Am I understanding correctly about the post McGrath made with all the profanity~ the one that was so offensive it convinced me McGrath was a scary lunatic and actually had me rethinking my stand on double dinging with the warning posts for a single post was in fact a quote from this Christopher fellow from some previous time? Did you pull that post out of Hell? It was extremely offensive. Whoever wrote it should be very embarrassed~ and quoting it rather than linking to it pretty much deserved warning points just for bad taste............

But am I understanding correctly that McGrath did not actually write the lunatic post and in fact this Christopher who is also posting in this thread did?

Exactly. Cutting and pasting that in the manner he did made it appear as if the words were his. There are a couple of options for dealing with that - the simplest being quotation marks, the clearest being the use of the quote icon/coding. When quoting something of that nature, I, for one, would censor it as I deemed necessary...and include a notation to that effect (and possibly a link to the original).

So let me understand this, we now cannot hold the others responsible by quoting their quoutes with in our post if the original post goes against the rules? If you do this you are then also subjected to being dinged? This just opens up another can of worms

Christopher received a warning for his post under the previous system. Had one of us come across it in the course of our own reading here, he may well have gotten another...however, that was not the case. Instead, you dug up that post from 4 months ago and cut/pasted it into this thread - are you suggesting that Christopher should be penalized for YOUR actions?

You went back looking for that post, and included it within yours...the manner in which it appears here is what makes you responsible for it. Had Christopher posted it within this thread , and you simply quoted it via the built in means

The Real Reason WHY

OK Mr. Moore you are correct. Christopher posted that prior to 1/21/07 but the reason why it came about was an issue that he questioned my integrity..etc...I used the post to support my statement. I incorrectly misquoted and he should not be held responsible for that. Since then Christopher and I have come to mutual understanding for each other and the situation is dead as far as I am concerned. He is not the person that wrote that quote nor do I believe he will ever do it again. Our tempers got the best of us and we will both pay the price. Some more than others.

Now before I explain my reasons for everything that has happened over the past two days I would like everyone read, analyze and chew on this post before they start wing dinging away. If after the general concensus of the group would like me to leave then that will be the course of action I take.
Now everyone of you should examine my posts previous to 2/1/07 and look at them and wonder why this positive, Dr. Jekyll turned into Mr. Hyde over night. The following will explain it.

Now I am going to have to paraphrase a little because we all know by now that I have not come to grips with using the quote button. My first post started in a thread in which BCFOS came back and antagonized Wes Pollock. I was a member of TRR and used to go there regularly. His actions destroyed that site. When he came in here and tried starting the same trouble on this site I became very protective and defensive. I DID NOT WANT THAT TO START OVER HERE. (Some are aware of this, and if you are not just understand there was alot of underhanded stuff involved). So I used some language that I got in trouble for, rightly so but my intentions were for the best.
Bob Woodard (Griz) brought up the issue of turning the moderation over to people who did not earn it, were not qualified or able to understand the magnitude of this responsibility. He was frowned upon and basically told he was off base (This is paraphrasing too. Bear with me). Anyway, another member and myself decided to test the hypothesis that throw a bloody piece of meat in the water and the sharks will come and feast. So I decided to test the water, using myself as bait. After the initial point infraction for profanity I lost 49 warning points and 114 karma points in less than 48 hours. Almost 20 of those warning points from one person. Many of those points were from that post in which I incorrectly misquoted. My understanding from modification though is that if you hold a serious responsibilty like they have, they should have investigated the thread a little further and searched the answer. I have a few responses in which the people dinged me and then realized it was not me at all. Some didn't care enough to even respond to my PM about why I was being penalized. So I ask you are all the moderators taking their responsibilities seriously or are some egos getting in the way? I honestly believe that some are doing a great job and those should be commended but the others will come out in the wash ( I will probably be long gone and banished by then). Policemen do not shoot first and ask for your identification later. I think in a round about way Bob was trying to get this message across. This community or ours is sacred and I for one had dealt with several people through purchases, trading info, selling etc. All have been very supportive (ex. Mike Greathouse, Terri Manning, Brian Cox, Terry Durham and on and on). So my intent was to prove that if you turn over the reigns to a group of people they still have to be monitored. My research supports the notion and I quote my dad so I can't find a button for that, "The lunatics are running the assylum." So now a bunch of you will say, "Oh he is trying to cover his own butt for his actions." Do the research, read my previous quotes, ask around, anything you want. If you feel you have been duped or feel like a lab rat, I am sorry but like in any experiment, the experimental group cannot know the variables or they will alter there responses.

So now that it is all out in the open those of you that are angry with me, will ding me again. Thats OK because I have big shoulders. Those of you that sit back, consider and think about what I have accomplished you will understand that this new system still has a "golem in the gears". Now is the time to fine tune and mold a better product.

Rich, I know how hard you have worked to make this better and I do feel bad about this little experiment for your sake but my intentions were for the best. Also, the PM i sent you earlier today does mention alot of how I feel on this subject. So ladies and gentlemen, start your fingers on the buttons if you feel you must.

I do not care if it is your dads quote, to use it towards members here causes it to fall under name calling in my book. IMHO.

If you think the members here are lunatics and Fauna is the asylum, then I can see why you are drawing fire. I would also wonder why you would be taking part of a place like that if that is you views.
