Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Listen up people.

I'm getting people whining and moaning about being issued warnings and I'm about tired of it. I'm busy enough with my own work, since this is in the middle of breeding season for my animals, and just don't have time to play nanny here.

Then blend in some common sense with all of this.

If you think you have a better idea on how to run this ship, then build your own site and do it. I'm trying to do my best and have dug deep in my pockets, and put a lot of blood and sweat into this to give you what you see here.

Although I am willing to listen to suggestions, I am not interested in hearing your whining. I made a decision on how to treat something that got warnings assessed and that is that. It is a way for me to let YOU know that what you did is not kosher here. It is also something that is available for people to see that some enforcement of the rules is actively taking place, so it may be appropriate for them to figure out what is right and what is wrong to do. It is purposely made to be tough to get yourself banned by breaking the rules, but not impossible. That's because it is NOT a banning tool, but a guiding tool.

The system is "as is" to you all. I have handed you the chainsaw, now you figure out how to use it. You can either build something nice with it, or cut your own danged head off with it, that's up to you.

Yeah, I'm getting pissed......
 
Don't let them get to you WebSlave, you're doing a great job with this site. I think most to all of us are very greatful for this site and the work you do on it.

ok people this world is FULL of rules and regulations .... its simple read them and FOLLOW them or you get warned ? whats so hard about that ?

If you speed you get a ticket ? but yet you know speeding is illegal.

If you litter you get a ticket? but you know this to is illegal.

Why cause you were told this or you read it somewhere telling you what happens when you do them aso just take 10-15 mins or a hour if you need it read the rules & TOS if it doesnt sink in heck read it over untill it does .

I to was warned ... Why because i left my signature out on a post ... did i whine ? nauh could i whine sure . But why what would it prove ? it would prove i VIOLATED a rule here so i just learned to make sure i post my name lol
so if you think your time is valuable then why isnt Rich's time valuable????? i think hes done a helluva job giving each one of us a place to come to. and all the expense of his own wallet!!! and the supportes of this site . so for gods sake read the writing adhere to it live with it or go whine somewhere else and be thankful that you were warned and not just dropped as apaid advertiser as ( another well know place would do) when you violate there terms of service so .... what are ya waiting for he gave ya the link go read.... before you clean the snakes cage .....

I just wanted to say I'm glad someone has the balls to set up an Inquiry like this one. No other website would even consider a board of Inquiry. This provides an invaluable service to all breeders and dealers that still believe in integrity. I would guess that an overwhelming amount of the complaints are coming from the "bad guys".... Think about all the innocent people that are arrested every day. They plead their case and most (not all) are set free. So life isn't always fair, but its all worth living. Even the bad has its lessons.

Im proud to live in a country where we have the freedom to say things, that some might not want to hear.

I just wanted to say that I agree whole-heartedly with what you originally wrote in this thread and the postings that followed. I think you're doing a great job. And if a few warnings is the worst thing that happens to me in the herp business I'll consider myself lucky.

I agree with everyone here. This is an excellent web site, and had been very useful for me, since I am fairly new at this. I really don't know a whole lot of names of breeders. Just by sitting back and reading some of these posts I know who to stay away from and who to send my business too. Thanks alot for that.:)
 
Yup, Webslave, you do a hell of job. I work with kids too( ha ha) and they can whine and complain like it's the end of the world. Too damn bad if some folks don't read or know the rules. It's not some big secret society here, hell, I'm in it so it couldn't be. When we finally meet, the beers are on me.

Yeah, I'm sure the bad guys would just LOVE to be able to edit or delete their old messages when something they said previously got tripped up in later conversations. I'm sure that would certainly help the BOI maintain it's credibility.

I used to just delete such messages, but then I got flak from people asking me what I had against them personally by not allowing them to post here.

If someone believes that warning points assessed against them because they violate the rules makes them look bad, then so be it. Just about every site with an open forum has rules. I suggest you just get into the habit of reading them before you post anything.

