I am not understanding why Bobby is not taking the initiative to contact his exporter and ask for an update. It is not too much for a buyer, after a years delay, might expect that the seller would find out why there is a delay and get back to the buyer. If in fact Bobby did have an exporter in the first place, no proof has been shown and Bobby seems to think he is above proof:

Seriously? $500? And a snippy, rude, and unprofessional message? That's ridiculous. I wouldn't know Bobby Hill from Joe Blow on the street, and I plan to keep it that way after this thread. Even if I did have an intersest in tegus, I would surely go to someone else to get one. I couldn't care less about how Mr. Hill conducted his business in the past, the way that he presented himself here was all I needed to be disgusted by his business ethics and customer service. Like it was mentioned before, we may not be "police" here, but we are ALL potential customers, and you are only hurting yourself, Bobby, by acting like a 2 year old. Being unprofessional and rude to any customer- present or potential- will catch up to you. You apparently think you are "big stuff" and maybe you are in the tegu world, I really don't know, but either way, karma will come back, sir. You may very well not like many people here, but as a professional, calling them trolls and various other rude names isn't the proper way to conduct yourself. While it is really sad that all of us are chastising you like a child and what's even more sad is that this probably won't do anything to faze you. I really wish there was some way to make sure EVERY possible and returning customer could see this thread. Anyone who would do business with you after reading this thread, is crazy, if you ask me.

I wholeheartedly mean it when I say this, Mr. Hill: Please take some "you" time. Take a step back from your business and figure out what it is that you can do to fix yourself. Apparently you were once an upstanding businessman, and it would be in your best interest to try and be that person again. You really need to take some time off, work on yourself, and then come back and sincerely apologize to this community and then MAYBE you can redeem yourself.

What the heck just happened. I've been following this thread since it posted, seeing as it directly concerned a seller I have been planning to buy from for a long time.

Did we seriously just watch someone who used to be a respected and long-time seller fall flat on their face???

I'm so confused, and afraid to spend money anywhere...who knows who it could be next....

Bobby I plan to rear a tegu once my daughter is grown more and had always looked to your website and you as the person I was going to go to to get my tegu... because I really like to buy quality animals from the good guys and generally, you get what you pay for so I don't mind paying top dollar to a top of the line seller.

After an entire year of waiting, at LEAST your buyer is entitled to some proof, and your extra time... how long does it take to try and find out as much info as you can, and send your buyer the emails showing you are trying to get things in line? You can't just leave someone in the dark when you have that much of their money.... by all means, you are not obligated to provide US proof, but you are to your buyer.

However.... that just flew out the window! Because if something went wrong during the transaction I'd get treated like crap according to your most recent actions. Now I am not sure from whom I will buy a tegu in the future. I suppose there are others.

I've always respected Bobby Hill's past responses. I found his straight forward, logical, common sense thinking to be refreshing. He used to know right from wrong & said it. WHAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS 180 DEGREE TURN?
Did I miss something? The OP deserves his $1250 back...asap, but I don't hold out much hope for it. Very sad.

I don't know what soured him in regards to Fauna, but geez man calling everyone here a troll is over the top. You have 3000+ posts here, so at one time you thought Fauna was worthy of your time.

For someone who is one of the "big guys" he sure let $1250 (the refund due to the OP) send him over the edge.

I see some referring to his outburst as a 2 year old, but I think it is closer to a grouchy & mean spirited old man, trying to hurt others before he himself is hurt.

I know that your only cost currently has been the CITES application.
None of the other charges would be needed until close to the date of export.

How do I know this? Because I am in fact heavily involved in the export business - and there's many people that can verify this for you on the domestic side and international.

Yep. I know I'll just be dismissed as "not one of the big boys" so my vouching won't be given a second glance. But in the couple of years I've known Kevin, and his boss, and done business with his place of employment, this is EXACTLY what they do!

