In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What would you call her, Hyglo? Hybino....?

Well...someone brought to my attention today in a different thread...that the traits being labeled co-dominant in leos (and I'm sure other herps as well) are generally being labeled incorrectly. The actual genetics to most "co-dom" traits are incomplete dominance. Co-dominance is when both alleles are expressed at the same time, incomplete dominance is when there is an intermediate between the two alleles. An example of codominance is roaning in horses...say one allele codes for black hair, and another codes for white...if a horse is homozygous for black hair it will be solid black, if it is homozygous for white hair it will be solid white...however when you have a het, it has a mixed coat of both black and white hairs all over its body. If it was a case of incomplete dominance the het horse would be grey. So if you look at say the super snow leos...they show incomplete dominance...the hets are a faint yellow...if it was co-dominant trait, the hets would probably be spotted with white and "normal" yellow. Anyway...just my input about genetics....

more specifically...

I am not trying to imply that we do not understand genetics, or even reptile genetics... what I am referring to is that we do not fully understand Leopard Gecko genetics and how it relates to what we do know about genetics in general. We all know what resessive and co-dom genes are, we just can't be sure in many cases if they are so in leopard geckos! Just take a look at the genetic probabilities compared to the actual results!

If the egotistical business-person type breeders would spend just a little less time trying to put one of their 'new morphs' (and their names) on the map and try to actually do some studies on how leopard gecko genetics really work, we might really be in for a surprise and begin to understand these things for a change.

At least we can understand the simple recessive and dominant genes......... After that I stick with line/selective breeding, breed the best of the best and breed the biggest to the biggest.

Now I'm all cornfused. Looks like I'll let all them thar smart fellas figger out them geenetics and make MORE orangeglos, redglos, blueglos, superduper doublegreenglos. I wuz gonna buy me some but then the next day them guys done invented some better ones. Dang! Guess I'll just try to put my purdy ones with some other purdy ones and make some more purdy ones.

yeehaw!!!

Dang! Guess I'll just try to put my purdy ones with some other purdy ones and make some more purdy ones.
I recon I gotta have one of them thar purdy ones, Dan. Whatcha gonna name 'em? P.U.R.D.Y.'s?

If the so-called experts can't even determine what a simple recessive gene is vs. a co-dominant, (and now we have to deal with polygenic traits), then how in the heck are we supposed to improve the morphs we currently work on and try to understand those genetics?

thats just laziness, greed and a lack of intrest in truely understanding the scientific reasoning behind how the mutations operate.

did he inherit the business?? because i just dont see a true passion there.

Anuder funnee tang!

People think it takes alot of money and certain brand names to make more purdy leopards. I will say this. It does speed up the process and can help but IT IS NOT A NECESSITY!!!! Nothing beats hardwork and a little determination! With that being said can someone loan me a couple grand for some new stuff I am eyeing! LOL! Just kiddin!
