In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Western NY Spring Show! May 22nd

I think next year, we should organize a little buffet rather than ordering the dry/cold pizza.

Everyone working together to bring a dish-even if the people from farther out just bring some home-made cookies or a 9 x 13 cake or cold-cuts or some kind of salad.

Nothing fancy-like something you'd take to a picnic.

Have one person organize the food so you don't have 6 people bringing a bag of chips. And know who brought food, so that the whole crowd isn't eating from our buffet. Like a sticker star on the vendor passes. We could set it up in one central place if everyone was in the same general area...like if we could all get tables in one of the circles.

I think some of the Ciliatus and Pangea members might be interested, too.

I think that's a pretty great idea... Just takes a lot more of preparation... maybe we can get something set up like that for the September show.

Even though I doubt I'll be vending in September, I'd be willing to organize the food if I can get some help, 'cause I'll definitely be attending.

I can even get a bulk stack of foam plates, plastic silverware, and napkins when it gets closer.

Again-as it gets closer, I'll make a list of people who are interested and what they plan to bring, and I'll get some "food stickers" so we know who can eat from the buffet.

Tomorrow, I'll also check with the other vendors to see who's interested in joining in, and make a list of names and emails for contacts.

Everyone can bring their own drinks, or maybe someone will bring a mixed flat of canned pop.

Anywho-I'll check with people tomorrow to see who's interested and what ideas they have.

Personally I liked this venue better than the hearthstone... It seemed to have a really good turnout, especially since there wasn't a sign outside advertising for passing traffic. I think if we focused a bit on advertising a bit better, we'd be able to pull a much larger turn out.

As far as food stuff goes, I'd be more than happy to help however I can... Just keep me posted.

Yeah-but do they have a room for when we have speakers? I'd never been there before, so I don't know much about the whole layout of the Post.

Yeah-definitely need better advertising.

At least we didn't have the spill-over from the sports memorabilia show in the other room at the Hearthstone tweaking out over our hobby. :ack2:

That would be great!! Definitely will!

I didn't get a chance to ask about that at the show, but I got my membership,so at the next show, I'll ask around about having a pot-luck buffet. I think it's better if I get to know some of TPTB of the group before I start making waves...I don't want to be on anyone's chit-list at this point.

One thing that REALLY startled me is that I took a stack of Webby's FaunaClassifieds brochures to put on the table, and the 3 guys at the front door had NO IDEA what Fauna was or what we're about! :ack2:

No idea that the BOI exists...NADA.

AMAZING.

You'd think they'd know that we have a place to complain about bad deals and give credit to good dealers! AT LEAST!!! :shrug01:

I think for the first show it was great. I think they also did a great job advertising. There were a lot of people at the show. For a first show it was more than anyone could have expected.

I guess they DO have a room that we would be able to use for a speaker, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue... From what I've heard the cost was less than the hearthstone, and it almost seemed like the lighting and arrangement was much better...

I am always surprised that the vast majority of people I talk to at these events have absolutely no idea such a site exists... Of course the majority of the vendors know about it, but it is extremely unfortunate that people planning to buy things don't have any knowledge of the BOI...

It really would be nice to have a way to spread the word better... Perhaps for the next show I'll talk to Rich and have a handful of Fauna Flyers on my table as well... (unless you have extras, then I will just take some of yours)