Selling to local vendors like me is MAYBE 5% of their business, the rest is ALL import and export. Kev's my go-to guy on the occasions I have questions about import/export/CITES/trade restrictions. He knows his business, and knows it well.

Really guys? Come on, we are talking about an overseas shippment, it is not instant pudding, tegus are Cites II, and you cannot ship without a Cites permit. Simon did not want to wait, and I cannot control the USFW. This is not the first time I had a long wait, I waited 14 months last year on one of the permits.

This crap being posted here is really getting old. There is just way too much trolling. If you want the stats on your tegu, why don't you try contacting me? And not going by crap posted here.

That said, is there anyone that made a deposit on an Extreme that did not hear from me about them hatching? As for the BnWs, they will be hatching around the end of this month, I do have some that are hatching around the 20th, but these will be going to those that rolled their deposit over from last season.

I cannot go by user names here and figure out who you are, if you have any questions or concerns, why not contact me? As for Heather, please emil me and let me know what name the tegu was reserved under.

As for Simon, he got a refund for what he deserves, he breached the contract and changed his mind. I will tell you this, the Extreme he was going to get is one awesome Extreme, I think he will be just fine staying here with me.

Here's Bobby's most recent post on another forum, concerning the situation. Can't help but get a little chuckle over the fact that the very next post is from somone pointing out that he gave Bobby a deposit last August, and still hasn't heard back from him yet. Continued attempts at contact sure did work out well for the OP of this thread.

If you read through that thread, there are several references to him having some similar "issues" in the not too distant past. Gotta wonder if his sudden distaste for the BOI may have something to do with a paradigm shift in how he chooses to do business.

No wonder he's afraid of hanging out at Fauna. We're not so quick to genuflect in the face of his past greatness. Just kinda amazes me how quick some are to excuse his current ripoff and focus on what he's done right in the past. Poor Bobby. People actually giving him crap for shoddy business practices. Oh, I think he knows just how influential the BOI can be. Posting his meaningless diatribe and scurrying off like a coward tells me that; not only does he realize how many people will see and judge him by this thread, but also that he knows he's wrong and doesn't even have a valid case to present.

Even among his little den of enablers, there are some chinks appearing in the armor. Several people have expressed serious doubt as to whether they'd consider buying from him, based on how he's chosen to handle recent events. Mind you, these are people on a forum that's devoted to tegus, people that are very likely to actively want what he has to sell. Even if only half of those expressed sentiments manifest themselves in lost sales, he's already lost as much in legitimate future sales as he's gained by theft. As to whether or not he has the mental capacity to grasp that..I have my doubts. However, I think that, to some degree, what's gone around is already heading back in his general direction.

Taking Deposits is Risky (and poor) Business Practice

I can't believe that Bobby Hill actually takes deposits and sometimes has to roll those deposits over to the next year. That is a practice that is guaranteed to dissapoint. I produce 50 to 60 Blue Tegus each year and I never take deposits. I agree with waiting lists, etc. but taking someone's money just doesn't sit well with me.

In addition, everyone knows that it is very difficult to ship CITES animals overseas these days. If his morals were in the right place, Bobby should've politely told the OP that it might be too difficult and point him to a breeder in Europe. The OP can definitely find a Tegu in Germany or England for probably less than this headache cost him. I guess the money was just too hard for Bobby to pass up, especially when you can make up a huge number and the OP, not understanding the actual fees (and difficulty of importing a CITES animal), agreed.

Just give the guy his money back.

Seems that ol' Bobby may have been abusing whatever privileges he has on TeguTalk to delete posts and threads addressing his poor communication and customer service. Just doesn't seem like the way a 'stand-up' kinda guy should handle problems.

There isn't....copy/pasting and screen shots from other sites is simple enough to do, but (as has been brought up many times over the years) other sites do not have our name requirements. Unless the full names of the authors of the posts are shown, then they would fall under the category of anonymous third party quotation.

But there is....if the involved parties opt to post here.
