    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i have had these's two colombian boa's from birth i rasied them for 2 1/2 years well i sold them 2 months ago to a guy that im not gonna name but he knows who he is anyways for what ever the reason was he could no longer take care of them so he gave them back to me.when i opened the box my heart droped and i started to ball my eyes out and so what if im 31 i really loved these guys but anyways they were both FRIED TO DEATH WITH 14 6HOUR HEAT PACKS theses guys were like my kids sorry for going on n on but i just had to get this off my chest

One or two of those packs would have been fine.

And have no biz shipping living things.

Sorry for your loss. They need to find a new source for information on shipping.
 
I'd love to know who told them that they should use 14 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) heatpacks...


I'm so sorry for you... but I would recommend posting about this on the BOI. I don't want to buy from someone who'd do something so thoughtless.

but me and this guy have dealt with eachother for some time now and nothing like this has ever happend befor ill never know why he shipped like that.and i do hope that he learned something from all of this.he feeled so bad for me that he even offerd to payme $275 for the snakes that i never even had sent him my payment out yet.well the boas have been layed to rest in the backyard under the apple tree
 
OMG.....

I can't believe what those poor snakes went through......how horrible. The thought of animals suffering like that makes me sick to my stomach.......:angry:

We ran several tests with the heat packs and containers we use before ever shipping an animal. We only use one type of box...... http://www.techpak.com/productdetail.tps?sector=speciality&line=containers&plid=29&ptid=44 and one type of heat pack. We used a thermometer placed inside the boxes and we watched the digital display over 3 days to see what the temps were inside the boxes.....we did not want any doubts as to the conditions our animals would be in while being shipped. People also have to take into consideration how tightly they wrap their boxes and how much oxygen is allowed in their containers after wrapping and taping. Where the heat packs need oxygen to produce heat....and who knows, maybe there are people that don't even realize that....you need to know if enough oxygen is getting in for the heat packs to work properly. It's pretty scary to think of all the people out there shipping animals with no clue as to what they are doing, and not caring enough about the animals to perform a couple of simple tests before ever shipping an animal.
 
More importantly, since the heat packs require oxygen, there must be enough oxygen for the snakes too!

This is really sad and I'm sure the guy didn't mean to to do it. He wanted them to have a better home and that's why he sent them back to you...I'm absolutely sure this was just an unfortunate (and stupid) accident, which doesn't need to be on the BOI...

If you read the first and second post, it was explained that the buyer was returning the snakes to the seller because he didn't have time for them. It was no longer a buyer/seller deal, worthy of the BOI, but just a favor. I'm sure the buyer has learned his lesson and will never put that many heat packs in a box again. This must be awful for him...to live with the fact that he killed two boas.
 
Sorry to hear about your loss. When do the words common sense come into play. They were 6 hour packs and they last for that long regardless of whether you use 1 or 100. Again sorry to hear of this it is a shame Jesse V

i just would like to thank everyone for your kind words,i just still feel so really bad for the pain they must have went thro in that little box and there was nothing that could do,i haven't cryed in a verylong time but friday morning when i opened the box my heart just droped,i have never felt so much pain befor as i did that morning,it felt like i lost a loved one,but im sure with time i will feel better,but from here on out im gonna tell the shipper and not ask on how they plane on shipping,im gonna tell them how to ship the right way and i don't care who they are,well i got another e-mail from the guy i wish i could tell everyone his name but i do not want anyone to hold this againest him,he is a very good stand up guy in the herp world and all around,and i know he is going thro the pain that im going thro now.thanks again for everyones kind words







Dave, I really don't know what to say. I'm really sorry. Those heat
packs were very short lives (4-6 hrs, as per the label). I admit my
mistake. I followed advice, which was not good (but I only blame myself
for following it). I cannot apologize enough for this. I of course
don't want anything, as I of course will fund the shipping. I don't
blame you for thinking I owe you something. What compensation do you
want? The reason I needed to sell them was to take care of my rescues'
veterinary bills. Along with being further in dept due to this
incident, you could not make me feel any worse than I already do. Do
you want me to pay you again for the snakes...if that's what it will
take, then fine. I respect you more than you will ever know. You have
been very good to me and I know I have not done the same...but I promise
you it was not intentional. I take full responsibility for this, and can
only beg your forgiveness.
 
If this guy is on the level, and isn't it a shame that I can't just assume he is, then he seems to be genuinely sorry and hurt about the way he shipped those snakes. This speaks VERY well for him.

I'm really sorry that happened too.

Now you, especially the shipper, know how NOT to ship snakes and you can pass that knowledge on to others so it doesn't happen again.

I think this was a terrible accident and it is obvious that the shipper did not mean to hurt the snakes.
I find it interesting that you raised these snakes for 2 1/2 years, said in your original post that they were like your kids, and yet you sold them.
Why did you sell your children?
I think this is a wake up call to all of us, that once we sell an animal, its fate is out of our hands; if we truly cherish that particular critter it might be worthwhile trying to keep it...
