In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Wendy Childs, Reptile Addictions

No I do not have money right now. I'm trying to figure out what prices the morphs are, so I can save up for one I want.
I don't want to save up 200 dollars and be like "Ok, give me the rarest BP you have!" because that's not going to buy me much. Notice I didn't say I was interested. I asked how much they are. :/
I didn't win the lottery. I wasn't planning to buy any. And also notice, the $5--not to rip on Wendy, again I'm sorry--WOULD BE A HUGE PLUS IN MY book, if I could FIND OUT WHAT HER INVENTORY IS before I paid it so I would know it would be applied to a definite purchase.
Hence, the internet works better, because I can see people's inventories and prices.
I am not planning to buy anytime soon. However, in the upcoming months, I may be interested in some cheaper morphs.
Please read my whole post next time. In that "for sale" thread, I didn't say ONCE I was interested. I merely asked a question.
Sorry.

Also: I'm new to ball pythons, which is why I'm so clueless as to the prices. ^-^ Sorry for the noobishness. Strike off 30 internets for that one.

I'm sorry to make a 3rd post, I just don't like very much how you all read that post and assumed I was going to buy a super expensive ball python, when I have said more than enough times I am broke--too broke to afford paying $5 every time I want to see what Wendy's amazing store may or may not have for sale.
Did you all think I was just kidding? Or lying? I wasn't doing either. I was honest when I said I have no money. I asked a QUESTION about the cost of a BP, and didn't even said I was interested, and now you're all judging ME.
Including the person who tried to "open my eyes" to not judging others. :/
HOW are you supposed to know what timeline to set your goals on if you DONT KNOW what effort is needed to put into the goals? I.e. how will I know how much money to save up for the next few months for a snake if I don't ask the people who do know???

I hate to post in this thread again, but this has been bugging me since your first post, and your constant beating of the "I'm broke" drum is getting old. If you are so broke you shouldn't even consider buying a new Ball Python. Do you think they feed themselves? You complained early on about having to pay for gas to drive to her store, whose going to pay for food every week, and the gas it takes to get there? Or are you going to be one of those people that think they can feed their BP 1 mouse a month and everything will be OK? And what are you going to do if the snake gets sick? A Vet visit will cost you anywhere from $50 to $150 and up depending on the problem, how are you going to afford that, or are you just going to treat it yourself based on replies from a "Help, my BP is sick" thread that you will inevitably be posting at some point in the future? I don't mean to be harsh, but I am sick of people buying pets that they can't afford just because they think they would be cool to have.

I HAVE MONEY TO FEED THEM. That is where the money goes TO, which is the reason I don't have extra money to spend. I set out $150 each month alone in case they need an emergency trip to the vet.
I TAKE CARE OF THEM.
I wouldn't beat the drum if people would have heard it the first time I did it, because I only intended to once. Also, did you READ the other posts? I was defending myself, not trying to get pity. I was simply telling the facts.
I do think they are cool to have, but they are not the only pets I care for. I love my animals and all are in good health. ALL of them. My frog, 2 snakes, dog, cat, fish, and parakeets.
None of them have been sick. I hope they won't get sick. But I set aside the money in case, which is why I do NOT have money on hand--without saving up first--to go buy snakes. I refuse to spend the vet money in case I need it.
I am tired of people jumping me about this. I do not want pity. Do not give it to me. I was just saying the facts.
I could come on here and tell everyone I'm super rich. I'm not. Sorry.
I feed my BP and corn snakes 2 mice/2 pinkies once every 5 days. When they have a bad shed, I bathe them and run them through towels until it comes off. I raise the humidity and go check it every 5 minutes to make sure it's at the right levels for my BP AND corn snake. I clean their enclosures once a month, I rinse out their waterbowls every other day. I spot clean every day.
Please tell me how I'm not a responsible owner.

I dunno, the point is, it is her right to charge if she wants to, and it looks like people are paying the entry fee. And the drive through feeder idea is outstanding.

If I'm ever up that way, I'd pay five bucks to have a look around, and then I'd offer to take Wendy to lunch. She has already packed several lifetimes of adventures into her life and is still going strong, I bet I'd just clam up and listen.

:iagree: WE know.:yesnod:

Which is the reason why you shouldn't add the extra expense of another snake...

It sounds like your plate is already full taking care of the pets you have. That's great that you have $150 in reserve in case one of your animals gets sick; what if the bill is $250, $350, $450, etc...? The more animals you add, the more you increase your chance of having to deal with an illness. Just because you can get more animals doesn't mean you should.

There are plenty of ads all over that you can ceck out to give you an idea of the morph costs. Also, you could spend time on the forums or in chat and make the acquaintance of breeders who will clue you in.

But asking about the price of a particular advertised animal just seems more than general interest.

As I have mentioned, there is no zoo here, doubt there ever will be.

Little known facts. San Diego zoo was free from the 20,s until 1960. Admission started even for children.

Admission now is $38 adult $28 child, to go to safari part also then it's $70adult, $60 child.

That zoo has 2000 animals and 800 species.

I have 1028 species and approx 1200 animals for $5 that can be. Applied to any purchase.

Get that at a zoo :)

am taking under serious consideration a redesign of the entire store. As if all the feeder moving wasn't enough :) moving 30 rodent racks and 200 bug tubs to two back rooms, I sulating, running electrical and heating was an undertaking :(

I have seen the layouts of other reptile stores who have all the mercandise up front and the remainder blocked off where they charge an admission there.

As of now all the supplies are to the right front . I may move it to the center front and do that. But add in a few common things too, beardies, ect.

It will come down to cost. It was 20k to run the electrical in the rows they are in now. I can build the heck out of my own snake racks, but I,m no electrician :)

I'm looking into it.

