In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy William Albright, very, very bad

I understand how you guys feel. Some people can just say :censored: it, some guy got over on you, now you put that person on blast and now everyone knows to stay away from em. I can't do it. I've worked to hard for what little I have to just throw it away on an expensive lesson.

Harry over at monstersnakes is someone that I consider a friend, and he told me to basically leave the snake alone and give him some time to settle in. Which I did, accept for cleaning the cage and changing the water and misting him to keep the humidity up to help with the RI. I offerd the snake a meal about once every week before that. After leaving him alone, I offered food to him yesterday which he didn't take. He did however constrict it but then left it alone. I left the rat in there with him but it was a no go.

That's a great start. Not to make this thread too much about husbandry, but as I'm sure Harry may have suggested, wait some more time just like you did, and then offer him something freshly killed. Due to what appear to be bite marks, you mentioned suspecting he was on live food. Offering fresh could make the transition easier for you.

Like I said, I would do my best to care for the snake and write this guy off as a lesson learned. However, if this is not an option for you, what would you consider a reasonable solution? Perhaps with the help of the members here, it could be achieved.

Yeah, this guy apologized and is trying to help, just not responding... I think he's actually trying to help. Just keep us posted.

I thought I would run this email I recieved to day from William Albright by you guys. Should I do this or shouldn't I ? Given the condition of the animal, I don't think shipping him would be in the snakes best interest.

I would be hesitant to ship a sick snake as well, however, if you don't, it may require laying out some money up front for veterinary costs, but more importantly, you have to ask yourself if the animal would be better off with you or with him.

Regardless of your conclusion, because he has offered a solution, if you decline outright, it could give him justification for not refunding or replacing the animal if it does not pull through for you. I would try and discuss other options in order to come to an agreement. I'd also try to find out the reason for the 30 day "grace period" he is asking for.

Lastly, as I don't know your experience and/or husbandry, I urge you again just to make sure this animal is keep warm, humid, and stress free while this is going on. Hopefully, the snake will surprise you while you're trying to get all of this worked out.

BTW, I'd still like to hear Mr. Albright's side here.

I just recieved an email from William Albright saying that he will not refund my money until I ship the snake back to him. Because I don't have a bank account to link to my paypal account I would have to wait to get a check from paypal. So I told Mr. Albright that I would like to revieve my refund in the same way that I paid him, I wired him the money through money gram. I'm afraid that If I ship this snake to him I won't see my money, giving what I had to go through just to get him to email me back. I'm also afraid that if I ship this snake to Mr. Albright in it's current condition that it might arrive DOA and Mr. Albright will find some excuse not to send me my money.

you know the really sad thing here, and pretty much anywhere, is that now days you cant trust anybody. on one hand, you dont trust mr. albright to send you your refund, before you ship a potentially sick snake. on the other hand, mr albright doesnt trust you to send you your refund before you ship him the snake. unfortunately in the "business world" somebody has to take the higher road and go first, so to speak, and just have good faith that the other party will honor their word. oh to be back in mayberry days, when a mans word was trustworthy on both sides.

reticguy, I totally agree with you. But the only reason I really feel like this is because I had to do so much just to get him to email me. I called, texted, and emailed him all went unanwsered. It wasn't until I sent a complaint email to kingsnake.com and threatened him with legal action that he contacted me.

what it inevitably comes down to is what is best for the animal that is in a health crisis (or potential health crisis). if he is at a point that you dont feel safe sending him back to the seller, it is the right thing to do, to get him to a vet and have a full exam and at least some diagnostic work done. this is so the reason why i try to avoid doing business via internet. you cant trust anybody these days. while i understand where you are coming from, if the snake is in such bad shape that he may not live during the shipping of him back to the seller, you really should be addressing his medical issues first and foremost. have you taken him to a qualified reptile/amphibian medicine veterinarian. i know its tough to spend the money on top of what you may have been "taken for" already, but one of two things needs to happen, either take the snake to a qualified reptile/amphibian veterinarian, or ship the animal back to the seller and have faith that the seller is honorable, and wants to avoid his name being slandered on the boi. there is a very old, simple but so true (especially in todays world), "buyer beware". and these days, unless you get things in writing, in front of witnesses, and/or a notory, that whole "buyer beware" thing runs very strong in the business world

If it's possible and ship at the same time in a way. Meaning Mr Albright sends you a postal money order, certified mail. When he sends you the serial number on the money order and the certified mail number you will know it's for real because you can verify it through the post office that both numbers are legit. Once that is verified ship him back the snake.
Mail fraud is a federal offense so I doubt he'd be willing to fraud you.

Yes it's a hassle and a bit time consuming but a good way to get your money back without worry.

If the snake passes (dear god I hope not, poor baby) please post photos of the deceased for further proof in the hopes it will get you your money back or another animal.

Sorry you're having to go through this.

It is very obvious Mr. Albright could care less that his name and reputation is being slandered here. I sent him an email with a link to this thread the day I started it, and needless to say he has not stepped foot in this thread to defened either. He is well aware of this thread but he doesn't care. As for the animal, I have always had his best interest at heart. Besides his physical flaws he's a beautiful retic. He has never struck at me and is very calm during handling. I have taken him to a reptile vet which is also my pitbull's vet (go figure) and he did confirm early signs of URI in him. As for the postal money order, I will tell Mr. Albright that that is the form of payment I will accept for my refund.

great that you took him to a vet. did they get him started on antibiotics or did they think it was early enough that increasing temps and stuff in his enclosure could or would do the trick

He actually diagnosed it very early and informed me to raise his enclosure temps to 95 degrees and raise the humidity to around 50-60%. Which I've been doing for around 2 1/2 weeks.

I'm sorry that I didn't post these earlier. Mr. Albright sent me an email about a day or two asking for pix of the snakes RI and these were the pix I sent him. I'm only posting these to further substantiate my claims.

Alright Mr. Albright. Please send the refund in the form of a postal money order in the amount of 426.00 by certified mail and once you give me the serial number on the money order and the certified mail number and I verify it through the post office, I will ship the snake. Thank you Jesus Blackman.

And here is his reply email.

i will refund you the full purchase price of the snake but will not issue an unsecured payment until the snake is shipped back to me. i will be happy to issue through a secure means such as pay pal before you ship. that assures me some form of recourse if the animal were not returned to me.

i have been apologetic, professional, and polite from the very beginning. offering to replace the animal or refund the purchase price form the first time you mentioned the problem. you have threatened me, cursed at me, and slandered me on the b.o.i.
none of this was necessary in the least. i had already stated that i would stand behind the animal and replace or refund.

if you would like pay pal i will send the funds today. if you wish it in the unsecured manner of a money order, ship the animal back to me today and payment will be issued as soon as the animal is delivered back to me.

Sorry pal but shipping out Bubbles the retic doesn't sound too polite nor professional to me.

BTW, "slander" is spoken versus libel being written. Common mistake unlike sending out an animal with RI. :NoNo:

I have given Mr. Albright many different suggestions to make this right. Here are a couple emails for starters as I told him that I am only interested in retics.

I told Mr. Albright that either one of those solutions would satisfiy me. His responce to me was that basically he wasn't going to do either. He keeps talking about paypal. I know a couple of people who have gotten stiffed through paypal and had to go through months of bullcrap just to get their money. And paypal has already said that unless you buy off of ebay, there's not to much they can do in a case like this if I get scammed.
