    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Some snakes are worth the extra effort it takes to rear them.
Only some thayeri will be problematic out of the egg, much like the corns that were a pain in the butt this year for you.......
 
Hi Kevin. Here is the post I am adding to my Thayeri thread:

I have been shopping around for another female for my yellow male. I found the nice orange female and thought the project was complete. Well, until tonight, she had not eaten for me. I got her back in July. I bought her out of the egg, supposedly, but I now have my own opinion as to how that played out. Anyway, once she gets done eating, I will get a photo to post. I tried a live, day old pink, scented with a worm snake from the freezer. At least now I have a starting point. And I had given up on her. I tried scenting with the same worm snake, only f/t pink 2 nights ago and nothing.

I own 3. The female mentioned above, an adult that came eating f/t mice, and my smoker yellow male I bought at just a few weeks of age that ate f/t pinks from the start. I would just say be prepared and have things onhand for scenting in case you need it. As mentioned before, some find it worth while to work with species that can be picky at first. I do personally.
 
I recently acquired 5 baby pyros. The oldest male eats live pinks no scenting every time I feed him. The other four needed their pinks dipped in fence lizard tea, and one needed the pink lanced to smell blood, and they all eat every time no problem as well. I have a little container of lizard tea in the freezer; when its time to feed them I can thaw out a little bit. I have a batch of frozen lizards taken from my cats for just this purpose. It would be nigh impossible to keep these exquisite little snakes without having the proper tools on hand. My older pyros never needed any scenting but these babies do.
