptiles and no matter if your a good guy or a bad guy doesnt matter to them..
we dont need to carve each other up meanwhile ..

I agree with a lot of what you said, although to be honest I would not deal with Upstate at this point and as you said maybe I will think differantly in the future,But if by some weird chance I did do a deal with them and it went absolutely perfect, I would hesitate to post it here, knowing full well I will be the target of attacks. I have not been using the BOI and Fauna very long but I have come to respect what it does and what it represents very much. I can honestly say thanks to the BOI I have learned more than I thought posible in such a short time and once again thanks to the BOI I have met and dealt with a lot of great people. But this thread has taken a turn that is just not right, The original poster has been attacked for doing exactly what he was supposed to do, now I have to wonder how many people are sitting back not saying anything about their good deals because they dont want the same thing to happen to them. I know of at least one for sure, and I havent been doing this as a business that long. These are just some things I have been thinking about, and this post is in no way meant to say Upstate are good guys or the bad things they have done should just be forgotten. It just seems to me that the purpose of the BOI is not to attack people who have had good dealings with people some others may not approve of. By doing so I think in a way the BOI is being tarnished, its just not right for it to be ok to attack people for posting their experience, whether good or bad, because that is what the BOI is here for. As always the thoughts expressed here are only my opinions.

Mike you may have a point there but, I think you may be missing the forest for the trees.

The vast majority of people who post positive for anyone meet with no bashing at all. However, in regards to upchuck, they HAVE had people come here and lie for them. This is incontrivertable truth. So on this thread, or any other involving them most likely, there will be LARGE amounts of skeptism(sp).

I do think though that it is seen here far more often than anywhere else. You are known by who you run with. This is plain and simple. We all know people that we avoid just because of how they look or because someone else has said something negative about them. These people do NOT always deserve the reputation they have. In this particular instance however, it is not only well deserved, it has been broght on, fostered, raised up, bred back to itself and turned loose on us by upchuck themselves.

I think there have been half a dozen good guy posts today. See if any of them have gotten the heat that this one has. They haven't because they haven't had customers come on here and LIE for them.

alison has brought this delimma on herself. It's too bad your friends can't or won't post about the good dealings they had with her but, in all honesty, if it's not someone I know personally I will doubt first and believe later with this particular company.

People should be free to post a good thread and not get bashed for it, NO MATTER WHO THEY BOUGHT FROM.
I look back at the threads I write, and started wondering why I always feel compelled to write something like, "and I am not sticking up for upstate" when I am not but simply trying to be fair.
The other thread, and I myself is included, has fifty or more pages of basically two deals gone bad.
Where does it end? In my opinion this is not what the BOI is for, infinite bashing.
Anyone should feel free to come on here and post without the bad taste of wondering if what they write will be slammed.
It is this persons opinion on upstate, leave it at that.

Like I said I havent been here long and there may very well be instances of their friends coming on and lieing to make them look good that I did not know about. That being the case I could see where the skeptisism (sp?) would come from. I guess my concern was that by attacking these people without any proof we would be takeing away from what the BOI is intended for. Makeing it harder for us to actualy come to a fair conclusion, If Upstate actualy turned around and started doing good how would we know if people are afraid to post their experience's? I dont want this to be seen as me attacking anyone or anything by any means, I am simply stateing my concerns in this particular instance, as I said, at this point I would not deal with Upstate, But I am always happy to see people make a change for the good. I also agree that it is not an overnight thing, it takes a long time to earn the public's trust once you have lost it. But we should leave the door open for that to happen also, ie. Not discrediting good guy posts that we have no proof are not what they say they are. Once again, just my opinion and thanks for reading my gibberish

Oh forgot, I hope I am not only know by who I know but by who I am. I gather information and then make a decision on what I think, not who I run with thinks.
If I make mistakes or have bad judgement as in Neils case, oh well, I took a chance, I at least gave the benefit of the doubt and it didnt pan out, I was out money that I never asked for back. I take my lumps.
That was my mind that decided to take that chance, I am not a bad person just because I decided to make a deal, or talk with him on the phone, Geesh.

I do know upstate and Neil are friends so one reason for my hesitation on upstate, but I am re-thinking that, because I would not be fair then making an assumption of guilt by association.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe that I "bashed" anyone personally for making a good guy post. I only joined the thread after Alison said something along the lines of being "fair." Nothing was addressed in regards to the good guy posts or who posted them.

If I made someone feel as though I was "bashing" them, I sincerely apologize.

If these individuals had posted neg we would be all over feeling sorry, but because they posted pos they get questioned. I do see the forest and the trees. DO YOU??

You know one of the great things about this business is there's more than one reptile "seller"...that means, if I want something - I get to PICK from many breeders/sellers and CHOOSE who get's my money, cool huh?? My personal opinion - I am very PICKY about the animals in my collection and who it came from...I just don't see it happening in my rack...
