What Luck
The thread where Sean asked about the ghost is the same one I questioned Jons guarantining techniques. Not funny HA HA funny, but its kinda funny that the one I asked him about quarantining is the one he later thought had IBD...
Sorry if this comes out weird here, i copied and pasted the thread, since I cant link to it.

Here is the pic finally. Not a very good one. You can see him doing his thing, and if you look, you can see my big anery female in the unit below, basking herself. She does that alot for some reason....but, as long as she's comfortable.

I don't know what you mean by who got her, but she hasn't been bred by anyone yet. She has been doing that for some time now, but hasn't showed any signs of problems and she is very active. I am going to place my anery male with her in a week or so, and that should be my last pairing for the season. She appears to be just soaking up more heat as the temperatures dropped out here.

Yeah, I saw how they edited it. Way to strict if you ask me....I can't count how many times that's happened to me. Anyway, I'll try to get better pics as time goes on, but seeing those two morphs mating is a delight, let me tell you. As for the female anery, she has awesome weight on her and I can't wait to throw another anery male in there with her. Pluse the anery male is my best breeder, so I'm confident as long as she ovulates, I should have some nice anerys as well in the spring.

Great looking snakes, but how long did you quarantine the new albino? Isn't that the one you just got? I may be way off, just curious.

No quarantining, I got him from a friend, picked him up in person, and he is in perfect health. Because of my annual scheduling, I have deadlines for when I can place my boas together, and last week was it, so he was already cooled and in the prime of health so I placed him with her and everything seems to have gone great so far.

I honestly think if you have had enough boas, and have had them in your hands and inspected them well enough your good to go. It is breeding season now, if he looks good to you let him rip. Now if this were an import or somthing, It would definitly need to be quarintined. Even if the boa were quarintined though he would come out of quarintine via your personal opinion of his health. Just my .02$

I wasn't jumping anyones case over the whole thing, I was just curious. It sounds like you have it all figured out, and that is fine. As for being good to go because you have had enough boas, I wonder if someone like the boaphile, or any other very large scale breeder who has had many boas would take the same chances that a lot of us do, by throwing a brand new animal into our programs without quarantine.

Again, the animal was a from a friend of mine and there was no reason to suspect the need for quarantine. But caution is never a bad thing, so I see where you are coming from Fig.

so how come you sold that 'breedable ghost',.. seems to me youd be a bit better off tossing him on the anery female than another anery male?

Well, the thing is the ghost was just a bit too small for the huge anery female.....she is over 35 pounds and I wanted to make sure the job got done right. Plus, I needed the cash to fund this dh sunglow project, which as it turns out, was probably one of the best choices I've made this year. But I was sad to see the ghost go, I think I'm going to end up buying him back next year if I have a little extra cash...he was a great snake for sure.