I must say that I have to agree with what you are saying about the rules, but I own a Cable company in Toledo Ohio and several smaller business's in and around Toledo and must say that, although I do warn when people break the rules, I also obide by my own set of rules also. If it were ok for me to tell everyone to follow the rules and I didnt have to well then that would be dictatorship, not Owner. I was warned for not posting my full name, I didnt read the rules and that was my own fault. I own up to that unconditionally, but it was a bit disturbing to see that the person who makes up all the rules does not sign their posts either, and not a single warning for it of course. No matter the reason, that reasoning would apply to every other person on this forum. I am a strong believer that just because I own and run my business's that doesnt put me on a pedestal above all my employee's and subcontractor's, they are still my equalls, and as such, it would be wrong of me to expect something from them that I could not do myself. I hope I am not warned or banned for stateing my opinion. I think this is a very nice forum and very informational for a individual like myself who is trying to get into herping to a higher degree than what I already am. I was just expressing my opinion on that matter, hope that is allowed.

Actually there is what I hope is a very good reason why I sign my posts solely as "WebSlave" when I post messages in that persona. That is because I want WebSlave to be a completely different person from Rich Zuchowski and act in a difference capacity here. I want to be able express MY opinions as myself, and in those instances I will use my real name. But as WebSlave I strive to be much more neutral and limit my opinions to those issues solely having to do with this site, and try to have an even hand about all issues, even those I may feel strongly about as Rich Zuchowski. Sometimes I fail, of course. In some issues the dividing line gets real hard to determine.

In any event, I was not willing to give up my opinions of the way I perceive issues in this business simply because I am moderating the BOI. Is Rich Zuchowski moderating the BOI the same as WebSlave moderating this board? I try not to let it be. Such actions might be construed as unfairly biasing discussion here, based on what Rich Zuchowski's opinion is, which I do not want to do. On the other hand, if I post ads here to sell my animals or post my opinions of how someone else conducts their business, I would not want those sales attempts or opinions maybe carry more weight simply because I, as WebSlave, posted them.

At one time I half heartedly tried to keep my real identity from being evident to anyone but someone whom really tried to dig it out. But even that itself had it's drawbacks, because some people would feel the anonymous nature of the owner of this board might not be appropriate because there was no *real* person to go to for issues. But I felt that people would be more inclined to be honest about their opinions if they didn't feel there was a chance that I would quash such a discussion if it were about myself or a friend of mine.

So basically, what it boils down to is that I wear two hats on this site and try to keep them separated as much as possible. Of course, I don't expect everyone to agree with the way I do this, but nonetheless, there is my explanation.

I will say that after reading your response and actually thinking about it, it did make sense. The fact that you do use your name in other aspects lends credibility to what you have said. And I applaud the fact that you try to view it in 2 differant persona's to be able to run the site as you do. Thank you for explaining that to me and it honestly does make sense. I have read about 40 pages of posts tonight. ( I love learning as much as I can about snakes obviously ) And have noticed that some of the old timers get a bit more leeway than the newbies. And some people were commenting on it in other threads. But I must say, being a business owner that also has credibility, When someone puts in the time they deserve more. Just my .02 cents if anyone was going to add to my earlier post. Once again, Thank you very much for responding and Thank you for the site. It has helped me so much already and I know it will continue to do so.

Here. Here. I totally agree with you sir. You can do whatever you want on your own site. You make the rules. If some people do not like them they can attempt to find another web site with this much herp stuff all in one place. I support you 100%.
 
Goose or Gander?

Webslave .... Just wondering how I got 2 warnings in the same day for the same thing ... one would think an individual would get 24 hrs to fix a mistake like "not posting your full name" on a thread/response. BTW, I missed you name on your messages ... maybe my computer needs to be looked at? Or is it that what is good for the goose is not so good for the gander?

I"m a bit testy as my 10 ft female RTB is going through a bad shed and although most of it is under control her left eye is not losing the cap so I'm on edge about it .... I hate taking her to the vet, not that she isn't worth it. Anyway you have a great site here and I really enjoy it, my appologies again.
