In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Dear Herpetoculturists,

There are captive born and bred Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boas currently available on Kingsnake.com from Karen Clark, Pembroke Pines, http://bellsouthpwp.net/k/c/kclark49/.
Be careful when you deal with her, as in addition to being very impolite, she will take the sale pending off the animal if she hasn't received your money order within 6 business days after mailing!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, this is never mentioned by Karen Clark before the transaction.............

Yours sincerely,

Does a seller really need to tell you that your payment should arrive in less than 6 days?

And placing a snake back on the market if payment isn't received within a reasonable amount of time is wrong because???

If I had a dollar for everyone who strung sellers along with "the check's in the mail; holdl the animal for me" I sure as hell wouldn't be at work right now.

After a week of no payment showing up, I don't feel that it's unreasonable for a snake to be placed back on the market.

Are you sure you have the right Karen Clark?

Karen and her husband Craig are perhaps some of the nicest and most knowledgable treeboa folks you'll ever meet, rudeness is very uncharacteristic of them and I must assume that there's more to this story. I have known the Clark's for a couple of years now and cannot believe that they would randomly treat you inappropriately.

I think that if Karen was rude to you it was for a good reason...

I HAVE DEALT PERSONALY WITH THE CLARKS FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS(SINCE MY DAYS WORKING AT GOLD COAST REPTILES) AND NOT ONLY HAVE I NEVER KNOWN THEM TO BE IMPOLITE , BUT THEY WERE ALWAYS A BRIGHT PART OF MY DAY WHENEVER THEY CAME IN TO PURCHASE THIER RODENTS. AS FOR THEM PLACEING A ANIMAL BACK UP FOR SALE AFTER 6 DAYS OF NON RECIEPT OF PAYMENT THATS ACTUALLY 5 DAYS MORE THAN I WOULD HOLD ANY ANIMAL . THE WAY I SEE IT IF THE ANIMALS IS NOT PAYED VIA PAY PAL THEN I REQUIRE THAT THE MONEY BE OVER NIGHTED NO EXCEPTIONS . I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS MORE TO THIS STORY AND I HOPE THE CLARKS COME ON SOON TO SHARE THIER SIDE . I FOR ONE KNOW THAT THE CLARKS ARE SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY TO DEAL WITH AND HIGHLY RECOMEND THEM

This guy is obviously a rookie...

that has no idea how to complete a transaction in a timely manner. Sad thing is that he is the one whos name should be in the Title of this thread.

This is what scares some people about the BOI, that you could have anyone post a badguy report for no reason...
These are goog people that when I get the funds will get my business and I will pay when I say.

Nicolas Vidal - Deadbeat buyer

Thanks guys for the good words.

Here's the story. Nicolas told us he mailed the money order on the 13th several times. I will post at least one of his e-mails below. On the 20th (EIGHT days after being told it was mailed) I wrote to him telling him nothing had been received and that I was removing the sale pending from the ad. It is now the 22nd and STILL no money order has shown up!!!!

Nicolas responded to my e-mail advising him of the removal of the sale pending from the ad, cancelling the sale and saying he felt deceived. I wrote back to him telling him that he was kept informed and had no reason to feel deceived, that he was informed before I removed the sale pending. He requested that we return the money order to him when it arrived. He was told that we would.

He has written to me several times over the last few days requesting that we return the M/O. He has been told we would. Today, he again wrote. I wrote him back this a.m. telling him that as of yesterday's mail it had not come and that if and when the M/O showed up it would be marked Return to Sender and sent back to him. I told him that I would contact him at that time and to please not bother me again about this. It was not in today's mail either, making a total of ten (10) days since it was supposedly mailed.

IF and WHEN it arrives, we will scan the envelope and we'll all see what day it was postmarked. Frankly, at this point, I don't think it will ever arrive, draw your own conclusions.

I have never been rude to Nicolas. In fact, just the opposite as he accused us of deceiving him because we removed the sale pending.

This is bordering on libel and I suggest Mr Vidal rethink his actions before he goes any further.

Below is the e-mail I sent to Nicolas after he cancelled the sale after being informed of the nonreceipt of the M/O and the removal of the sale pending. Sorry, I don't remember how to get the formatting code, but will find out tomorrow and post.

Hi Nicolas,

Sorry you feel that way, but you have no reason to feel deceived. You have
been kept informed. It has had ample time to get here as we received
yesterday a MO that was mailed from upstate New York on Thursday, two days
after you wrote me yours was mailed.

