• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

And to be honest, I find it every bit as entertaining as everyone else does, and I don't need to work nearly so hard at it as I used to, because of it.

Hey send me those emails when you have a chance. Please include the full headers and do not edit your emails address out as you've done here. Your an IT professional? I think you mentioned that? Send them, but again.. don't edit a thing as you've done so far...because I just might have the emails from NCE's side.

Still waiting on those emails Aaron.

Aaron, Georgia has a great deal of restrictions on reptiles and they are actually enforcing it now. Just an FYI- In addition to Alligators, you also cannot have Corn Snakes, Eastern Hognoses, box turtles, etc. We have a hard enough time in GA. Please research the laws or contact me rather than taking a chance of breaking them.

Not all, or even most, if the poll results are the criteria you're basing this on. In the lead was "Stay the Course" closely followed by "Ease up a bit". Collectively these were 92% of the votes. Throw the Gates Wide Open (my heading) had only a few takers. I do agree though that you, and the moderators are not baby sitters and we are supposedly adults. Also that the BOI still serves a good purpose, although with wide open changes the effectiveness is weakened.

Emphasis added by me....

Now that IS funny! I heard exactly that same argument directed at me when I was strictly enforcing the rules and had the toll booth up to try to put some legitimacy into who is eligible to post here. Man, this place just crack me up sometimes........ :rofl:

But for the record, the gate has NOT been thrown wide open. Just the rules have been GREATLY reduced, and enforcement, well, sporadic, at best, as I have no intention of doing otherwise. So let's say "half way" or "three quarters way" open instead.

Sorry gang, but if I am going to get bashed no matter what I do, well I am naturally going to do the least amount of work as possible for the same amount of bashing.

Enjoy..........

Chuck,

One again you have not read everything before you post. They are posted on this thread, I can't hold your hand and take you there.

Chuck you can go fuck yourself.
wow this thread really went south.....

I think it should be locked

Worse threads than this have not been locked...I'm pretty sure this one won't be either. (Perhaps luckily) it is not the call of the involved parties, or the participants, to decide when/if a thread is locked.

Dammit, no matter hard I beat it, the horse is still DEAD. Lemme try beating it with a bigger stick.....

<yawn>

Well, since the thread has been thrown wide open, and I thank Rich for his participation here, there is one thing that has stuck in my crawl since the opening of the wilder west and relaxing of certain rules. Specifically, paid membership. At least when we had to pay, we risked more when the lines were crossed. I do not want to confuse a relaxing of the rules with the junking of a minimal fee to participate. Two different issues. I can understand the relaxing of the rules, but whatever reasons justify the "free-for-all" participation are different. You (Rich) have justified the fee differential, or a failure to refund to previously paid members in the past, by saying that those who paid received higher levels of service. True if we paid more than $10. But whether we paid $10 or $100 to be a member before, you then extended the $10 benefits to all for free. In my logic of things, you then owed everyone some sort of pro-rated $10 refund who had been a paid member, for at least that part of what they purchased could now be had for free. Do I want $5 or such back ? No. But I don't think you should keep it either. A token donation to a wide-based charity would be a nice gesture.

As for those complaining for people being allowed to be themselves here, show their asses, etc. I guess we all wish for a world in which when people disagree, they do so within civil parameters. Well, I wish too. But it won't happen in my lifetime, in my kids' lifetimes, or in my grandkids' lifetime. A few of the "complainers" here have been known to take a cheap shot and show those asses in dealing with their angst. While I would be the first to suggest that you are highly unlikely to change others wiht the complaining, I would suggest possible results if you turn your literary keyboard efforts upon yourselves. Paid membership had its privileges for the subscriber. It also became a hedge (not guarantee) against overt stupidity, those benefits extending to all.

I'm pretty sure that no one is making money off this site. When you think how many hours go into the work, I'd say WebSlave doesn't owe anyone anything.
I like the site, and the BOI just fine. The threads where juvenile idiots start slinging filthy language around, I ignore. Works for me. And anyone that starts slinging filthy language and acting like a juvenile is not someone I would buy from, or sell to. Whether the thread is about them or not, you can show yourself to be mature, responsible and reliable... or you can start to scream and point fingers and use foul language.
It's really your own choice as to how to act, what to post, and whether to participate.