I just answered 13 email that came via reptileaddictions.com and 2 here in pm. I sent 4 text messages with photos, and Completed a transaction for 1.1 cork arks to ship Monday.

I am readily available to answer emails at least every other day. I can always answer what's in inventory that second but it does not mean It will be there in 5 min.

I am easily accessable. Now I will get up and get some coffee and head to work.

And here I was complaining about how much work setting up my own small facility was..... Good luck!

Everything is expensive in CA lol..No offense, but you cant compare what you have to the San Diego Zoo..Cheaper ,yes...But lets be real...People go to the zoo for the whole picture of things, the scenery, the sounds, I mean basically the whole enviroment..Look at the prices of most amusement parks...They are not really to far off base being as though it may be voted by alot of people as being the best zoo in the country...You have a very nice place...I just think at the end of the day,its still a pet store...

lolol anyone wants to take a trip to Newyork and pay to see me "zoo" of animals your more than welcome! I have over 100 animals maybe 80 species so ill only charge a proportion of the cost.. 90cents to get in!!!

The economy has really made things pathetic....

I wasnt comparing myself to The San Diego Zoo,I dont know how a family with 3 kids could afford $320 to go to a zoo.

Although, I have more species, than they do.

The bottom line is, nothing in life is for free. A $5 coupon isnt much asking in the big picture of it all. :) This being said after it just took me 1 hr 40 minutes to vacuum this place.

After owning a pet store and having it fail, due to the same zoo like customers (as well as rent increases) Wendy was referring to, I understand her decision to charge a cover fee. The way she has set it up to not hurt actual buyers is very smart. It was very frustrating having the store packed on days and walking away with very few sales.. Anyways i just wanted to post to Wendy's character as well. I inquired some months ago about uroplatus care and some cresteds she had available and some how in her busy schedule she spoke with me for a half hour or more helping me with uroplatus care. She was one of the nicest people i had ever spoken with who really took time to talk to me and also knew her stuff through and through. Paying the extra $5 to help support a business who is promoting responsible husbandry is not a big deal to me.

I am posting this information here, as this is the most current BOI thread on Wendy.

I saw an ad on Tuesday (9/7/10) posted by Wendy Childs of Reptile Addictions for some poison dart frogs for sale. Just being curious, I looked at her ad. I saw, among other frogs for sale, there was 0.0.2 Pumillo "blue jeans" morphs, listed for $100 each. When I looked through her pictures she had posted, I didn't see any frogs that looked like blue jeans, however, I did see some pumillos that looked like the "man creeks" morph. Since CB blue jeans are pretty rare in this country and diffucult to come by, and because none of the pictures she had up looked like blue jeans at all, I decided to inquire about them.

I asked her, within the thread, if the photos in question were of her blue jeans, and what bloodline they are from. She said yes, those were her blue jeans in the pictures, and that they are from Darren Meyer's bloodline. I then told her that those frogs look like man creeks to me, and she replied that it was her camera that made the legs look black (insted of blue) and that she guarantees that they are blue jeans. The next time I checked a little while later, supspiciosly, everything on her ad suddenly said "SOLD".

At that point, I decided to ask the opinions of the experts over at Dendroboard.com. I posted a thread on their identification forem, and include 4 of the pictures Wendy posted of her "blue jeans". After seeing the pictures, they all agreed they were definatly not blue jeans, and were probably infact man creeks. One person there even contacted Darren about it.
You can see that thread here, although it no longer shows the pictures:
http://www.dendroboard.com/forum/identification-forum/57820-what-kind-pumillo-do-you-think.html
And here are screen shots of my post and a few replies:

Well, shortly after that, I noticed Darren Meyer posted on the ad that if they were from him, they are 100% man creek, as he does not work with blue jeans at all.
In the mean time, I noticed when Wendy posted "all sold", she thanked someone (legionofthederanged). Well, I contacted him via PM to see if he had purchased the supposed blue jeans. Thankfully he had not, and he thanked me for "looking out for him", and praised me for knowing the difference between the two pumillo morphs (he agrees that the frogs she has pictured are definatly man creeks, as well.)
Then, I preceided to ask Wendy within the thread, if she would please come and explain the situation. A little while later, the ad had been deleted and this was in my inbox:

Stop
I dont appreciate you harassing my customers. They do not appreciate it either. I request respectfully that you cease immediately.

And this is what I responded with:
Re: Stop
I have harrassed no one. I mearly PMed legionofthederanged, after Darren stated they were man creeks, to ask him he had purchased the "blue jeans", and to make him aware that they probably were man creeks. He thanked me for "looking out for him", and agreed that they were man creeks and not blue jeans as well.

Then, the next day, I got this PM from her:

I am reporting you for harassment. Your pm's are uninvited, I have asked you to stop. Now go post that on DB board with all the other 1/8th of information you have posted......................
You DO NOT have my permission to steal and use my photos.

So obviously, I offended her by questioning whether or not those frogs were real blue jeans or just man creeks. And, after the person she said they were from came on the ad and said if they are from him, then they are not blue jeans, I started to believe that she was purposly misrepresenting those frogs, in order to make more money, as blue jeans are more expensive than man creeks (although neither are "cheap" frogs). So it would appear that she was caught in a lie and then deleted the proof.

I would like Wendy to come here and explain her actions. I do not anyone being scammed into buying something that's not what it's suppose to be. I'm hell bent on protecting the integrity of the dart frog hobby, and the hobbists alike. I felt I needed to post this, to make sure she doesn't decieve someone into buying some man creek froglets for $100 each, when they think they will be getting blue jeans, and to make sure she doesn't misrepresent any animal she is trying to sell for that matter.

Is there any way to get pictures of the frogs in question? Or to have Darren post in this thread?