We didn't have to put sale pending on the ad. We did that because we are
honest people and:
a) didn't want any one else thinking the animal was still available.
b) to show YOU our good faith.
It's a safe bet I won't ever place a sale pending again now.

Recently we were strung along for three weeks by someone (who we had chatted
with for years on a couple of different message boards and thought was our
friend) saying the MO was in the mail. He even, at one point, had the gall
to say it had been FedX'd, but couldn't provide the tracking #, said he lost
the receipt. This incident is the reason I did this, if you can't
understand, then oh well.

Karen

Doesn't sound like a bad guy to me. There are lot of sellers out there that will not consider an animal sold until there is some sort of downpayment recieved.

Kind of sounds like a scam to me.. pretty soon I am sure he will claim you have recieved the money order and demand the money back

Jumping

Nic,

You are wrong or atleast jumping the gun....Unless you are personal friends with the seller, most reputable sellers require payment within a reasonable amount of time. I have lost money in holding snakes for pending sales to find out payment never shows up. If your m/o gets cashed and you never see it...then post here. :)

This sounds very odd to me. There is no reason it would have taken 10 days for a letter to reach the seller. They did nothing wrong with taking the animal off the hold when the money order did not show up in a timely fashion. Personally our company policy is an animal is not put on hold without payment or a deposit. We sometimes will "hold" an animal long enough for a customer to send a money order express overnight or second day to us but not long enough for regular mail unless the person resides within Florida which only takes 2 days through regular mail. This sounds to me like a stall tactic and I would not be surprised that the money order was sent just a day or so ago if actually sent at all. Unfortunately there are buyers out there that will string you along trying to buy more time before sending payment. Karen, I suggest that you just don't even worry about this as you did absolutely nothing wrong. If the Money order does show up take a digital picture of the envelope or scan it and then do as you said. Write return to sender on the envelope and send it back to him.

Nicolas,
It is now the 24th and your M/O has not arrived. I really didn't want to see this thread return to the first page, but I beleive that it would be unethical if I did not make these suggestions and since you thought it prudent to bring this to a public venue, I decided to reply in kind:

1. I don't know if it is possible to stop payment on a M/O, but I would advise that you get to the bank first thing Monday and try.

2. E-mail or PM us the address that you sent it to, so we may varify that it is correct.

3. In the future, I would advise that you send money with some sort of return receipt request that requires the receipient to sign for the delivery. In other words, CYA!

Dogboa aka Craig Clark

The only instances I have sent MO regular mail is when there was not an urgency in delivery. But that was agreed beforehand with the seller. In those instances I have gone as far as scanning the MO and sending an e-mail with an attachment showing the MO already filled out. That reassures the seller that in effect there was at least a MO filled. I agree with what was said, return it to the sender once it arrives (if it does).

Regards.

I don't think the Clarks have done anything wrong. Six days, as you posted, is a long time and if you sell enough animals over the internet, you are going to lose money because are always buyers that tell you "the check is in the mail". Anytime you deal, whether buying or selling, you have to assume a reasonable amount of time for the payment to be made and for the sending of the animal(s). To me, 8 postal delivery days (going on 10) is plenty of time to expect payment, esp. if it was said to have been sent out.

In fact, I think just about all sales over the internet now require full payment or at least a deposit within a day or two (allowing for Express mail). I think the Clarks were plenty patient in waiting for the money.

Personally speaking, I have not met a nicer and more honest herper than Karen or Craig Clark. This posting about the Clarks is the exact opposite of what I would expect to hear from anyone who has talked to or bought from them. And I cannot imagine that they would be impolite to you to any degree.

Craig,

First, I want to apologize for what happened. Indeed, I was wrong and I "jumped to the gun" too quickly. But I am not dishonest, and I both issued and mailed a $825 MO on the 13th to the correct adress, which explaind why I worried so much. I will go to the post office today to try to track the letter and will let you know. Next time I buy an animal, I will mail my MO using express mail to avoid such an experience. In any case, I have already been to my bank and was refunded so money is not an issue any more.

Yours sincerely,

Nicolas Vidal

Nicolas,
I'm glad you were able to get your money back. However, I am not the one you should appologize to since Karen's name is on the thread. She called me at work to ask about removing the "Sale Pending" from the animal so in essence we both made the decission. If the m/o ever shows up it will still be marked, Return to Sender and sent back.

Craig Clark

hmmmm

nick you say the money orders been refunded?what kind of money order was it? the reason that i ask is becausei have had several money orders lost, and when ever that happens ,it ussually takes the company 90 days to refund the money due to investigations. i would love to know which company you use that offers a instant refund on lost money orders so that i can use them also.please include this information
